Service was extremely quick - food arrived faster than drinks. The food itself was fine but nothing special. Fish and chips was more chips than fishy however fish was cooked well and was quite tender. The ahi burger was made using tuna tartare and was difficult to eat logistically (had to take off the onion rings and eat them separately). We stopped into Match for dinner and had a decent time. The vibe is very "hey ho stomp clap" millennial burger joint, which was fine. We ordered a couple of burgers and fries (they come separately). They came out really quick which was great, and were very tasty. The thing that was quite shocking was the price. $18 for a double cheeseburger without fries is pretty darn steep. They charge a whole $7 for the second patty, which seems a bit crazy. Solid spot, just wish it was priced a bit more in line with the value they're offering. read more

I was very excited to come to this restaurant, but was very disappointed as soon as I sat down. The restaurant is not ran very well and it's pretty small, which is surprising because it seems like the staff can't handle the customers. Right off the bat, I was a little bit disappointing that we had to pay for water and that was the only option there is no tapwater which made no sense to me. We all came for lobster rolls, so we ordered lobster rolls and decided to substitute the potato chips for french fries. When the food came out, there was a huge clump of hair in one of our french fry dishes. It was honestly disgusting and unappetizing. Overall, we told the server and showed him the huge hair in the french fries and he did not show any concern. He just took the dishes away and told us he was gonna bring out new french fries. I expected a little more courtesy, since that is one of the biggest turn off's you could experience in a restaurant, but he didn't really seem to care. Pleasantly surprised with the food here. As a hot lobster roll connoisseur, this one is about 8.5. A good serving of lobster meat and though I loved the brioche, the bread should be a little softer. I will only eat fresh lobster while in Maine, and can grab a burger most anywhere, but came to try the locally sourced oysters-fried. The place is very small inside with an enclosed and heated outdoor space, which is where I sat. Just the normal chatter of patrons seemed extremely loud in this space. Service was friendly and prompt. Fried oysters arrived quickly. The coating lacked seasoning and crunch. The horseradish dipping sauce was a bit off putting; I love horseradish, but this did nothing to enhance or complement the oysters. I really would have preferred a glass and not a plastic cup to enjoy my beer. Parking area in front of restarant very limited, although like others mentioned, there is an adjacent parking area. My brother-in-law took the train up from NYC for a visit and instead of picking him up in New Haven, we did so in Westport and spent the day there. We had lunch at Match Burger Lobster, and it was excellent in so many ways. First, let's talk service and COVID protocol. Service was professional and courteous. There is no indoor dining and all of the outdoor tables were safely spaced apart. Paper menus are optional, as you can scan a QR code and check out the menu on your phone. Sandwiches are individually wrapped and served in what looks like "to go" box. OK, let's move on to the menu and pricing. As you might expect, the menu is heavy on burger and lobster choices. Big burgers are $13, cheeseburgers are $15, smaller "flat burgers" are $8, and lobster rolls are $24. You can get smaller portions as sliders, plus a lot more in the form of salads, appetizers, soups and other burgers like veggie or lamb, and other seafood choices like oysters or fish and chips. Everything is under $20 except for the lobster choices. I went with a $20 Slider Combo -which was a mini match burger and my choice of a mini lobster roll or mini oyster bun (I went with the oysters). The dish is served with a massive serving of home-made potato chips, a pickle spear, and lemon wedges. If you've ever ordered sliders before, I'll bet you a nickel that you've been disappointed a time or two in the chintziness of the portion. Not so here! The burger slider was big, real big ! And the oyster slider was just as good with a lot of big plump delicious fried Copps Island oysters. Zero complaints at all. The two sliders and that mountain of chips were a great meal and very fairly priced at $20. The only area of improvement I can think of is their signage. There is no very visible sign from the street. The door has their red and white logo, but cars in the parking lot and parked on the street obscure it. There is a small sidewalk signboard that is super easy to miss. Why they don't have a sign under the second-floor windows like their neighbor does is odd. So, just trust your GPS. read more

I am saddened to say I won't be returning to match any longer. I've had four incidents with this restaurant where I've gotten sick. The first two times was for being "overly" greasy. You may think , well yes , it's a burger joint , but when I say greasy, I mean sopped in oil. As someone who has a weak pancreas it was a horrific two times- The two other times were most recent. Last week I picked up burgers that were inedible drowned in salt. To a point where I think the salt container fell into the meat. The last time I got sick and threw up from the food ; violently within a hour or two after eating it. I know it was not me because I went to haven hot chicken the next day and didn't get sick. I feel the quality has been skipped. For the prices I don't see the point for battling grease , and questionable food the last go around. The staff are really nice and so is the restaurant but I'm not interested in entertaining 90$ for dinner for my family to get sick. sorry read more

For the next to last review of the 9 places I visited for CT Lobster Rolls last summer we land at the bottom of the list. Match Burger Lobster lands at #3 of the 3 shoreline spots and #9 of 9 overall. Another review I really didn't want to write because having worked in Westport for a while this was a semi-regular stop for me. Over that time I've had more than a few items on their menu and the food has been good and I've had a few issues that management was always quick to respond to but maybe not fully address. The service has always been excellent and the staff friendly so it's disappointing that they fall short with the lobster roll, something that you would not expect from a restaurant with "Lobster" in the name. I've had it several times before my most recent spot so I knew what to expect. The roll is served on a round "hollowed brioche" bun which is not typical of a lobster roll but the texture is more like a corn muffin. Brioche rolls are made with more fat and therefore much softer than regular rolls but these come off as crumbly, perhaps older or another reason but it's not a good texture for a lobster roll. They seem to over-toast the rolls to try and make up for whatever it is but that only goes so far, the roll itself could be a lot softer. Where they really drop the ball is the weight of the meat you get. It is marked all over every menu I've seen as "4 1/4 oz" of lobster meat. When I put it on the scale it wound up at 2.88 oz (6.13 oz for the whole roll - 3 1/4 oz roll). At a price-point near the absolute top of the list and a meat weight near the bottom advertising 4 1/4 oz and only delivering 2/3rds of that I cannot help but make a deduction for the deception alone. I get inflation/shrinkflation and everything but if the weight is really that low, change the menu and advertising. Beyond those issues this is a nice place. The house-made chips are excellent and the burgers are very good as I remember. I fully expected to give them a higher rating for the visit for the lobster roll but ultimately had to leave them at 2 1/2 stars, it truly "Could've been better". read more

I had to add salt and work around the undercooked vegetables. The Matzo Ball was tasteless but light. The burger was kind of like the soup, undercooked even raw, I asked for rare, not RAW!! THE ONLY SAVIMG GRACE WAS THE FISH & CHIPS! Oh and the beer! I'm glad this was a one-time visit since we'd probably never return if we lived here. read more

Lunch on a Friday. First time at Match Burger Lobster. Tried the "Match Mini". It was very good! Would go again. Food: I had a "Match Mini". It's a slider sized burger with bacon, cheddar dip and sautéed onion. It's $8 and only comes as a single slider on a bun. I was very good for a burger, I'd definitely get it again. The only complaint I have is that I ordered medium rare, but it came out cooked medium, no pink. So a little sad as it's a burger specific place. Though, it was still really good. They have lobster items and oysters on the menu, but didn't try them. Service: Staff is nice. Food and drinks came out fast. Cost: $8 for the Match Mini, $16 for the regular burger. Just the burger, no side. I added onion rings at $5. So, it's a little pricey, which was $13 for a slider and onion rings, whereas most other places would be around that price but for a full sized burger. Location: Match is located near I-95, so it's very easy to get to. Personally, I avoid going into this area at certain times as the rush hour traffic on I-95 or Rt 15 can be too much of a nightmare for me. But, getting to Match for Friday lunch was easy. Though, I got stuck in bad traffic getting back home. Also, parking may be tough. There's a few small lots around and street parking. Atmosphere: Not able to review inside, as they are only offering outdoor seating as of July 2021. Seating outside is scattered around. I liked the onion rings as well. My dad got the New England lobster roll and thought it was a little dry, so he wasn't crazy about it. I definitely think my burger patty could have been a little bigger, so it would have fit the bun a bit better and there wouldn't have been so much excess bun for the burger. The food was good, I definitely recommend the Ahi burger but I am disappointed that this $22 burger doesn't come with a side of fries. On top of that the service was abysmally slow. I understand a party of 7 may take the kitchen some time to get our food out, but a party of five came almost 45 minutes after we arrived and got their food long before us. There were no water refills, no quality check in, and had to flag down a totally different waiter just to get the check. Overall pretty disappointed in the service. read more

The seafood was fresh and the service was friendly but thank goodness we got there early and was able to get a seat in the shade. Even then, the outdoor seating in was pretty unbearable with the heat and the amount of gnats flying around. I thought it was bad before the food came out but once the food hit the table, it was almost as if we were racing against the gnats to see who would get to the food first. Would I go back? I have been to Match Burger Lobster about five times now and have always been very happy! My partner loves burgers and I'm pescatarian so it is the perfect place for us to both enjoy our favorite foods. I've previously had the lobster roll (AMAZING), tuna burger (super flavorful), veggie burger (yum) and on this visit I opted for the fish and chips. The food was served in a takeout box due to COVID and came out piping hot. The fish tasted very fresh and the fries were well seasoned and crispy. I'm honestly getting hungry again as I write this review. Anyway, service was great and we were seated in the heated outdoor patio. We arrived before a large party of 15, 12 year olds, and it was nice of the staff to give us a heads up, that, that was about to happen. We opted for inside seating. The fried clams were pretty good. The onion straws were just okay. The combo with a mini burger and mini lobster roll were perfect size for sharing to be able to sample. They were both delicious. This was our family's fav place for years. For valentines day we decided to order takeout and have a nice dinner at home. We order 3 lobsters, 1 big chowder and extra French fires. When I called I made sure to tell them to make the fries fresh and hot. We set our table and my wife and my son opened their lobsters there was a very foul sewer-like smell and very black goo coming out of both of them, mine also didn't have any flavor but no sewer smell or black tar. Also they didn't put any of the side dish coming with the lobsters (chips) like none! Extra fries we ordered came soggy oily and cold We couldn't believe all of this food is horrible, only the soup was ok. The rest of it looked like very ill. We called them immediately and told them send some one to take this and be careful with he lobster some one can get sick, they said they dont have anybody to send to our home we can throw it out. For the side dishes he only said "oh sorry some one did a bad job" Someone could forget to put one side dish but all 3? Oily disgusting fries? Stinky lobsters? We even wrote and send pictures to the owners. 5 days no news from them at all, yesterday we saw they only returned 48$ from our bill even though it was 100$ We are sad not to go there anymore and of course we are not recommending to anybody reading this.They dont care if they ruined our holiday meal. While I don't eat red meat or pork, I love fresh seafood and eat it often. And for many who do, Match's menu looks pretty yummy! Lobster rolls, salads, and soups were even offered in half or whole portions, too. Win-win? I thought so, at least before I placed my order. The clam chowder was described as a hearty melange of dairy, seafood, and many vegetables. In fact, for a small upcharge, there was an option to add even more veggies to the soup. Nowhere in the description of this soup was it mentioned that it contained pork or red meat. The menu photo features an equally appetizing image of a pearly white soup punctuated by vibrant green vegetables. So, this is what I expected to start my supper with. Instead, I got a brownish dairy-based soup with strange bits of crinkly brown matter and an unfamiliar and sickly sweet aroma that did not resemble seafood. After one tasting, I realized that I had tasted pork! Fail! Match's menu description did not match the soup I received. Culinary strike one! After that, I tried the half-size portion of the cold lobster roll. The lobster looked and smelled fresh, which was promising. Yet, instead of a cold-style roll, it was a formerly warm, unusually seasoned "Connecticut" style roll. It was pretty spicy and served on an ordinary, dry roll. Culinary strike two! Finally, I moved on to the fried oysters. These were heavily breaded, greasy, and tasteless. Culinary strike three! Before this disappointing feast, the delivery driver failed to deliver! I contacted him to inquire where my order was. I left instructions for easy delivery to my door. However, where he left my first order was a mystery. He did not leave a photo per the app's policy. After calling the app's hotline to report my missing order, the restaurant delivered another one. It arrived quickly, without a hitch. I wish that it hadn't! Sadly, my food from Match was greasy, tasteless, misrepresented, and overpriced. It was greasy fast food offered at premium prices.
