I really enjoy this branch. Imelda is the ultimate librarian!! All of the employees are kind and helpful.

The young lady at the counter was extremely helpful as were the other staff members at the counter.

It's my 1st visit at this location. It has been over 30yrs since I've had a library card. Needless to say, I received outstanding service from one of the staff members. I will certainly be coming back with my new library card. Come check them out for yourself! read more

went into this branch with my 8 yr old daughter who was excited to check out some demon slayer books. she saw a drawing board and wanted to draw on it and that's when we were told that it was a teenage section was able to browse books but was not allowed in that area because I was a adult and she wasn't a teenager! I could understand if she wasn't behaving or I was just some creeper chilling in there, but that that lady totally ruined our experience visiting this branch for the first time, and arriving excited for my daughter on to leave irritated just ruined it for both of us! read more

You would think it wouldn't matter where you sit right? It's a Public library. But apparently sitting in the teenagers designated area is off limits. I wasn't bothering anyone and there was no one even in the section. Just pretty stupid rules. read more

This library has a great location, but not that great of a collection. This library seems to be rather tilted for the children and teenagers. There's a teen seating area. They have lots of Manga comics, and literature for teenagers. But the other collections aren't that great. Their nonfiction, books on tape and music collection could be stronger. I'm always a bit chagrined to see that they have multiple copies of some weird or off-the-wall book, but lack a single copy of a previous bestseller. Oh well, there's always the hold shelf. The librarians have been fairly nice, if not a little frosty. However, the library is clean, picked up, and well lit. The restrooms leave some to be desired, but that's alright, I suppose. It can be a bit difficult getting in and out of this place because of the one-way freeway access, so you have to go into that one-way alley by the garage and the fire station. read more

One of our most underutilized resources, as far as the city is concerned are our libraries. For me libraries can be a place to pursuit our literary endeavors. They can serve as a bridge for different socioeconomic groups to cross. Be it through books, DVDs, research, or as a place to study or special events. So when I recently upgraded my Kindle I decided to renew my library card, to check out E-books. The Westfall Library Branch is relatively small. There are but a few computers where patrons can sign in to use. The selection of books and movies is just as small as the building. They have self checkout shelves to forgo any lines. Librarians at the help desk will still check out books for you. While I do like this location and feel libraries are an important asset to any city my experience here left little to be desired. I initially stood in line with the expectation that a librarian would help me renew my card. In front of me was a gentleman who was carrying on a conversation with the person at the desk. I stood there for a few minutes until the librarian finally acknowledged i was there. As i approached the counter she seemed irritated. I'm not sure if it was due to me interrupting her conversation or the fact that i infringed on the gentleman's mack. Either way I feel that it influenced my service from that point onward. Mind you it has been awhile since i have renewed my card. I usually buy books online or purchase them at discount locations. Rather than go through the hassle of getting a new card i was able to locate my old one. The goal was to have it reactivated. Along with it I brought my debit card in the event that i owed any fines. The whole time i was waiting the counterperson rolled her eyes, with my library card in her hand; whilst looking at her computer. Not even giving me the courtesy of looking at me directly she said stretching her words, slowly "Do...........You .........Live..........At........This...............Address.." I'm not sure if she was insinuating that I was dumb or was trying to be sarcastic but I did not care for her snarky/snippy tone. She deduced that the card was an old one and that it had been deactivated. In hindsight I'm sure i did provide some confusion on my part, I accept that. But the way that the situation was handled seemed unprofessional. For me the assumption was that i was trying to pull something over her. It's not like i had the ten seasons of Downton Abbey, Train's Greatest Hits on dvd and a litany of books to check out, that would never be returned. It was just one card, that I wanted to renew, in order to check out E-books. When the situation was finally resolved my card was returned to me. No niceties, no basic staff to patron etiquette. More like "See ya, Deuce!" My experience felt more like a value judgement rather than someone seeking a resolution. Needless to say the service that was rendered that day was extremely poor. The importance of libraries in our community cannot be understated. Students, individuals and families certainly benefit when they, utilize them. I would not dissuade anyone from coming to this branch. However, it is my belief that a regard for libraries seems to be a dying art form as well as good interpersonal skills. read more

Visited this branch today for toddler time. The librarian was super friendly and really awesome with the kids. She remembered each one of their names and was very patient. Overall it was a great experience and I will definitely be bringing my daughter back again. read more

I attended the Westfall Branch Library's book sale yesterday and it was great! I learned my lesson from the last library book sale I went to (Igo library) and arrived 20 minutes early and I was one of the first few people in line. As soon as they opened the doors we were lead to a backroom. All of the books were neatly organized and they had donations of like-new books in addition to withdrawn library books. I appreciate that they had the children's books right in front with two tables for browsing. I was able to purchase 38 books for my classroom for $14.50!! The prices for children's books here was cheaper than the Igo Library (only 50 cents for hardback and 25 cents for paperback in comparison to $1.00 for hardback and 50 cents for paperback). The library staff were friendly and efficient for check out. I will definitely be coming back to this library in the future for their book sales! read more

Westfall has been my library for over 15 years. The most helpful and friendliest person there is Emelda; she goes out of the way to help everyone and has an enormous amount of knowledge about the library system. Have seen directors there come and go but she is the backbone of this library. read more

I called today to get some help for a library database that I could not access from my home computer.I relayed the information to the librarian and asked if she could assist me.She took my number and said that she would contact the web administrator.Twenty minutes later she called and found a work around for me to try and it worked.So pleased with their prompt and(may I add) ,free service.Great folks! read more

My son, who is Autistic, very much enjoys going to the Westfall Library to use their computers. His care giver, who usually takes him, states that there has never been a problem before dealing with the 20 minute cutoff on use of the computer. However, he also stated that they have always dealt with the same extremely nice and helpful lady in that department. Unfortunately, it appears that not all staff at the library are as nice and/or professional. Today they arrived at the library at 4:45pm, and were told by the lady at the computer desk that some one was already using, and that there would be the 20 minute wait. After a half hour, the care giver went to the lady to inquire as to when the computer would be able to be used by my son. He was told the person was not done yet, but she would get my son in to use it in about 5 minutes. Twenty minutes later, still no computer available. By this time my son was very upset that he was not getting his turn and began to act out. As a result, the care giver had to take my son and leave. The care giver told me my son cried the whole way home. Just wonder if the library habitually does not enforce the use time limits, or if it was a situational decision by the lady on staff today, whom the care giver described as 'cold and crabby', due to my son's obvious disability?? read more
