Took my watch in for a battery replacement. The battery was not staying in place for me, and I could not get the back of the watch to snap back on. They put a new battery in, got the back of the watch back on, and the watch is working again. Fair price, too. Sent my father to pick up an anklet. Paid for the repairs but the anklet was NEVER placed in the bag. Owner said she would review footage and speak to the individual and get back to us. Nothing.... careless It took over 2 months for the repair and now we are out $73. In addition, In April took a watch in for a battery. Back keeps falling off, clearly damaged by the individual who changed the battery. And yes I have had it back and they say there is nothing wrong with it. Went in last week to see if they had a specific brand of watches. There were 2 visible employees...one was eating her lunch and the other was on her cell phone. Neither greeted me or asked if I needed help. After telling me she didn't have the brand, I looked around and saw a beautiful medal. I asked if there were any more. The girl on her cell phone just pointed. I was turning around in circles trying to find them, and she didn't get up or even look up from her phone. I felt very uncomfortable like I was bothering her. I took a broken rosary on August 10 to Westgate. After many calls with untrue answers regarding the delay, I was called to pickup my "repair". After 6 weeks, the still broken rosary was given back to me. And when I asked to talk to the manager on one of my phone calls, I was told that she had just walked out. I gave them a photo of what I wanted and immediately they gave me a price, estimated completion date and everything I needed. The price was very reasonable and the customer service was fabulous. I thought it was just me that got ROTTEN service but I see I'm one of many. I'll never be back. I asked the price of getting something engraved and the girl doing some repair acted like I was bothering her. I was the only one in the store. She didn't even look at me and said it was 15$/letter which I said "A LETTER" to make sure that I heard right. It grunted "uh-huh". Extremely poor service. A.) Look up and smile and ask if you can help me B.) When 15$ a letter makes someone gag, match the price (I went somewhere else, got no attitude and got the whole thing else). A sale is better than no sale. C.) That attitude cost future sales. When I say I will never be back, it doesn't mean, for 6 months. D.) In the age of the internet, bad service = bad reviews. Westgate Jewelers is absolutely the worst jeweler imaginable. I brought in a 1963 gold Longine watch for mainspring and crystal repair. They had it "ready" for me a week *after* the promised date. I put "ready" in quotes because when I took one look at the watch I could clearly see two gouges in the face. These weren't mere scratches mind you, but two creased scorings over the dial. After denying that they were there at all 'I don't see anything" (Yes she looked at these line and said that--while using an eyepiece), the owner claimed it was just some resin on the inside of the crystal. This in spite of it OBVIOUSLY being gouged on the face, you could see the bloody second hand pass over it! Seriously, she actually told me that she is "an expert" and I am just not seeing it properly. She also said the second gouge was an old nicotine stain! Once again, a blind man could see that it is gouged--and a fine watch whose cover has never been removed is not likely to have such a stain--at least not one in the shape of a cut on the face. So after her denying any damage for over a half an hour, she finally agreed to keep the watch and "remove the resin," telling me it will be ready by the following Friday. Fast forward A MONTH! By this time I've called them a couple of time. Their employee tells me that the owner has the watch and is in the process of cleaning the "nicotine stain." Bear in mind, there was none and I did not ask for it to be cleaned--just repaired. I'm told it will be ready in a week. THREE WEEKS later I call gain. I'm told the watch is undergoing some sort of "process" whatever that means. Why yes, it turn out it is indeed gouged. (No kidding) Why no, WE didn't do it (Apparently the watch gouging fairies came in and did it. too bad they did it while they had the watch.) MORE flipping denials follow--bear in mint that it physically impossible for this watch to hve been damaged by anyone other than the owner who was the only one who had removed the old crystl and replaced it. Finally she comes up with one hell of a wacky argument. Here it is: The owner tells me that she never noticed the gouges until I pointed them out (in spite of her looking at the face through jewelers' glasses while she replaced the crystal) AND that I also had never noticed them since I had gotten it from my father's widow in 1976, so OBVIOUSLY it must have been there all along! What was she thinking? Did she really think I'd smack my forehead and say, WOW! It was damaged all along and I never noticed! What an amazing happenstance! Throughout the course of this ordeal she has lied to me numerous times abut more things than I can easily recount.--and when this angers me she dares accuse me of using disrespectful language! I finally have the watch back with a promise that I had to extract from her in her store while customers were present that she will pay for its repair--and frankly I expect that she will surely try to deny that when the time comes for her to pay. This is easily the most unprofessional, incompetent business owner I have had the great displeasure to deal with. I adjure you to avoid this business unless you enjoy being angered, provoked and lied to outright. Westgate Jewelers is truly horrid. read more

For any brides or couples looking for a custom ring - this is a great place with a pleasant shopping experience! My favorite thing about Westgate is how comfortable they make the shopping experience. At no point did we feel any pressure to spend more money or to go "bigger" in any way. I was greeted, explained my situation, they said it would be 7 dollars and 95 cents plus tax, and they fixed it while I waited about 3 minutes and petted the store's cute mascot, Chaplin the cat. Always a disappointment in customer service. If it was not for the merchandise that they carry, I would NEVER shop there. The associates are never friendly and seldom greet you upon entering the store. Once you have their attention and are engaging with them, they are less than personable. Such a shame, considering they have very desirable merchandise. If only they were trained in customer service, instead of appearing to be bothered by customers. Please be aware of the experience my mother in law just had before deciding to make a purchase from this store. My mother in law wanted to get her 80+ year old father a new watch because his eye sight (legally blind) had made it impossible to see his old time piece. She went into the store and explained that she wouldn't be able to say with certainty if he'd be able to see clearly any of the watches they sold, but she wanted to test the one that seemed best. She purchased the watch and brought it to her fathers assisted living facility. He was not able to make use of the watch unfortunately. She immediately returned to the store asking to return it, and was refused. Even speaking to one of the owners, she was given no option to recover her money. Now I've always been a supporter of local businesses, as there's usually more caring and understanding than you would normally find at a nationwide chain. In this situation, I'm sickened. This is the first step in spreading the word about a business that would swindle the elderly. I will be assisting my mother in law in any way possible, including contacting the Better Business Bureau. You can't point to a fine print policy all you want, but you cheated a customer of many years, and her elderly father. Shameful behavior, especially around the holidays. Should you wish to change your stance and do the right thing, I will gladly revise my review. read more

I drove from Egypt to see if they'd buy them and she took a look at them and says they are real but I only buy they set in gold . I would like to express my complete disappointment with Westgate Jewelers. I got engaged 4 months ago (November 4) and brought my beautiful engagement ring to get resized at Westgate Jewelers. When the ring was resized, I drove the half of mile home, took a look at my ring only to discover that the diamond was loose and chipped! When my fiance brought the ring back, the owner denied chipping the diamond. To make a very long story short- lawsuits had to be threatened and FOUR months passed until this issue was resolved. I completely understand that mistakes happen and jewelry can be damaged during resizing, etc. HOWEVER, it was completely unacceptable how this situation was handled by Westgate Jewelers... A professional jeweler would have immediately addressed the issue and stood behind their service. For FOUR months I had no ring to show anyone to go along with the excitement of getting engaged. Thanksgiving, Christmas, family events, etc. have all passed and none of my family members or friends could see the ring. The first thing anyone says to a newly engaged couple is "Let me see the ring!" and Westgate Jewelers singlehandedly took that away from me for four months. Now that the issue has finally been resolved, and I finally have my ring back, I will continue to spread the word about my negative experience with Westgate Jewelers. read more

I was looking for a nice vintage/estate piece to wear on the holidays; was sold a supposed vintage sterling marcasite locket with mother-of pearl cameo. Paid over $75.00 for it. When money problems cropped up, I took it to a refiner to possibly sell it, and was told the marcasites weren't genuine, and the cameo was plastic. I recently had a diamond cluster ring repaired and sized. I lost a stone and needed the ring sized up a size. I took it to Westgate Jewelers and they quoted me a price and gave me a tentative time frame of seven to ten days. I had the ring back in three days. They replaced the lost stone, sized it and polished it. It was also under the estimaged price. The ring looks beautiful and fits well. I will now take other pieces that need repair to this jeweler. I encountered a horrible attitude with their jeweler buyer. I took two pieces (a necklace and an engagement ring) to be quoted to turn in. I didn't sell the pieces because I wanted to get a second opinion (always smart to do). I found someone else willing to give me more for the necklace so I sold it. I went back with the ring (the other guy was slightly lower) and the lady said if I didn't have the (totally unrelated) neckalce, she no longer wanted the ring! And she was quite snippy about it. I took a Movado ladies watch, never wore before, in the box, like new, to possibly sell. The jewelry "expert" took it to the back of the store to open it and verify it was an original and not a counterfit. After the verification process she made me an offer that I refused. When I got home and looked at the watch I noticed a huge scratch on the back of it, where she open it. A jewelry professional should have the right instruments for the job. Not telling me she had scratch it was low. I'm very disappointed and will never go there again. Poor service. read more

I try to use local indepedent businesses and took a necklace to get repaired by Westgate Jewelers. I dropped it off on 12/28 because of a broken clasp. They have a prominent sign which states that they do repairs. I was told they didn't have a clasp and would have to order one. That should have been a warning sign. I called ten days later to check on the status and was told that the chain broke. She started to give me a price for the chain repair. It was in their possession when it broke. They reluctantly agreed to fix it at no cost to me. I called on 1/27 and was told it still wasn't fixed and of course the repair person wasn'available. I went there on 1/28 with the intention of taking the neclace somewhere else. Surprise..surprise...it was somehow finished...I will never be doing business again with these people. Brought fossil watch in for a battery replacement. After replacing 2 batteries for 20 dollars the analog operation of the watch did not work. The second hand would not go. The digital operation did work. It was the digital operation that I needed a battery for when I entered the establishment. The older nasty lady who worked on the watch told me she bent back a clip because she didn't think it was an important piece and she needed to move it to get the battery out. When the owner heard me talking about the problem she said she needed to know about this and would take it up with the sales lady because she addresses these situations. I said good because she broke my watch. Very indignantly she snapped back she did not break your watch(the owner). I said the second hand worked when I brought it in now that she took it apart and put it back together now it doesn't work. I call that broken. They did send it out to get it working. Eight days and no charge, and I did get my watch back. Avoid Westgate Jewlers at all cost. read more

Extremely disappointing service. Brought in 2 pairs of earrings to have a minor repair on the crimp (the part that the hook snaps onto behind your ear lobe). After 7 weeks with no contact, I called them to check on the earrings. Haven't had anything repaired there previously, so I wasn't sure about the turnaround time. I was told they would call me back. A week later I called them again. After 9 weeks, I got the earrings. I wore one of the pairs and as I was taking the earring out, the part that was repaired popped off. When I took them back in 2 weeks ago, I had both earrings and showed them the problem to be fixed. Two days ago, they called to ask me to bring in the 2nd earring, since they told me to just leave the one that needed to be fixed. I took the match back to the store, where they proceeded to tell me that they believed that I gave them the earring that they hadn't fixed. After accusing me of lying (it was an $18 repair), they told me that they could tell it was the other earring because the gold wasn't as shiny and there was a dent in the one they fixed. These were hollow tubes, both dented, and THEY CLEANED BOTH OF THEM the first time I took them in. Plus, they couldn't find "their repair mark" on either of the earrings. In this day and age, where customer service is critical, I can't believe they accused me of lying and refused to fix their FAULTY WORKMANSHIP!!. All for a $2 piece of metal and the 5 minutes it takes to attach it properly. I am truly surprised at the gall and unprofessionalism of the owner Laurel. Never ever trust westgate Jewelers! I brought my wedding band there to have a missing diamond replaced. I picked up my ring WEEKS later and it looked fine. Not 2 months later the diamond was missing and I brought it back for repair. After the second repair I noticed a week later that the stone looked different. I took it to another jeweler to have it looked at what I was told alarmed me. Not only was the replacement diamond SMALLER than my other diamonds but another diamond was originally switched with a yellowy diamond the first time. So not only did they switch diamonds around the first time, but they did not care enough the second time to even try to match the replacement with a diamond of the same size!!!! What crooks!!!! I brought the ring back to them again demanding they repair it correctly and the held on to my ring for 16 days before I went in and found that they were holding my ring and were not intending to work on it!!!!!! Needless to say the OWNer? threw $100 at my husband (proving they knew they were wrong), And we stormed out of the store with my ring that still needs repairing. This time instead of one diamond replaced, I now need 2 replaced! read more
