I got him home and he was limping, went back up here and the guy only said sorry I forgot I dropped him. My dog had to have surgery on his leg. I had to pay for the surgery not Westgate Vet. I had to unexpectedly put my 2 year old service dog down due to sudden paralyzation. She couldn't move, but still felt pain in her back and legs. She was unable to even use the bathroom, so I knew it was time. She would very quickly become more sick without using the bathroom. My vet is in Nashville, so I had to pick a place to sadly euthanize her. I picked Westgate because I had heard great things and they were the most affordable for this service. When I got there, I booked for the last appt of the day and walked into a procedural room to no one in there. My dog was dead weight and no one was in there to tell me where to lay her when I walked in. The vet didn't say a single word to me, never made any eye contact, and even referred to my dog as a he. I don't know the vet's name or anything because of this. It was like there was a wall up between my support system and I, and this staff. My girl was sadly stuck in the middle of this. He was calloused, insensitive and extremely disrespectful to me and my service dog. The vet also got frustrated talking to the vet tech because my dog's legs were stiff. He kept telling the vet tech to move her body around and I tried to warn them that her sciatic nerve was causing her extreme pain. Still didn't say a word to me. They were holding her up and she wasn't laid down until she was gone. She wasn't comfortable. The vet did it so quickly and rushed because it was Friday before Labor Day. That's all I can assume from his disgusting behavior. They didn't ask if I wanted to say anything or had any last wishes for her. No calming medication was administered before they put her down. She was scared and confused. I stopped them to ask if the pink syringe was "it" and the VET TECH responded quietly, "yes ma'am." So as quickly as I could, I made sure my baby was looking at me and I told her how much I loved her and how thankful I was that she was my service dog and seizure response dog. I wasn't told how quickly it would take effect or anything before it was administered. They walked out of the room and I spent maybe 30 minutes after in there processing what just happened and sobbing over my girl. The vet walked in and out awkwardly and at one point showed up to make it obvious he had changed from his work uniform to his regular clothes. Even walked in and out to get his phone. BUT never said a word. If he had been kinder, introduced himself, and expressed his condolences and apologized for the circumstances, I wouldn't be as upset. I understand some people don't want to be talked to during a time like this, but the LEAST you can do is show gentleness and kindness in these moments. As I walked out of the room, leaving my girl's body behind, the receptionists did express their condolences. I appreciated that, they seemed nice. I just stepped forward from my group that came with me and said, "take care of her, she was a service dog. Is there anything else you need from me?" They said no and explained when I could come by for her remains, and I left. I will be talking directly to the business when I come to pick up my girl's remains and telling them my frustrations. I'm not usually one to EVER write a bad review and give benefit of the doubt...but THIS was unacceptable. Shame on Westgate. To my Lulu, I'm so sorry you became suddenly paralyzed and got the diagnosis of a painful disease. You didn't deserve this. We were suppose to live many years together. You also didn't deserve the disrespectful procedure that Westgate provided. If I had known, I would've spent more money for a gentler, more empathetic service. It's now been a month without you, and learning to navigate life and my disability without you has been unexplainably painful. I'm just sorry I chose this place for our final moments. read more

I have been going to Dr Denton for over 20 years for my father's pets and mine. Both Dr Denton and Dr Shoulders are great and compassionate. Mote reasonable than other vets. But their receptionist is rude. Made appt for my diabetic cat abs when I arrived Angela said it was for next Thurs. Not today. I called a few days ago to verify appointment She said I should've given you a cars yet she didn't. I was talking to some people in the vet room about their dog and she told me not to bother them. I was there last week texting someone about paying her bill abd she told me to move. Where there's plenty of room. My dog had an ear cropping procedure done on Friday... 3 days later the stitches came out. When I asked them to fix it they told me no. They also said that I don't know what I'm talking about and to leave it alone so it will heal. When I mentioned I wasn't comfortable leaving a wound open. I have been here 3 times with my cat. This does not seem like a cat-friendly place. My cat has motion sickness and vomits, urinates, and defecates in her crate every time. When I asked about them cleaning her up they said they don't groom or give baths ... and if I wanted a paper towel. Then the waits on Saturday Walk In's are very long. I just left there this morning after waiting an hour and a half and they still have not called me. Their method is to sign in and have you wait in your car. I got there before they were open to a full parking lot. My cat laid in her mess for 1.5 hrs before I went home and cleaned her up. It's 2 hrs later and they have yet to call for me to come in. I will not be going back. Side note: I had emailed them my cat's records from previous vet with vaccinations. Last time I was there I asked about when she was due, they failed to put her vaccinations into their records and didn't even make an appointment to get her caught up. I will be going back to the other vet. More expensive, further drive, but MUCH better service and care. read more

Thought to write this review as I am sitting here on Thanksgiving day in the vets office. Today my little black lab got hit by a truck and I could not find a vet near me to answer, and some did but told me the couldn't see him. Very difficult to get in for an emergency. But, for routine vet visits it's definitely the most affordable. Not the most personable staff or doctors...but the price "can" be right. It's a very very busy place. They have walk-in/sick visits on Saturday from 7 to 12?. You need to get there by 5:30 AM. They lineup that early. read more

My brother took his pets to Dr Denton's and my new puppy had been there before so I took here back there. The place stunk like pee. There was pee in the floor and the receptionist took forever to clean it up. So against my best judgement, I left her there for boarding. She was also to get shots and a bath and a nail trim. I go to pick her up and she hadn't had her shots. She smelled like pee. Her bed was wet and stunk so bad. She did get a nail trim though. I was so disappointed. I felt like I had let my puppy down. I will not take my pet there ever again and I will not recommend them to anybody. read more

This is the best vet I have EVER been to. I moved here from Southern California where if your animal chips a nail they want to run all kinds of unnecessary tests and charge you a $1000+. I was shocked when I first went here and my bill for something pretty important was below $50. These doctors care about my dog, they put him at ease and they do extremely inexpensive boarding as well. I tell everyone I recommend to them that if I were to ever move out of state again and something major happened to my dog that I'd fly right back to get him treated here. That's how much I like these people. I've tried other vets in town, too, before finding this place. No thanks. Expensive and unhelpful. This is the place to go. If only I could teleport my cat, I would still bring him here. Dr. Denton is fantastic and truly cares about each and every animal that comes in. Get there early and expect a long wait, because this is the cheapest vet in the area and people come from miles around with their pets. That said, the wait is worth it. Kind, professional staff who do their best for you and your pet, and provide low-cost vet care to those who otherwise couldn't afford it. NOTE: You absolutely must bring a carrier or leash, because the front door is about two feet from very busy Russellville Road, and animals with irresponsible owners are often hit right in front of the hospital! I can not begin to say enough about this place. I had never taken my dog here before. I truly wished I had. My dog needed to be put down that day. But All Creatures Animal Hospital cared more about staff meetings than the comfort of my pet. They took us in at our need and couldn't have been more caring. I bought nexgard from them. It is suppose to have 6 pills but there was only 3 in the box when I opened it. I tried to call them to tell them and see if there was anything they can do since I wasn't given all of them. They told me there was nothing they could do about it. Terrible. Dr. Denton is the sweetest man and was born to do his job. My puppy struggled with separation anxiety and when I would leave she would scratch her kennel til her paws would bleed. The first time she did it I freaked out, called Westgate and Dr Denton came in after close, took care of her and only charged me $13 for her medicine. Incredibly low rates, and service by a man who is genuinely in it for the animals. Side note- the secretary can be a bit rude at times, don't let her ruin the service for you! read more

We love Dr. Denton, he really is in it for the animals. Other vets should follow this man's lead. We tried other vets in the area, not to say they aren't in it for the animals but the money is top priority with Dr. Denton the animals are his top priority. We took in a foster dog a couple of years ago and he was really, really sick and he was such a young pup but the humane society couldn't figure what was wrong with him, we took him to our vet, we knew if anyone could get this pup well it was going to be Dr. Denton. We decided to absorb the cost, but when we had taken him, Dr. Denton ran tests and they were extensive test and this little fellow had every parasite known to dog and some were deadly so Dr. Denton put him on some heavy medication and explained to use what to expect and how he really appreciates people who foster dogs especially those who are ill and he didn't charge us anything, that is who this vet is. If you are looking for a vet for your beloved animal, Dr. Denton is the vet I recommend. read more

My mother took our dog to the veterinarian to have her teeth cleaned. When she returned to pick up her dog, they had pulled her four front teeth without consulting any of us. They simply stated that this is common practice and most people understand this. I don't care whether it was "necessary" or not, we should have been consulted beforehand and it shouldn't have been done without our consent. They didn't even disclose that this could be a possibility before our dog was dropped off. We won't be returning in the future. read more

Pros and Cons of Westgate- 1. I would never leave my dog here for the kennel. It is SO small and not exactly well kept up with,. 2. The secretary can be very rude or very nice depending on her mood. 3. Dr. Denton is a sweetheart. He seems like just a genuine man and is never rushing me out of there. 4. Be prepared to wait. Also, call a long time ahead for an appt. Even then you will have to wait! 5. The prices are wonderful. We can't afford 100 each time we go to a vet appt, and his prices are very budget friendly. Dr. Linze has done several surgeries on my 10+ year old boxer. Twice to remove cancerous skin tumours and once to suture a ripped ear from a fight. Always does a beautiful job, her ear is near perfect. Less expensive than most vets, I have sent my friends to her and Dr. D for surgeries other vets wouldn't touch or wanted 4 times the cost. I initially chose to take my dog here because of the incredibly reasonable rates, which I have appreciated. However, several bad experiences have led me to look elsewhere. While Dr. Denton may be a fine vet, I have repeatedly experienced terrible customer service and ridiculously long wait times. Last week I took my dog in for a heartworm test prior to being able to get Revolution from an online retailer. Supposedly an emergency walk-in came in before me. I waited a full hour before being called in, for a 5 minute blood draw. While I wouldn't mind waiting for an emergency walk-in, the doctor also spent about 15 minutes talking to clients who'd already been into the exam room, about their dog (this could have been done over the phone later rather than with a pile of clients backed up), in the waiting room. This was adding to the crowded conditions in the tiny waiting room, which is very stressful when multiple large dogs are in there at once. Long story short, not once did the vet or staff even acknowledge my presence or apologize for the long wait time. The other times I've been there I've spent between 20 and 40 minutes waiting. As far as my Revolution order with the online retailer, they faxed for approval from Dr. Denton, and for some reason he refuses to fax prescriptions. The lady at the front desk attempted to explain why this was, and I didn't understand what she was trying to tell me. So I waited an additional 15 minutes after our appointment for him to see another client, before he filled out a hand-written prescription that I would either have to mail in or fax myself. It had my old mailing address on the prescription, which I didn't want to ask to have changed since I'd been there for nearly an hour and a half already. So that lead to another chunk of my time wasted with the online retailer as they tried to make sense of what address to send the prescription to. I will be finding another vet because of my experiences here. read more
