Amazing preschool and staff. Every teacher we've had between our two boys (over the past 5 years) has been so nurturing and just the best. My kids rave about them, we do, other parents do as well... and the kids can feel that love which is just the best! The Westin community is such a great group of people who genuinely care. Westminster Preschool is the best! We have had two children come through their preschool time!! So far a total of 6 years. The school and all of the teachers are kind and nurturing. It is the perfect place for kids to start to learn and play. When kids have a hard time with drop off they let you stay and make your child comfortable (if that is what you want) they don't push you to do things as they want, they let you make the choices for what is best for you and your child. They are flexible and understanding in a world that isn't always. We couldn't have been happier looking forward to next year when our youngest will start!! My two girls have been at Westminster Pres Preschool for the last 3 years and it's been a wonderful place for them. WestPres preschool was such a critical part of my daughter's development. Coming out of COVID, she didn't have as much experience socializing with peers. However, by the end of her 2 years at WestPres she had completely come out of her shell. She had made friends, learned foundational academic skills, and developed leadership abilities. The staff are attentive and warm. They are always approachable and communicative. I felt like my daughter was in such good hands when she was there. The first day he had an epic meltdown which caused me to have a meltdown and I swear Heather, being the angel that she is, is the only reason the two of us made it through that day. We love Westminster. My son will start TK in the fall, but he needed a year of preschool before he started. This place was genuinely perfect, and I looked into a TON of preschools in the area. We are not a religious family by any stretch of the imagination, so I was slightly wary of sending him to a church-affiliated preschool, but on second thought, I reasoned that religion exists in the world...what's the harm in exposing him to it? And what these kids are exposed to is very non-dogmatic: a few jaunty hymns sung for 5 minutes in the chapel once a week before school, and only the most basic of life lessons that Christianity teaches. Very, very light, and most essentially; good. Besides that aspect, all of the teachers are kind and loving and helpful, the curriculum is fun and rigorous and they come out knowing their ABCs, how to count, write their name, and a whole mess of other facts about books, animals and the world! They also have a variety of schedules to choose from- only morning, only afternoon, both, etc. so they fit virtually anyone's working schedule. They involve the parents in a variety of ways, so you always know what's going on withn your child, and never feel out of the loop. A wonderful place that I am so glad my son was exposed to. If I could give this school a negative star I would. I enrolled my daughter based on recommendations from friends. However, my experience did not match theirs. My daughter started mid year when a spot opened up in their youngest class. The first week, we got feedback from the teachers that she was doing "great." Then one day at pick up her teacher (literally with one hand on her hip and the other signaling me to come in) states "we need to talk". She said there was an "incident" with my daughter and that she was given time out. I immediately thought the worse. Turns out she was told to put a toy away and she didn't. Then she was told to go to time out. She then proceeded to cry for the rest of the day. My daughter in 2 and let's remember - her first time in preschool and not familiar with all the "rules." To her teacher, it was a huge deal that she didn't put the toy away. According to the CDC parenting guidelines, and the majority of education experts, time outs don't work with 2 year olds because they see them as "punishment." In fact most preschools don't do them at this age. Additionally, if they are going to be used as a parenting/corrective technique: 1) the concept of a time out needs to first be explained; 2) timeout cannot last more than 2 minutes; 3) someone needs to stay with the child so they don't view it as punishment; 4) and last, they need to be given 3 warnings to correct their behavior before they get put in timeout. None of this was done with my daughter. NONE. I asked to speak with the director to express my concerns about how the situation was handled. Her response "if you don't like it you can leave." I was shocked! She didn't care. Then she sent me an email stating that after "further thought" it was best that "we part ways." I honestly was in disbelief that the director's (Kendra Holly) way of dealing with a parents concern was to kick them out! WOW! I honestly wonder if she would have treated a Caucasian parent the way she treated us. I only say this because there is no real diversity at this school. In terms of teachers and student body. We are latino. Regardless, parents beware. Please don't send your children to a preschool with this attitude. There are MANY excellent preschools in the area that have much better (developmentally appropriate) philosophies when it comes to teaching and working with children. read more

I think this school gave me a great foundation for academic success, social skills, and creativity! I have watched the program grow over the years and I believe it deserved the title of BEST IN BURBANK for the past two years. I'm unsure who actually makes the time to write these, but the negativity I see is appalling and I couldn't help but respond. This school has very kind and concerned teachers and an extremely dedicated director. They put child safety, kindness, and education and creativity before anything else. You cannot find a better program in Burbank. If you need new-aged yoga/preschool for your children, maybe you should reevaluate your priorities. I can honestly say one of the things I was most sad about when moving to the east coast was having to pull my twins out of Westminster preschool. Although we were only there through one summer and a few months into the school year, it truly felt like we were part of the family. It is immediately apparent that the teachers and staff genuinely care deeply about each and every child that comes through their doors; it is such a warm and nurturing environment, for students and parents alike. My kids absolutely LOVED this school and they showed so much growth in just the short time we were there. Allow me to say this is the absolute best preschool in Burbank. You're not just introducing your child to a school environment. WesPres Preschool offers children a compassionate, patient, and proactive establishment that encourages a healthy education AND social decency. In 2015 we had the most DIFFICULT experience touring preschools. The schools that looked advanced, clean, had tablets at the tables, nap time, were far out of our budget being over 1,000 dollars a month. I suppose being in a so called "suburb" of Los Angeles those places exist, but I was unaware of their proximity to Burbank. Other schools that we had looked at were atrociously appalling. From cockroach traps easily accessible to children in corners of rooms, to shared boy/girl bathrooms without stall dividers and an open door policy, we were discouraged. These were in our price range, but never could I justifiably place my daughter in a situation where she'd be sitting down to take a tinkle with a boy two years older than her standing there "whippin' his boy stuff" out a foot and a half a way. As a mother I was so defeated thinking about what we'd have to compromise on in order to get her in a social environment. After I'd completely given up her father had made two last blind calls to see if there was availability and touring. He had gotten a hold of someone and we were set up to come view the very next day. Before I set foot in the door I was already expecting the worst, just because of the price range. I am so SO grateful for the slap this preschool gave me that knocked my judgmental, cost obsessive head off my shoulders. The school administrator, Lisa, took us through and listened to my rant on our terrible experiences like she was my therapist. I needed a session after three months, the poor woman sat through my stories which completely reflected my irritation and took me through a tour of it all. The rooms were colorful, adorable, fun. They reminded me of something you'd seen out of a movie. Toys everywhere with constructive and educational material garnishing the walls. Individual little cubbie trays for the children to place their finished work in. Decorated hallways for the fall ready to welcome students. A beautiful christian emphasis with loving messages. We were decided before we walked out the door. My daughter is in her second year of preschool here, and allow me to say what she's accomplished as an individual with her arithmetic, English, personality development, and social ability has stunned me. The amount of hands on activity my child gets with other students and teachers is unbelievably impressive. If I wanted her receiving her education from a tablet I wouldn't send her outside the house, I'd hire a tutor. My brilliant little girl is developing LIFE skills, along with her creativity, and her smarts. The conflict resolution she's able to demonstrate on her own accord, the way she runs to the swing on the playground since they've taught her to do it herself, to her very first by herself written sentence given to me on mother's day, are all thanks to the progress she's made at this Westminster. There isn't a better school to be found anywhere in the surroundings, because they care. They demonstrate compassion for all individuals in those classrooms and outside of them. Run from this school, if you want your children to have any self confidence whatsoever. The teachers are subpar and the director is shameful. Thank heaven I took my son out after a few months and saved his dignity and well being. They have no kindness, understanding or empathy towards children. It is a skewed mistake of a preschool. I can not say enough amazing things about this preschool, my son went to Westminster for 2 years and my daughter is with them now. I feel like its not just a school but a family. They have treated my kids like their own. They are loving, nurturing, and caring. They helped my son move on to Tk in the most easy way. He still talks about his teachers all the time and everytime I tell my daughter "its time for schoo"l she cheers for joy! I have 2 kids- One who already "graduated" and one who attends Westminster now. The teachers here are loving and kind and both of my kids LOVE their preschool. When looking for preschools you have to decide exactly what you want. We were interested in a small, traditional, neighborhood school that was close to our home and where we knew our kids would be well loved. We found that here at Westminster. The director Lisa is super sweet and I appreciate that she is in the hallway every morning to greet families and students and has always been available to answer questions etc. The curriculum well prepared my son to enter Kindergarten in BUSD and got him used to the traditional classroom setting and expectations. Because the school is faith based, there are several opportunities throughout the year to participate in giving to those less fortunate. I love that my children have this experience. The families who attend Westminster are equally great and we have all made some amazing friends there. If you are looking for a Reggio or Montessori methods preschool with less structure, this might not be the right fit. If you are looking for an awesome, safe school that will prepare your child for Kindergarten this is it. read more

A close relative of mine recently pulled their children from this school, and upon further examination of the school and faculty I quickly became appalled at the low standards set for our children. The school playground can barely be considered a playground, and there is no shade for the children at all. In addition, the program director is extremely rude, and has the attitude that money is the top priority, not caring for what the kids need. Overall, the program is flawed, as we would rarely receive progress reports or any personalized feedback whatsoever. Don't be reeled in by the low prices because in this case, you get what you pay for. Do not even consider sending your kids to this school! read more

I can't believe that this school is still operating after all the horrible things I have heard about it and experienced! One day, when I was dropping my son off at school, there was no teacher in the classroom. There were children in the class from the morning session but no teacher. I waited for about a minute and a half and finally the teacher came in. She had no excuse as to why she was not in class. The front door to the school was right next to the classroom and WIDE OPEN. Any kid could have wandered out the front door and into the parking lot and no one would have noticed. When I talked to one of the directors she said she was supposed to be watching the class and wondered, out loud, where she was?? My son got injured one day and the teachers had a from for me to sign when I picked him up. I asked what had happened and the teacher THAT HAD SIGNED THE FORM said she didn't see it happen but heard he fell. I began to worry about my son and his safety so I pulled him out of school.
