Both times we found a supportive community of caring parents, staff and teachers who share values of generosity, respect for children's development, the importance of civic responsibility, and the value of learning through independent and collaborative play. They were also both very well prepared for kinder when the time came! Any family that I've recommended the school to has raved about their experience and many have said they wished they'd found it sooner for their child or older children. This review is regarding the mommy and me classes offered. I signed up for the class last fall and was disappointed to see it was not very well thought out as far as topics discussed and general structure. The instructor seemed reliant on the moms partaking to get the conversation going. After the 2nd class and impromptu scheduling conflicts, I decided it was not a good fit, and was told I would receive a refund for the remaining classes. After multiple email correspondences, where it was confirmed I would receive a refund, months went by with no reimbursement. After I reached out to the instructor yet again, she stated that Gaby Katz informed her I would received a check in the mail. I reached out yet again via email-twice and was ignored. I regret my experience and am appalled at the lack of professionalism in simply communicating. read more

I have four kids, and we went to four different pre-schools. I am so sad that I did not discover BTEE until it was time for our youngest to start school. We happened to move a block away from it, and checked it out. This school is perfect. The teachers are the best, the vibes are extremely pleasant and low-key, and its the perfect combination of learning and social skills. I was SO HAPPY with this school and again, i have four kids and the other schools we attended (two of them were very "fancy") just didn't hold a candle to this one. The other parents are so kind and easy to get along with, and there were no status battles or weird dynamics. The kids were just so happy and our child was reading by age 4 (YMMV). Cannot recommend this school enough. I know this review is probably too glowing and will seem fake but I'm a real person and I just loved it here and so did our sweet little guy. read more

I'm back at BTEE ECC with my second kid and am struck by how beautiful and strong the sense of community is--even my second time around. I know a lot of people are in search of a hard-to-define "good vibe" when they're looking for preschool and it feels good to be able to recommend this so wholeheartedly. They really address the whole child here, bringing kids through a world of play, learning, and friendships, all while encouraging confidence and a strong sense of self. Let's see, what else? We found this preschool in the fall of 2021 (a recommendation by a brand-new friend I'll be forever grateful for). We had just moved to the area, and being part of this school has made our entire experience in this town. Not only has our daughter thrived and grown (the teachers are so sweet and caring), my husband and I have found friends too! BTEE brings you in as part of the community, whether you're Jewish or not (we're not, by the way, and have always felt included). This was our neighborhood preschool so we weren't sure it would automatically be the best choice. Plus our child is mixed race and we wanted to make sure she would fit in. Our experience has been fantastic. The school is not heavy on the religious aspects, although that is certainly part of it. The intros to art, gardening, science, gymnastics, spelling/counting, and play are really wonderful and a great prelim to kindergarten. Plus a great social experience with many nationalities represented. And for parents there's a great sense of community. We're not religious but we will remain members of the temple because everyone is so warm and supportive. FYI, there is NO pressure to be a part of the temple if all you want is preschool for your child. Lots of school-related social opportunities unrelated to the temple itself. All are truly welcome. Kosher lunches are a pain but that's about all I can criticize. Well worth it for the awesome experience. read more

I had two kids come through this preschool program, and we had such a positive experience. From the teachers, to the administration, as well as the parents and children, everyone is enthusiastic, friendly, and supportive. I started in 2017 with an introductory "Mommy and Me" type class that met once a week. Then in 2018, my oldest child started as a little monkey in the preschool program and in August 2023 my youngest child ended our BTEE experience as a leopard. Both of my kids entered kindergarten well prepared socially and academically compared to their peers. While this school places more emphasis on the social skills rather than academic skills, in my opinion, seeing my kids develop qualities like kindness, empathy, and the ability to share was more important at this age. They also knew how to write their name and say basic numbers, letters, etc, so that academic stuff exists there, too. Also, my kids met friends they will keep for many years to come. This was a wonderful community to be part of over the past 7 years, and I highly recommend the BTEE preschool program. read more

We are so lucky we found BTEE. My older son is going into his third year there and my youngest is in the middle of his first year. They both love it, eagerly run in every morning and excitedly tell me about their days when I pick them up. The community is warm and welcoming and down to earth, it is easy and seamless to get involved, the teachers are absolutely amazing, and the school's values are excellent. The kids are learning a lot too--though it's mostly play based they have cool science instruction, gymnastics, and music once a week, in addition to the regular curriculum, which usually revolves around a fun theme every week. Safe, wonderful place for preschool and wonderful, welcoming community for families. You will not find more caring set of teachers or a warmer community. My kids started there in 2018 and I wish their school went to even higher grades. We took our older son to a number of Day Cares in the Burbank area. And tended to have an issue or two with each of them. Finally, with our younger son, we reached BTEE! WHICH IS AMAZING! Everything that a parent looks for in a preschool is here- The Incredible director, the loving teachers, the diverse community, strong PTA, and phenomenal curriculum! I can go on and on about this school and how amazing it is, and how much it has done for my children, and how I met some of my best friends through the PTA! Our daughter is in her second year of BTEE and we could not be happier with our decision to attend this school. All of the teachers have been exceptional. I feel my daughter has grown leaps and bounds emotionally. They really work with the kids in areas that kids this age need work, social awareness, problem solving, and empathy. When they aren't doing art projects, they're playing outside, or dancing, or singing in music class. The school also offers great enrichment programs. My daughter has only participated in the once a week language class, but it's been so inspiring that now we are looking into language immersion for Kindergarten, though I wish she could stay in the safe warm BTEE bubble forever. Oh, and the parents and administrators have all been wonderful too. We have made friendships with families that will likely last a very long time. read more

I brought my son to this school after he had been attending a big, flashy school. I couldn't be happier. It is everything the other school was not- warm, inviting, nurturing- everyone knows everyone here and you get a real sense of community. There's no flash or pretense. My son attended BTEE for two years and my daughter just started this year. It's a very warm and nurturing place with tons of community involvement and family activities. Our family is not Jewish but I love that our children learn about different cultures and traditions (and Hebrew!). The playground space is beautiful with big trees and a beautiful new garden. The extra-curricular activities are also fantastic - everything from karate to sports to dance to language. Both my children love it as much as I do and we've found a real community of families that I know we'll know for years to come. If you are looking for an academic pre-school with homework and worksheets, this is not it, but for those that don't believe that pre-schoolers need that sort of instruction at this age and should be allowed to dance and sing and play and color and be kids, it's a wonderful choice. read more

I love this school. My almost-4-yr-old started last fall and has had the best experience. It's a play-based school, which was very important to us, but also has structure so that kids learn to work collaboratively and follow direction. There are also play-centered academics that get more focused in the pre-K class. The teachers and staff are amazing - warm and effective, very involved. Great enrichment classes like yoga, dance & music, as well as extracurricular activities like soccer, karate and hip hop dance. The school itself is great, with a lovely shaded playground and garden that the kids help tend. You don't have to be Jewish to have your kid attend. All are welcome. Great Teachers and Facility!!! Our son, as well as ourselves love this school and it's teachers! The teachers watch and care for our son as if he was their own. Being first time parents, I have not had one day of regret to leave him because I know he'll get the same love and attention as I would give him here at home. We also love that our two year old has learned to be a good person there. He's also made lots of improvements in his social skills, speech, and in problem solving. Which were some concern of ours and his doctors. The facility is super clean and friendly. Their play-yard is almost totally shaded, which is really nice to have during this summer. My daughter goes here and loves it, the teachers and Facility are great and she always come home happy with a smile on her face. There are lots of great learning going on here with friendly kids and parents that will keep us together day in and day out. So far she has already taken a Karate Class, and a Soccer class and she loves it. My husband and I love the BTEE ECC preschool! This preschool has been simply wonderful for our son. He is in his second year in attendance currently and has grown so much at the school since he started attending last year. The teachers are amazing and have been so good for the development of my son. They've also been great at helping potty train as well, which we have been very happy and impressed with. My son started at Btee when he was 3 years old.He is an only child and it was important for me to have him interact with other children. He loves it there. He even looks forward to go to school after the weekend. The teachers and wonderful and the pre school director is amazing. She truly cares about the pre school with all the fun fundraisers and activities she brings to the pre school. The teachers are doing a great job with my son. He is more than ready for kindergarten.They have great enrichment programs such as karate, dance, and yoga. They also have yummy gourmet healthy lunch program. our daughter has been attending since last June and we couldn't be happier. She was previously enrolled at another school in burbank where she had also attended their daycare. The daycare was great but for some reason she was not as happy when she transitioned to their preschool. So some friends suggested we check out BTEE and we fell in love, the director is very involved and the environment is warm and loving. Then when we officially moved our daughter to BTEE it was remarkable to see the difference in her, almost overnight. She is excited to go to school each day and on weekends she asks when she can go back. Each day when I pick her up she talks a mile a minute about everything she did, who she played with, what she ate, etc, etc.. And it goes on all night!!!!! This little preschool provided warmth and acceptance for my daughter, 15 years ago, and has grown to be an excellent updated version of that. The new director, Leeron Dvir, is the best I have seen. I work in the field of Child Development and Therapy and know how very talented she is by the quality of teachers she has working under her. The children and their parents benefit from her well planned enrichment programs and the delightful, fun activities she has for the kids, everyday. Our child has been going here for more than 2 years and she loves it, and we love it. Learning is fun and there's a lot of learning through play, as well as structured activities for the pre-K kids, It's non-denominational, and the school director is willing to work with families and their schedules. Optional activities like dance and karate classes are so fun for my daughter, and I don't have to drive her all over town to take these so it's better for me, too. We started out in the toddler transition class they offer and then we were hooked! My son attended BTEE for 3 years and we loved it. BTEE is such a warm and nurturing environment with such a great sense of community. It is a play based school, but with just the right amount of structure so that the children really learn how to listen and follow directions. They offer great enrichment classes during the school day and many extracurricular activities as well. It is a Jewish preschool (we are not a Jewish family) but they make all families feel welcome. My daughter who is 2 1/2 started at BTEE this past summer and now is enrolled in the preschool full time this year. We absolutely love the school and she loves the school. It is her home away from home. I 100 percent agree with what everyone says in their previous posts. The environment is warm and inviting and the teachers are welcoming and kind. There is a wonderful sense of community and diversity. The food program is amazing and almost gourmet. My daughter eats better food then I do!! The director is highly involved and accommodating. When I drop my daughter off she gets so excited and when we pick her up she does not want to leave. She has made a lot of new friends. I don't think we could have picked a better place for our daughter to attend. I feel so comfortable and at ease that she is in a loving, warm and happy environment while we are at work.
