This is a delayed review as I kept trying to contact ADVENT. I contacted the president of Westminster Speed and Sound. I inquired about Advent headrest monitors. He sent me an email about how it would be installed. When the install was complete I retrieved my car to discover that all of the item from my center console were on my front passenger seat. As I drove home, my dash cam that was working perfectly before the install was shutting on and off. Lastly, the monitors did NOT have the HDMI inputs as advertised by Advent for the size monitors I purchased, but they did have an external HDMI as indicated prior to the install. I thought there would be two, but I have to go by what I was told. I had to return to have the installer find another power source for the monitors other than the same source as the dash cam. I told the president about the HDMI discrepancy, and attached the video from Advent showing that the HDMI inputs are supposed to come on the monitors. He wrote, "I don't have a good explanation for it. I passed the info on to my rep, who works for a private rep firm representing Advent/Voxx. He doesn't actually work for Voxx. I asked him today if there was someone you could talk with about it. He did provide a customer service number which is 800-371-7725." I received no other assistance, and still have not been able to contact Advent/Voxx (why should I be doing this?). Outside of these issues, the monitors turned out great but they did not get the HDMI problem resolved. read more

Westminster Speed and Sound Took three of my cars in for service. Two for remote starters and the other was for window tint. I was super excited to get starters for the cars. All three vehicles took most of the day to complete. Had the cars back for about two weeks. Took one car in for maintenance. I went to drive another car and discovered the battery died. I was going to use the third vehicle to jump start it. When I went to jump the car with this vehicle I was surprised to discover the pull handle for the hood release was broken and the handle was missing. I also noticed the fuse box cover missing. I immediately called Westminster speed and sound to ask why I was not informed that it was broken. I was more upset that I was not notified. I had spoken to them multiple times while they had my cars to talk about the window tint shade, as well as when a car was completed. At anytime they could have mentioned the broken hood release. I was told he would call me back. When they called back, he identified himself as the father of the first person I spoke with. Then proceeded to say my car was 20years old (ok? , it wasn't an issue when they put the system in) and that it was a known faulty item of the vehicle... He said they thought I knew. Well surprise. I did not. As far as I knew the hood release was fine when I brought the car in. He continually talked over me and tell me his assistant manager did the job ( so he should of known better to stop the job, call the customer to let them know?). He also said "but he's an honest guy" (so I am not an honest person?) needless to say it was a pretty upsetting. read more

Called to see if they had a Rockford Fosgate system for a Harley TriGlide; they have two. Because of supply & demand issues, they're trying to make a dollar out of a dime from other people. They won't sell me the kit unless they themselves install it for $500+. For anyone that wants, I've installed the system on a 2019 SGS, was going to purchase this kit and install it for my dad who rode out from AZ and would have loved to have some rockin' tunes for his ride back to AZ. We called many places, and it seems this is one of a few places that have them in stock. If you want, I'll be happy to help anyone install the kit for free, show you how to do it simply because these guys have shady business practices attempting to make easy money off hard working people. The only thing you'll need to do is have Harley flash your radio prior to the install. They just lost a sale and a customer. As for the 95% of people who don't have the know-how or skills to install it, that's why they're the 95%. The same people that are taken advantage because of their lack of knowledge. Now, I'm not saying your company shouldn't make a profit or survive. What I am saying is I'd like to purchase one of the two products you have without you installing it. You would of happily sold it to me if there wasn't a supply/demand issue, so what changed from then until now? Sales gone down? Attempting to pad the books because of it? Did you get your federally funded small business bailout and it didn't support your business like you expected?? I will absolutely find what I'm looking for, even if we have to wait. All the best!! A boys toy store! WSS has all your auto AV needs and then some. About a year and a half ago I bought a Sony stereo system for my Crown Vic. A nice unit. With Bluetooth. Late last year my daughter was carjacked at gunpoint by two blight rail riders not far from home. Thankfully she wasn't hurt and the car sustained very minor damage. The thieves ripped out the Bluetooth mic from the headliner. WSS replaced the item for me and the job only took a half hour. Just recently the Sony went into retail demo mode and all settings were lost. I contacted WSS and they were aware (as was Sony) of the issue. I drove out from the towson area to Westminster, and armed with a flash drive, the system was restored "just like that." Sony has saved WSS and consumers tons of grief by being accountable and identifying and providing a solution instead of issuing a recall and reselling the units as refurbished. Bottom line: I really like WSS. They're on top of their game and the drive is worth it. Go ahead. Indulge yourself. read more

I think this particular rating, "Meh. I've experienced better," perfectly sums up my experience with this business because I did...immediately after my conversations with this business ceased. I contacted them because I had been pricing out a car audio upgrade I wanted and I thought they had a pretty well-designed website. I wanted to determine if they had any issues with product coming from other stores, initially Crutchfield. My only experience before this was Best Buy and they never seemed to mind because I think they are very well aware that their stock isn't particularly high-end or even middle of the road for that matter. In any event, I spoke to an individual named Pat via phone and email and at least initially, I was impressed by his customer service skills and follow-up. However, I could tell that he was specifically trying to steer me towards product they sold regardless of how well that fit my needs. I guess that would have been okay if he hadn't told me that they do not do sales or discount much from MSRP. After contacting another shop that caught my attention to get a quote, I learned that this second shop (DSI Mobile Electronics) was shutting down and selling their inventory at cost. Because I had no interest in spending more than I had to, I jumped on the opportunity, especially because this shop was a licensed retailer of the items they were selling. Upon notifying Pat of my acquisition, he informed me that his shop was no longer interested in providing a quote. I took that as a pretty large red flag, contacted the shop that DSI referred me to and now have a fantastic system with a very discrete install. Capitalism at work, I suppose. The only conclusion that I can come up with is that they must do so much business that its customers are only seen as transactions and if that is their business model, then fine. But at the end of the day, I have to look out for my own financial interests and that is what leads me to say, "Meh. I've experienced better." read more

I stumbled across Westminster Speed and Sound when looking for a serious sound upgrade for my Ford Raptor and I found their blog post of work on a previous vehicle that was a great fit. I contacted the store via email after office hours and received a very prompt reply and scheduled initial project discussion. Mark took the time to personally get to know my vehicle and my requirements before customizing a package tailored to fit my objectives. Mark is extremely knowledgeable and loves his craft - the discussion was a lot of fun and at no point 'sales-y'. Based off that and a couple of smaller subsequent discussions I scheduled the project with Westminster Speed and Sound. I felt comfortable with my decision even though there are plenty of shops around my area (DC) and that this would mean quite the hike (100 mile round trip x2) in order to drop off and pick up. The shops around here just don't give you anything close to the quality of service and attention to detail that I wanted. I picked up the vehicle after 2 days of work on-time, on-budget, and with personal attention from Mark all the way through the process. I am delighted with the quality of the system that the team have put in, and was walked through it from top to bottom before driving off the site. The good thing about the long drive home through traffic was that I got adequate time to put the system through its' paces. And blimey does it rip. I don't usually write reviews, but when I do I reserve them for when they are most deserved and I feel like Westminster Speed and Sound delivered on all aspects. Wanted to thank the sales associates who helped me last night about closing time. I came after my car had a temper tantrum and locked up on me. After getting a jump start and having it evaluated at an auto parts store they sent me to Westminster speed and sound for help with my after market remote starter fab. Which is also my keyless ignition fab. After making me feel at ease that a new battery should not effect my after market starter, they showed me how to replace the battery. They didn't stock those batteries so they wrote down the number and told me where i could find one. They also took the time to show me how to start my car w/o a battery in my fab. Love these guys! Took my 2012 Tundra in for several upgrades over the last two years. Added the back up camera and Pioneer radio with large screen, GPS, bluetooth, steering wheel remote controls, back up sensors, ceramic tint, and remote starter with automatic heater on. Even had my lady friend's CRV upgraded with the remote starter, and she loves it too. Everything is professionally done, guaranteed, and these are good local guys. Anything else i get done, like maybe leveling kit and front collision sensors or subwoofer and radar detector, will be done by these guys. The service was great they sat in car and explained how to use it and set up my daughters phone to connect to blue tooth. After carefully listening to my concerns about my car's inadequate stock stereo, they recommended a system that was within my budget and far exceeded my expectations. They coupled a new head unit with German Maestro component speakers, an Arc Audio amplifier and a SIRIUS tuner that I already had from a previous install. They were able to integrate everything perfectly, and the results are simply phenomenal. I had my system done a few years ago and just had my daughters car set up with a new stereo, speakers, amp and sub. It sounds amazing! Both times I have worked directly with Luke. He knows his stuff (and he is able to take information that is so technical and out of the average persons comprehension and break it down so you, as the customer, can understand it). I cannot say enough for his patience with me and his ability to pair the perfect equipment together not only to fit budget but individual needs. For instance my daughters system fits her needs as an 18 year old (it is loud as all hell) and my system sounds spot on, crisp and open.....but if I want bass I can rock that ass well.
