They communicated clearly the issues discovered and did not overcharge. I really, really like the mechanic and his wife! They are really nice. I give 5 stars to their personalities! They also send really nice coupons ranging from $10-50 off repairs. The quality of their work is definitely a 4 or a 5 as well. However, the prices are high--much higher than can be made up for with a coupon. For instance, I was quoted a timing belt change at almost twice the price of the dealership (around $1200 at Schnauble where the dealership quoted me $699). Also, I find that like many other repair shops they take advantage of my relative inexperience and yes, ignorance regarding mechanics, and pushed unnecessary repairs on me at a time where I was vulnerable and broke. I wanted a mechanic that understood a blue collar paycheck like my old mechanic back home (who never did anything but fix what was necessary) but they aren't quite it. I know they have to make a competitive living too but I can't afford the extra cost. read more

There are still good and kind people out there. We had the car completely packed and all of us ready for our trip. We stopped to fill up with gas and check the tires and we had a screw in the rear tire that was leaking air. Called 7 or 8 places to try to get the tire repaired quickly to get on the road. No one could get us in sooner than an hour and a half. Schnauble was the last on the list and when I explained our emergency, Kaylee said come on over and we will take a look. They fixed the tire right away and we were on the road within about 45 minutes. I highly recommend this place. They are good and kind and they know what they are doing. We found Schnauble Automotive on Yelp, and were able to use the $75 for $50 coupon, applied to an oil change and wheel alignment check our 2004 Prius. This is a completely professional shop with a clean, quiet and comfortable waiting area. They are well experienced with hybrids, a relief in an area where many mechanics are afraid to work on them. They test drove the car and checked tires to make sure alignment was needed; something most shops wouldn't do. It turned out that tire rotatation solved the problem, saving us at least $100. These folks are highly ethical, knowledgeable and honest. Great value in knowing the work is done right. I recommend them highly. Only issue was difficulty finding them -- some signage on E. Green would help, as the shop entrance faces South St. read more

My family and I have been using Schauble's for as long as I can remember. They are always friendly and honest about what repairs your car really needs. Most repair shops will find anything wrong with a vehicle just to charge you more money-and this is not one of those places. The prices are a bit higher than most places, but they really check every aspect of your car. Really I would give them 4.5 stars because no one is perfect but Yelp won't let you do that so I rounded up, which they deserve. We have been using Schnauble for years on a friend's recommendation. They could not be more honest or helpful. They worked with us to nurse along our Honda with almost 300K miles on it and they took such good care of it we still got a bunch of money when we traded it in. read more

As a customer with roughly 20 years' experience with Schnauble Automotive, I feel compelled to respond to CX's review posted in July 2012. I certainly can identify and sympathize with being on a shoestring budget and perhaps this shop's prices are a little higher than others ... but, as the old adage goes, you get what you pay for ... and what you get at this shop is expert work done correctly the first time, no running back repeatedly over the same issue. By the time other mechanics nickel and dime you with repeated trips to resolve the same issue, you've probably spent as much as you would have if you had taken your vehicle to this shop to begin with ... and saved yourself the aggravation, to boot. I can't speak about whichever dealership CX referred to but I can tell you neither my husband nor I has ever been satisfied with any dealership mechanics we've tried ... in fact, we think dealership mechanics are the absolute pits. Also, CX seemed to suggest this shop performs unnecessary work that runs up your bill. I couldn't disagree more. There have been times when I've inquired whether or not I should have this, that or the other done to my car and Lewis, the owner, has told me no, that's not needed at this time. This is one place that definitely doesn't run up your bill unnecessarily or take advantage of your lack of knowledge regarding vehicles. No one knows less about vehicles than my husband and I and we've never felt ripped off for it at this shop. My mother had used Schnauble Automotive when she was living and it was on her recommendation that my husband and I switched to them. My husband feels just as positively about this shop as I do.
