Luckily for you, I visited this place so you wouldn't have to! I cringe at this place. Sticky tables and floors, dirty menus, dusty dishes and ceilings. Tiny bathrooms- can't get in and out without touching something. Our waitress was a few weeks in and tried her best. The fountain drinks were absolutely disgusting and needed to be recalibrated. I settled with the only bottled soft drink available to be safe, a root beer with 79 grams of sugar! The Bakers Special pizza was a greasy and sloppy mess and instantly fell apart just by looking at it. It had mondo chunks of meat that didn't pair well with the sauce. My husband recommended this place from his visit a few years ago but it clearly went downhill. It's an old dilapidated mess. Cushion chairs were 20+ years old with sticky stains and butt intentions on them. It was giving biker bar and made me very uncomfortable. I was afraid I'd get sick just being in the environment. The patrons were old, obnoxious perverts. Someone even brought their dog in there (not a service dog). I couldn't overlook it's condition and the food wasn't any better. Awful. Absolutely, awful. From great heights have they fallen. Years ago, Nick's was fun, drinks cold, and pizza was great. Many great times with old friends have been had there. They had some off nights too, like the time I went in at around 11 pm and a very salty, old waitress (she was a hag) said, "f--- this! I'm not serving anyone!" She started putting chairs on top of tables. That was long ago. Today, the place is dirty and dusty. Little gnats fly around trying to get into your drink. Pizza is either undercooked or too charred. On this occasion, undercooked and just gross. Expensive too. The last few times I've been, it was burnt. Maybe there's something wrong with their oven. Rough crowd too. This feels like a place that either you just know or you stumble upon it. It's not on westheimer, but a side street. It for sure give a dive bar feel, probably a great place to go watch a game. We've been going to Nick's Place since the early 90's when they had tube TV's on wall shelves - now several flat screens inside and out. It's a neighborhood sports bar with really, really good food and friendly service.. The spaghetti/meatballs are my fav, and the calzones are the talk of the town. Separate checks are never an issue. Nick's Place kind of reminds me of "Cheers"- where everybody knows your name. We usually plan our lunches late afternoon so that after dining, we can move to the large outdoor patio for an ice cold beer (or two). The karaoke nights are a lot of fun- and some evenings they have "Singo Bingo" featuring 70's and 80's classics. Always a good time. read more

Nick's Place is a solid divey sports bar. If you like sports, they got you! There are TVs EVERYWHERE, they have a sports ticker, and I think they have every sports channel ever. We were there on NFL Sunday and they had every game up and were able to show some Premier League soccer. Nick and his team are nice and provide great service. The food is good and the drinks are priced well. They have daily specials for both. I would say food is about $6-$15 per order and the drinks range about that much as well depending on what you get. Came here for a lil reunion. It's my friend's cousin's bar. You can park in their lot or on the street out front. The parking lot was packed when i went, but this was a Sunday and the football games were on. There are alot of tv screens so you can watch at any angle wherever you sit. Or server was very helpful and friendly. I ordered the Philly cheese steak, it was juicy and flavorful. My friend ordered the calzone and he looked like he barely touched the thing because it's huge. Atmosphere was great for watching sports. Price was fair. We also ordered the spicy pickles which were fantastic. The breading was full and crunchy and didn't fall apart. This used to be my go-to watering hole before I moved. I visited last night for the first time in a couple years. I consider it a "dive bar" with no disrespect (I happen to like dive bars). It is a very unassuming place with a large inside and nice outdoor dog friendly patio (at least it used to be, so check before going). The best thing about Nick's is the food! In the years I've been away, it is still consistent and delicious! The pizzas are phenomenal. I don't know what they do to that crust, but oh my! It is so good! Their menu is quite extensive, so you won't run out of things to try. Parking is very convenient. You can literally park steps away. Nick's has an onsite ATM. Security was present last night when I arrived. That's always a plus. A lot of people have come through those Nick's doors. I have made some good friends from my ventures over the years. Perfect spot to grab a stiff drink, $1 pool is always a hit, and the weekly deals are always worth checking. Nick's also has the best bar/pub food around hands down. I stop in just for food some days, so after a few drinks it's worth a few michelin stars in my opinion. Personally recommend the mac as it's my go to, but the pizza and app sampler hits just as good. It kills me to not leave a 5 star review. The staff here is amazing. The pizza is amazing. But you cannot be a dive/sports bar with wings of this caliber. Worst wings I've ever had (because I don't even count Brewingz as wings). The crazy part is this. The cold barley salad is insane, I *dream* about this salad, and this is the 3rd best place for pizza in the entire Houston metro. I've tried over 100 pizzas in Houston so being top 3 is something to be proud of. The bartenders are amazing, this place feels homey, and it's a very welcoming environment, but the owner and/or chef needs to either get proper (non freezer burnt chicken) off the menu, or find some decent chicken. I have visited this neighborhood bar/restaurant 3 times in the past couple of months and realized I hadn't written a review. On all 3 visits, I ate dinner here and had the spaghetti with meat sauce ($9), lasagna ($13) and a custom made 3 topping pizza. All 3 were very good in taste and the pasta dishes came with either a salad or soup. I chose the salad both times. Both pasta dishes were large in size and represented good value for their price. The pizzas while good in taste are more expensive than I would have thought. My lasagna meal was not fully hot in the center which seems to happen to me a lot. Also when ordering pizzas their onions are purple onions. If you want white you have to ask for them. My first visit had table service provided by a bartender and the service suffered. My last two visits had table service provided by a waitress and was much better and very attentive. This place has above average food in my opinion centered around Italian but also offers burgers, steaks, etc. It has a nice outdoor patio area with plenty of TV's inside and out. I graded it at a 3.5 but will round up for Yelp purposes. read more

Typically this smokey hole in the wall sports bar Italian joint is a fun place yo hang out and eat some cannoli with friends. Occasionally I take my 13 year old daughter with me to catch a Longhorn game and lunch. This place should get 5 stars consistently. However, this evening some pizza tosser ruined our trip. With voice level 10 he kept dropping f bombs. F this. F that. I'm gonna smash this f in pan in your face if you don't f in back up. He yelled at a dish washer. This local favorite usually would not need a write up. Most times I could just tell Nick in person. I wrote this so that maybe Nick would read it and know who I am talking about it and take care of it. In spite of the d bag pizza tosser, Nick's is still a fun dive for hanging out.
