They quoted me $1,050 for a job that cost me $340 and a Sunday afternoon to do on my own (auto repair services make deals with parts stores like Autozone so they get parts for about half of what anyone else would pay. So, that job would cost them even less than $300). They take advantage of their customers by completing simple 10 min tasks, which they can charge you $200 for. Then they won't tell you they're gonna charge you until you're there to pick up the car. I had a bad water pump and some other minor issues. They quoted me way too much, and as a college student I can barely pay for it in the first place. So, I get some tools and tell them I have to do it myself because it cost too much. When I came to pick up my car, the older technician said he pressure tested my coolant system then filled it up with coolant. 1. he found the pressure was zero, and still filled it up with coolant, so he knew anything he filled up would just pour out onto the ground. 2. He charged me $200 for the completely useless task which took him 10 minutes to complete. They never told me they were gonna do any of that. When I came to pick up my car, he acted like a dick, I assume because I wasn't gonna pay over a grand for such an easy job. Dave is the best!!! You can't find honest legit mechanics like him very often! He took his time going over my car with a fine tooth comb to check out all my concerns. It was like he was working on his own personal vehicle. He was honest and very knowledgable on the repairs that my car needed. I never felt at anytime that he was pushing any unnecessary repairs on me like most shops do. This is hands down the most positive car repair experience I have had and trust me being a girl needing car repairs over the years I usually get hosed and find out too late! My Lincoln wouldn't start and my close by mechanic said he thought the timing chain had hoped the sprocket. That meant with this engine it was ruined. He suggested to take it to Dave at Westside. I towed it down and replacing the engine would cost $3K plus. I went home and cried in my beer, even though i don't drink. A couple of hours later, Dave called to tell me that it was just my battery not having enough amperage to start. He could have waited a week, steam cleaned the engine and charged me for a new one. This is the only mechanic I'll ever take any of my vehicles to. They're honest and extremely fair. They may have some news that I don't want to hear once in awhile, but I'd rather get that fixed then wait till further down the road when it cost me an arm and a leg. I know when I bring my vehicle in and tell them what's wrong if they give me a quote, I know that's exactly what I'll be paying. If they have to do other repairs that cost more they will call me first. I find honesty to be the most important aspect at any auto repair shop right after the ability to actually fix vehicles and this place excels in both those areas. These guys are awesome! Not only did they beat everyone's price, they also were very fast. I have a 2009 Honda Accord and just had them replace my CV joints, full break replacement, and they did my safety and emissions at the same time. If you are looking for an honest Auto Shop, this is your place. I took my car in for a repair here and the estimate was about $500. This was less than another estimate I had, so I had them do the work. When it was time to pay, the Man helping me said "Oh, it looks like it cost less than we thought". The total was only about 420! It's a small shop out on Geneva road. It can be easy to miss, and when you find it, sometimes it hard to find a place to park. Those are the only negative things I can say.
