This was my very first experience with Richins Car Service. My brother and dad referred me to them and I am super impressed with their honesty, pricing, and friendly staff. I took my 4Runner in to have the AC diagnosed since it has been blowing warm on the driver's side. Kent told me that no leaks were detected (despite another ship telling me something different) topped off my refrigerant, and told me to bring it back if I encounter any more issues. Kent also mentioned that DIY, auto part store bought refrigerant can often introduce air into the system, which I didn't know. So far, everything has been great. My AC is ice cold and I am thrilled considering we've had temps that are nearing 100° every day. I had a great experience with the Kent and the technicians at Richins. I was with my previous mechanic for ten years. The change in ownership in recent years made me feel frustrated and disappointed. Part of me wanted to stay with a mechanic that "knows my car." But I decided I would look for a new mechanic near my work and found Richins. I saw their stellar reviews and figured it would be worth a try. They did not disappoint! I'm not kidding you when I say I want to CRY from happiness for what they did for my car. Last Wednesday June 23, I took it in for a general lookover. They did their spring special on it and made some recommendations. They induced ZERO panic and put on ZERO pressure, which is worth noting for the female car owners. They explained to me why my car was so shaky - I needed to have the motor mounts replaced. I took it in for the motor mount repairs today and OH MY LANTA. My car has been SO loud and SO shaky for SO long, getting in my car just 15 minutes ago after they fixed it was like driving a new car. I've taken really good care of my car the last 12 years, so to have it look/sound/act like it is so rewarding and exciting. It was only $25, and I wasn't angry, but the attitude I got over the phone when I called about it was completely unprofessional. Just picked up my car a few minutes ago. I came into the shop this morning right when they opened to see if there was any way they could fit me in today. Last night we started hearing some pretty bad grinding and knew we had to get it fixed today before our road trip tomorrow. Plus, my wife needed the car at 10am for an appointment. They said they would do their best and at least let me know what was going on before 10am. I received a call at 9am saying they needed to replace the rotors and the brake pads, and that they were going to try and get it all done before 10am. At 9:54, they called me again and told me it was done. Couldn't have been happier with the level of service, the speed, the quality, and the price. And to top it all off, they made another small repair free of charge while they were working on the car. It can be difficult to find mechanics that you trust and that you can depend on when it really counts. Richins has become that mechanic for our family. At 1st they do a couple things for the Reasonable price then they start jacking up the price. Quoted My wife $546 to replace the expansion tank in her car that took 2 bolts and two hose clamps to remove it. They had recently replaced the fans and before they worked on the car there were no problems with the expansion tank. Next thing you know it's broke. They also wanted to replace the hoses all from the heater core the tank and the motor odor when all those hoses were fine. read more

Just had my Ford F 150 repaired at Richins Auto Service. My truck would not start, put a new battery, a new starter in and still no start. I was completely out of ideas and had it towed to Richins and it was repaired that day. They could have told me just about anything and I would have had basically no choice but to believe them. But what they told me was THE TRUTH! It was a corroded connector and was a cheap and easy fix. Great to work with, great service, but most of all honest. Highly recommended! I literally downloaded Yelp for the purpose of leaving a review for Richins. I have never experienced service this excellent! I had never been to Richins before and walked in unannounced with only a vague idea of what was wrong with my car (it failed the emissions test but the place that performed it didn't know how to tell me why). Steve, the owner, took care of me from the minute I walked in the door. He took the time to diagnose the problem properly to avoid unnecessary costs to me, ordered the parts, and was ready to do the repairs first thing the next morning. As the repair was an all-day job, Steve personally made sure that I got home AND back to the shop safely. Although I dealt mainly with Steve, it was clear that the rest of his staff was also friendly, fast-paced, and efficient. You could tell it was the kind of place where the employees love their jobs and take them very seriously. I was a first time customer, but I will never go anywhere else! After an exhaustive Yelp search, Richins replaced our defunct transmission with a remanufactured one. They provided a fully-disclosed upfront bid, which they stuck to, for the most part. There were a couple of surprises along the way, but all in all they seemed to be quite straightforward about it. The owner, Steve, was always there during the 3+ times we visited, and took the time to explain the process to us, as well as show us our old transmission, etc. As promised, he kept in touch with information along the way, even though there was a time or two we had to call him for an update after not hearing from him. Not a big deal - it was obvious he had a lot of business. Bottom line here is, would we return to Richins for any future transmission needs? Yes. They treated us well, did the job they said they would do, and were relatively honest and fair about it. read more

Discovered a broken shock hanging off my back tire this morning, and chose Richin's because they're open at 7am, close to home, and were more than helpful on the phone when I described my issue. When I arrived, they were friendly, fast, and efficient. They went over pricing, estimated time, and other services I might need. They under promised and over delivered on every point - $100 cheaper than originally quoted and only took 45 minutes to repair. The shop is clean, they are very professional, and took care of exactly what I needed. No up selling or patronizing BS. I took my son's car there. It had a broken power window winder and the AC was not working. They fixed the window no problem. The AC I was expecting a large bill for the compressor etc but they diagnosed a leaking valve. They fixed the problems for way under the price I was expecting to pay. It seems like a lot of mechanics just plug it into the computer and if it doesn't tell them what's wrong, they don't know. We paid them for a lot of work on our car. We asked them to check out several mechanical items that were broken and give us an estimate of what it would take to fix them. We fixed all but one. We were surprised by a charge of more than $40 to give us a quote of $250 to fix something that was no more than a minor annoyance. They did not say ahead of time that they would be charging us to give us an estimate. I've never had that happen at another repair place, and we won't be back. read more

Our car was stranded, we were from out of town and needed help. We found this place close to where our car was located. Initially things were great, they got the car going enough for us to avoid a tow charge, etc.... they repaired the initial problem and then things went bad after that. They 'convinced' us to do some additional work which had the effect of introducing another problem that hadn't been there before. Days later we had to go back. They charged us more to 'fix' the problem they had introduced. Days later we went back yet again and they were defensive and reluctantly did some more work to 'fix' the problem they had introduced. This time they at least didn't charge us a third time. However, after arriving home the problem is still there and that's it... strike three. I cannot recommend this place and will obviously never be going there again.... read more

Richins charged me 35 bucks to check for a code on an engine service light. Took them all of 5 minutes maybe. They didn't know what the code meant but wanted to pull the distributor for a minimum of 80 dollars more to see if maybe that could be the cause. Nothing to do with a fix. To get a second opinion I went to ORiely auto parts. They checked it for free and sold me a gas cap for 5 bucks that fixed the problem. Richins?? Extremely poor, and Very expensive, trouble shooting skills. I will never recommend them to anyone. read more

Horrible service. Took car there for the first time. I asked them to check several things (leaking from somewhere possibly coolant or oil) on the car as well as swap out parts. I had them swap out a radiator and look for leaks, check my a/c. They either ignored my original concerns all together or didn't bother paying attention. All they did was install the radiator I supplied and didn't bother looking for any leaks (even though they charged $39.95 for a pressure text and didn't tell me if they found anything because the "tech went home for the day") or see if my a/c was fixed (it wasn't). They recommended to swap out radiator hoses and thermostat, and charged me full labor ($218.50) even though they were already accessing those locations due to the radiator swap ($267). To top it all off, I receive a call at the end of the day that my car was done, but if I wanted to pick it up then, I had to pay an additional "phone credit charge" in order to pick it up that day because they were closing and wanted to leave. When I picked up my car, my passenger headlight was out, and my check engine light was on, and leaks still there. I've worked at several service departments, and a simple check in/check out procedure would have alerted them and I should have been notified. I had no problems leaving my car as long as they needed it. Horrible service, do not recommend. read more

I have been here for a few repairs, always fast, friendly at a fair price. My GMC Acadia had an AC line that was rubbed by some other line, I think the power steering. It is a known design flaw (I read dozens of posts about it) LHM Chevrolet wanted close to $3K to fix it, but Richins repaired it for under $1,000. read more

Called them on Tuesday to get a quote on timing chain replacement. Told me to come in Thursday morning at 7 so they can take a look. I got up early to be at their garage at 7, then was told that their mechanic won't be there at 7:30am, and there's also a diagnostic of $47.99. If they had told me about the diagnostic fee, I wouldn't have got up so super early to visit them. Also if you tell me to be there at 7am, better have someone ready to look at my car by 7am. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP. I did my head gasket job with Richins. 8 months later and my car started overheating. Flushed the radiator, changed the thermostat and still it was over heating. So I figured the water pump they put in must have been faulty. When I took off the old one there was NO gasket attached to it. Just some sealant, and most of that was on the inside of the water pump..... This was the first sign of trouble. The second was when the new water pump still didn't fix my over heating problem. The only thing it could be causing it was the head gaskets. So I tore the whole thing apart again, and when trying to get the heads off I had to use a breaker bar to get the bolts out. Those bolts are supposed to be torqued down to a specific torque rating in a specific pattern and had clearly not been. Then when I call them up and tell them about the issue they tell me that I'm on my own and that I can't prove that they did the job wrong. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP. I should have just done the work initially myself, but I had time constraints. read more
