They denied me restorative care on a root canal they did wrong, that caused me a severe absess. They denied my insurance, when my insurance company stated to me that they were clients in their network. I said I was going to file a malpractice claim. They said ok. I've been coming to this office for 2 root canals. Since last year though, I think the admin/ownership has changed and it is not what it once was. The office put the wrong date through for my insurance billing, so somehow my implant was delayed almost a year. My dentist and I both would call the front desk to figure out but nothing seemed to be resolved until I finally came in person one day to ask them to fix my insurance situation. I finally got the implant after a long year but then one of the molars on the opposite side of my mouth (left side) started showing cracks due to all the pressure I had put on my teeth in order to make up for the right side missing implant tooth. I liked the visiting oral surgeon that performs the root canals/extractions. However the admin and office seems to not be organized and when I tried to opt out of the optional upcharge scans/services they would pressure me to do it. Since back then it was my first time I said ok since they know best, but looks like at my new endo they let me opt out of scans that were only optional. I just feel like though they do good endo work, the quality of care in billing and insurance situations can be improved. read more

I scheduled a root canal with this office for 5/8/2025. The day before the procedure on 5/7 I was called by them, an informed that the $350 Cone Beam CT scan was approved to be covered at 50% off. I was very happy to hear this and paid for my 1/2 at the time of the procedure. On 5/20 I received an invoice from Westside Endo that the CT scan was being denied by my insurance Anthem Blue Cross. I called Anthem a few times with no result and will be filing an appeal for the denial. I stopped by Westside Endo today to get prove that that they were approved for the CT scan. They denied that they received verbal confirmation even though they told me on 5/7 that they did, and would not provide anything in writing. They said it was all done on Anthem's portal and that they could'nt provide anything to help my appeal. When I got home I called the dentist office and asked for a print out of the approval from the portal. The person who answered said she would call me back which she did, now claiming that they in-fact received a verbal conformation but didn't have a reference # or anything in writing. It seems that Weside Endo is being less then honest about their interaction with the insurance company and incompetent about my coverage. The insurance company told me that they only cover cone beam CT scans when an implant is being done. The dentist and procedure was great and they were able to save a crown on my tooth. I feel I shouldn't be further billed for their mistakes with the insurance company. read more

I took my 96 year old mother here on July 6 for a root canal consult. It is really hard for her to travel anywhere as her mobility is extremely limited. Initial consult with Dr. Castellanos was fine. She recommended proceeding with scheduling the root canal. I called back to do this. I asked specifically if the procedure needed to be with the same doctor. They told me no and we scheduled with Dr. Imani as the doctor who did the consult is only there one day a week. We showed up for the appointment this morning, July 18, and Dr Imani came to the waiting area and informed us that he JUST reviewed her file and that he couldn't/wouldn't do the procedure. He told us to see the dentist who did the consult to attempt the root canal or see an oral surgeon to pull the tooth. Needless to say this was extremely frustrating. Had Dr. Imani bothered to look at the x-ray and case notes prior to minutes before us showing up for the appointment (scheduled almost two weeks previously) perhaps he would have had the decency to call us to tell us that he couldn't/wouldn't do the procedure and save us the trip. Is it weird to say, "The best place to get a root canal in all of our Metropolis of Angels"? I was referred to my current and only endodontist by my dental insurance, and the staff was very well-trained to help anyone and everyone mortified of dental surgery accomplish the dental care all of us need to be healthy and whole humans. I went in for my appointment there with a broken right fibula, and the staff was so used to genuinely caring for the complete person that they walked me to and from the doors carrying my heavy handbag for me in and out of the elevator back and forth down the long hallway, etc. The staff are wonderful. What is my only complaint? I had a particularly complicated tooth that would have been easier to treat differently which none of us knew nor could recognize until my mouth was open and half of my tooth was already drilled away. I have a young face and a very young way about myself for a woman who is nearly 45 years old. No one knew the tooth could be in such bad shape by looking at me. read more

Honestly, I already gave up on it and was ready to remove the tooth that was unprofessionally treated decades ago out of the USA. Dr. Imani saved it! It was not easy. Went in for my first root canal. Didn't know what to expect but didn't expect anything good. Seemed a little weird the chairs were only separated by some cabinets, no private rooms, but whatever. After a short discussion, Dr. Rob did the work and it was totally painless. Just like getting a filling but different. They had a microscope to look at my nerve endings and explained the process. My dentist referred me here. I recently got a crown from my regular dentist for tooth #31 and since the procedure I experienced persistent pain. He determined that I needed a route canal because the nerve was exposed to the newly placed crown. The endodontist to whom he referred me was booked for a week and I didn't want to wait. If you are terrified of any type of dental work, we are kindred spirits. But wait a minute.....a ROOT CANAL????????????????????? OMG, to me it was like being sentenced to a date in a torture chamber.... PANIC ensues. Maybe I'll just get the offending pain filled molar extracted under general anesthesia. At least I wouldn't be aware of what was being done. Yep, my mind was spinning like a hamster wheel. How could I dodge this whole nasty affair or get rid of this pain without having a major panic attack and suffering while getting it treated? I had 3 crowns replaced at my usual dental office about a year ago. My dentist explained that I may need a root canal in the future. Uhhh, nothankyouverymuch !!!! I thought by braving my time in the chair for the 3 new crowns that day would assure that it was a done deal and I was on my way to only cleanings from now on. (sigh of relief) But that wasn't the case.. can't say she didn't warn me. The one tooth had been uncomfortable for awhile but I was out of town for about 5 months and didn't want to chance a bad experience at an unfamiliar dental office so I waited until I got back to California. I was referred to Dr. Loo at Westside Endodontics by my dentist as the roots weren't straight (they looked like one of those moving hula girl's hips in a car window) and beyond what she was comfortable working on. (Kudos to Dr. Skinner) I began the usual visualization and tormenting myself of how bad it was going to be, consulted my "friends" which assured me root canals were pure hell and began winding myself up for the "visit". I was greeted by Lupe, who is a saint. She kept assuring me this was just a consultation and nothing was going to be done today and that root canals aren't really bad. Yeah right, she works there....what else could she say??? OK, the "day" arrives.... After being up all night worrying about how awful this whole deal was going to be, I reluctantly get myself in to the office. Lupe and Leda were both there giving me a pep talk and cheering me on.. After a very short time, Dr. Loo comes into my room to do the dreaded root canal. He is his usual calming self and reassures me again it wasn't going to be what I expected. Dr. Loo was SOOOOO right. Of course there are the injections to anesthetize the area, but those didn't even hurt. ( He must have magic hands). He made absolutely sure I felt nothing and quickly did the root canal. Now don't get me wrong, it's not my first pick of what I want to do during the day but it was absolutely nothing as far as pain or even discomfort goes. I didn't even need to take Ibuprofen afterwards. So if you're terrified at the thought of having a root canal, go to Dr. Loo. Like I mentioned earlier, he has a very calming way about him and excels in his ability to perform root canals. The root canal procedure by the dentist was great. The problem is with the management. I called and set up an appointment for a root canal. I asked them to confirm with insurance what my co-payments will be; they did that 2 days prior to my appointment. I show up and pay the co-payments charge of $10 to see the dentist and $80 for the Root Canal that the management has "determined" to be with the insurance. The payment charge was all placed in my flex spending provided from work. And to remind that flex spending is you use the funds or you lose them at the end of year or when you separate from the company. The root canal service occurred 8 months ago. I unfortunately lost my job and now do not have any flex spending. And now I get a bill from Westside Endodontics with an outstanding balance for the root canal performed. This balance is my co-payment for the root canal that I should have paid during my visit and when I had flex spending. I complained to them and they stated that the problem was the insurance not paying the initial valued agreed to when they called and that I should take the problem to the insurance. I call insurance and they tell me that they have a contract (Plan Liquid Code) with Westide Endodontics and that shows what my co-payments will be. This contract is known by Westside Endodontics and should have charged me the correct co-payment. So I call back Westside Endodontics and tell them what was communicated to me by the insurance. And of course the person goes on about 'how the insurance is not paying what they should be paying...and blah blah'. So much back and forth with the person who who really does not know how to do their job that I gave up. I am frustrated that I have to deal with such people who cannot perform the job adequately. I would recommend to try out another dentist where you will get billed properly. If you separate from your job you cannot expense Westside Endodontics outstanding balance 8+ months after the service date. read more

Office was easy to access, filled out paperwork quickly was shown right to a chair, staff friendly and super efficient, Dr. was really nice. Dr. and tech worked fast on me and made sure I was comfortable, no pain just felt like I was getting a regular filling done. Today was my second visit, after a previous one in 2015. Both root canals on molars. I've seen about 5 different dentists in the last 3-4 years (I know this is technically an Endodontist office, but if you work on my teeth, I call you a dentist), and they are among, if not THE best. I've learned that there are two parts of a good dental visit, the front desk and the actual dental work. I want to be able to get an appointment quickly, I don't want "extra" or unsubstantiated charges when you bill me (I have insurance, and know what my co-pays are) or for you to have me pay the insurance company portion, then be reimbursed. If you need a referral or authorization from another dentist or a doctor (I have other medical conditions), you handle it quickly and efficiently, and I want clear and complete communication from everyone in the office. I want a place that is clean, reasonably quiet, modern (get rid of dead celebrity wall photos and a library of stale magazines other dentists!), and you aren't kept waiting because a dentist has overbooked, and is trying to juggle too many patients simultaneously, and becomes MIA in the middle of a procedure. Of course, I want the dental work to be good, and for them to follow up appropriately. This place in my two visits had passed ALL of those tests. (Well, no follow up yet for today, but I just finished so too soon for that.) Extra kudos to the front office staff here. I have not seen better in any medical office, dental or otherwise. I also like the more "open" feel of the office than most. Oh, the goggles they provided so nothing would get sprayed into my eyes, a nice touch. I also appreciated the recommendation of antibiotics just before the procedure to help prevent infection (my "other medical" includes an autoimmune disease).
