I was cruising through Rialto on a Sunday afternoon and was excited to see a guy with a sign that said "BBQ and Fish". I made a u-turn and stopped in. The people were friendly. I spoke with the gentleman on the sidewalk for a bit. I didn't have exact change for my order and went back to my car. When I returned the guy behind the counter waved me off and told me not to worry about it. The food was terrible. I had the hot links with macaroni and cheese and baked beans. You'd think with a BBQ place, I'd start with the protein, but I'm going to start with the macaroni and..."cheese"? I have a thing about sour cream, cream cheese, mayo and ranch. I don't know what they put in that macaroni, but it wasn't cheese. I could smell it before I even opened the plate. I couldn't bring myself to try it. The baked beans were the best thing on my plate, but I'm fairly certain they came out of a can. The hot links didn't have any grill marks on them nor did they have any type of smoke flavor that I could discern. I'm still wondering if those were cooked outside or in the kitchen. I paid $17 for a plate I didn't eat. I brought it home and gave it to a family member. He couldn't tell what was on the macaroni either but agreed that it wasn't cheese. Today my bf and I decided to try this place out because we were craving BBQ. We were going to go to Lucille's but decided to go somewhere new. So to start off there wasn't any wait time but were introduced to a young man and trying to figure out what what's a good amount of food for two people or more. So they do have a lot of options but not to what we were looking for. They had mostly ribs and chicken for the family selection. I would think they should have a variety of choices of meat in the family pack. I had to order a side of tri-tip which cost more on top of the family meal. I always do enjoy trying the food tho and did ask the DJ what the recommendations were. So placed the order, but wasn't able to pay right away do to machine/WiFi error so had to wait on that. Gladly waited outside my bf and dog. We spoke to the owner Darrell who was a friendly man and told the history of the business, we enjoyed his company, he's been at that location for 16 years and the business has been in the family for 62 years so it's a passion for them and that's their legacy. My rating is mostly on the food, as the experience was pleasant from start to finish. First opening the packages everything looked really good. But when it came to eating it wasn't as expected. The meat was still tough to eat, and flavor wasn't as sweet as we would had liked. We did ask if they had different types of bbq sauce but they said just what it comes with. I would recommend to be able to have different flavors because some people want different taste. Some want sweet bbq, some want honey, or tangy, or spicy or mild. I would consider having options available on the side. The tri-tip was very soft and easy to eat so was very good. Next the beans were delicious, as was recommended by DJ. Next the maccoroni was good, but should be a little bit more cheesier or creamy as was a little dry but woul keep the pepper on the side just in case it was too much for someone. As his sister ate it but the pepper was a bit much for her. The hush puppies were quite interesting. It's supposed to be cornbread in ball forms but it tatste like fired zucchini bread and was an interesting taste. Overall I would give it a try, and see how you like it. But my most recent experience was so devastatingly bad that I felt I had to let other people know. I ordered a party order for my daughters bday. 3 slabs of ribs, 2 whole chickens, 15 links, and 4 sides. Was set to pickup up on Sunday at 12 pm. Double checked to make sure that my order would be ready. Was told yes no problem. Paid in full in advance. Come sunday the shop is closed. No one there, no phone call, no messages nothing!! I live Downey which is a good hour from this place but it happens to be right next to my gfs. I have been wanting to try it so this weekend when I went to visit her we did. It was our first time there and the cashier was very helpful with answering my questions and gave us free rib samples. Any doubts I had about this place were immediately thrown out the window. I am spoiled since I go to Bludso's a lot. I ended up getting the Tri combo which is a great price. I got sliced beef (tri tip), ribs, and chicken and my sides were Mac n cheese and baked beans. My gf ended up getting the chicken dinner with potato salad. All I have to say is that their tri tip is super delicious, the smokey flavor really makes the meat shine. The ribs are great fell right off the bone and had great flavor. The chicken was cooked well and they give you generous pieces. The Mac and cheese was great it wasn't too overpowering but it was nice and cheesy. Their baked are very tasty I believe they put some of their tri tip in it. This spot is definitely one of my favorite BBQ spots now and I would recommend it to anyone in the area.
