These were pretty bad, dry and just didn't look good.

Was looking forward to trying Wilson's BBQ Rib Shack after seeing it on a Los Angeles Black Business list. Reserved a couple meals for the fourth of July 2020 and was excited to try some legit Southern-style BBQ right around the corner in Alhambra. Unfortunately, I was very underwhelmed with the food quality. The brisket, which I was looking forward to the most, was cut into strange chunks (not sliced) and was very dry. The shredded pork also was dry and was not properly shredded. The sides were lackluster: the mac n cheese was dry and the baked beans were also pretty sad (see photos). The staff also forgot a portion of my order; a full rack of ribs (thank goodness I checked before I left) and they also ran out of yams that day. I actually did enjoy the ribs, they were pretty tender and had a nice flavor. If I ever come back, I'll just order full racks and nothing else. Hopefully you guys can continue to improve for the next major holiday!

There was also plenty of parking and several seating options inside. We decided to order a little bit of everything so we could try as much of the menu as possible. We had the brisket, brisket burnt ends, rib tips, several sides, and both desserts. The brisket burnt ends were definitely my favorite. They were smoky, tender, and full of flavor. The brisket had a beautiful bark and was cooked perfectly, and the rib tips were just as good. I was honestly just as impressed with the sides. My favorites were the spicy mac and cheese and the potato salad. The potato salad was creamy and was the perfect thing to cool your mouth after eating the steamed jalapeños. The coleslaw and green beans were also really refreshing and balanced out all the rich barbecue. The biggest surprise for me was the sweet yams. It was so flavorful that it tasted like it had been slow-cooked in brown sugar and spices for hours. For dessert, I tried both the banana pudding and the peach cobbler. The banana pudding was the winner for me, but I also liked that the peach cobbler wasn't overly sweet. Even the cornbread was delicious. I ended up pairing it with the barbecue baked beans and was a great combo. Our total came to about $110 before tax and tip, but we ordered enough food to try a wide variety of meats, sides, and desserts, so I thought it was well worth it. Overall, there wasn't a single thing we ordered that I wouldn't get again. If you're looking for great Texas-style barbecue in the Inland Empire, I'd definitely recommend giving this place a try. I'll definitely be back to work my way through the rest of the menu.

The young woman slicing the meats was very nice when explaining their menu and how to order. I read plenty of reviews before coming here and many noted the sides were lacking but I thought the opposite! The beans were extremely rich and decadent, and the yams were soo tasty without being overly spicy.

They've been in that location for 19 years but first thing to know is there is no dine in option and if you blink, you'll pass right by it. You walk in, there's the order/pick up counter and a couple chairs to sit in to wait for your order, a jukebox that says "do not touch" and a soda fridge. But don't fret, the ribs are worth picking up or having delivered. Fresh, succulent, "cut it with a spoon" tender and meaty ribs. Very good sauce covering everything and I don't say this lightly. I usually eat my ribs sauceless or with just a little to dip in to but not this time. All my fingers and half my face got sauced and I didn't care. The sides were as noteworthy as the ribs. Delicious, moist, cheesy homemade (or good as homemade if it was store bought) mac & cheese and baked beans cooked to perfection. The only things that held up the fifth star was 1. Their sliced beef. It was fatty and drenched in bbq sauce like they were hiding their sliced beef shame in it, 2. The service was slow. I called in the order, was told 15 minutes, I arrived 30 mins later and they hadn't even started putting the order together. I ended up waiting an additional 15 mins while they prepared the order, and 3. Their hours are a little selective. Make sure you check the hours on the day you go. All of this is forgivable though because what they do right, they do RIGHT!! And they definitely do ribs right. Sorry, I failed to capture any pictures.

Texas Roadhouse has moved its takeout service to a dedicated pickup area outside the restaurant, making the whole process much faster and more convenient. I ordered my steak medium-rare, and unlike previous takeout orders where it would end up medium or even overcooked by the time I got home, this time it was still perfectly medium-rare, juicy, and exactly as ordered. That alone made a big difference. They also included their famous fresh rolls, which are always a nice bonus and never disappoint. I tried the Texas Chili as a side for the first time, and it completely exceeded my expectations. It was loaded with meat, rich, flavorful, and hearty. I honestly wish I had ordered it sooner--it'll definitely be my go-to side from now on. It's great to see these improvements. Don't want to be sweating while you're eating. Coming from highland/redlands, I am happy that there is a ayce kbbq spot in close proximity. Starting with cons: the parking is absolutely terrible. Parking spots are cramped and there's simple not enough spaces, especially during peak times. Pros: now as a long time ayce bbq lover, I understand that red castle quality is not top tier and I don't expect it to be when I go. I view red castle as an affordable joint to get my brisket and beef belly fix, which are the only two items that I basically get. It's odd reading about others experience with service, because every time I go, the service is always fast. I don't need to ask for the grill change because they are fully staffed and consistently checking in. Sure, the hospitality could improve a little but realize what you're going in there for. To stuff ya face! If you're coming here and comparing this place to other kbbq joints, you'll surely be let down. But to enjoy ayce protein for ~25 bucks without having to clean and prep a solid meal, many would realize the true gem that is Red Castle. I remember when their ayce was 13-15 bucks when they opened. Those were the days. I'm also glad that they allow single dining during the week. Not something that I'm able to take advantage of most of the time bc of work but I'm glad it's offered. To all the kbbq snobs (I'm one of them still). Go pay 40 for ayce somewhere else and be happy. Red castle is my go to for a quick fix that is close to home and affordable.
