Food sits there too long, causing constant nausea, bloating, pain, and exhaustion. GERD is chronic acid reflux, where stomach acid repeatedly flows back up into the esophagus. It burns. It damages tissue. And while most people think of heartburn, they don't realize how destructive that acid can be over time. Night after night, while I'm asleep, that acid creeps upward. It erodes enamel. It weakens teeth. It undoes years of careful brushing, flossing, and trying to do everything "right."
