I am sharing my story to inform others that they can find better oral care elsewhere. In mid-June, I went for my first check up and cleaning at Glendale Modern Dentistry. Upon arrival, I learned that required, pre-appointment forms had not been emailed. As a result, I would have to complete them before my appointment. No tablet computer was provided, so I was left to fill out the forms on my personal cell phone. The task was made more difficult due to a lack of internet service in the office. I was told to connect to Dunkin' Donuts WiFi, which again had a poor signal. Eventually, I stood outside in the 100+ degree heat to complete the series of forms. Next, an extensive set of X-rays and photographs taken. Then I was escorted to an exam room where the hygienist hurriedly performed periodontal charting. I attempted to explain that I was very anxious, and usually the hygienist numbs my mouth to avoid discomfort that occurs during my cleaning. The hygienist seemed to lack empathy, and told me that she would prefer to try doing the cleaning without a local anesthetic first. Next the dentist reviewed the X-rays with me, indicating that I have no cavities. When the time finally came for my cleaning, the hygienist refused to perform the service unless I agreed to the following additional procedures: - Scaling and Root Planing -Adjunctive Pre-Diagnostic Test that aids in detection of mucosal abnormalities -Fluoride Varnish -A laser treatment (which she eventually admitted was unnecessary) Again I explained that I was very anxious, and that for this first visit I simply wanted a local anesthetic with a standard teeth cleaning. It was important that I gain confidence and establish trust in the hygienist's quality of care. The hygienist repeatedly refused to do a basic teeth cleaning unless I agreed to the additional procedures, so I eventually left the office without my 6-month cleaning. Of course now my insurance has now been charged approximately $1700 for the X-rays and exam, and I am left without the routine cleaning for which the appointment was intended. At the same time, my young-adult son was being seen in another exam room. This a young man who takes good care of his teeth and has had routine dental appointments every 6 months his entire life. His experience resulted in an out-of-pocket charge of $85 for an unneeded deep cleaning. The hygienist also recommended he get a laser treatment, but eventually said that it could be done at a follow up visit instead. Glendale Modern Dentistry is not interested in quality health care. They seem to be much more focused on up-charging people for unnecessary services. Save yourself the inconvenience and expense by going elsewhere!

We've had multiple scheduling issues in the past, but today was the worst. My son had a broken wire on his bottom permanent retainer. I called and was told it could be repaired without seeing the orthodontist. (For some reason, you now have to call a separate number to schedule ortho appointments.) Later, someone from the office called to confirm the appointment and told me we would need ortho after all--then put me on hold and came back saying actually, it could be handled in the general office. Confusing, but we went in anyway. When we arrived, they charged me $75 for the repair. My son went back, and instead of fixing the wire, they didn't even see it. They ended up roughly ripping out the bottom retainer completely. My son has anxiety, it's noted in his file, he takes medication for it--which Dr. Hannah understood and worked with patiently--but no one here took that into consideration. After removing the retainer, they made him sit and wait, only to tell him they couldn't finish the job because the ortho cabinet was locked. He was left with rough glue in his mouth and his tongue was being scratched by dried adhesive. The staff told me I now had to call ortho myself and wait for a new appointment. When I called, I was told the doctor won't even be in for over two weeks and to get it done sooner I would have to drive from our home in Glendale to Chandler - 45 minutes. I agreed the chandler appointment. This was a complete mess from start to finish. Poor communication, lack of coordination, and zero concern for patient experience. Really disappointing. I am looking for a new dentist for my kids.

I called this morning, promptly at 8 AM, and to my surprise I was able to get an appointment for 9:40 AM. I had read some not so good reviews about this place and also some very good reviews about this place so I came to get my tooth removed because of the pain. When I arrived, I was greeted with smiles and was taken in within 10 minutes to see the dentist. My tooth was extracted and I am very happy with the service I received from everyone. Everyone from the receptionist to the hygienist and the dentist himself were absolutely professional, kind, courteous, and had great personalities. I have had great experiences in the past, which makes this even more frustrating. My appointment was scheduled for 8:00 AM and I was not taken back until 8:30. I let the front desk know that I needed to leave by 9:00 AM to make it home for a meeting, yet the delay was not handled with any urgency. Starting an appointment that late, especially for an early morning time slot, feels unacceptable. The cleaning itself was extremely uncomfortable. The hygienist began using an electric pick and water was spraying everywhere. It was messy and unpleasant, so I asked him to stop. When he switched to manual tools, he claimed that Lisa used to do the electric cleaning as well, which simply is not true. Lisa was thorough, gentle, and professional, and my teeth always felt genuinely clean after her appointments. This time, my teeth do not even feel fully cleaned. The hygienist appeared very young and inexperienced and unfortunately came across as unprofessional and lacking basic knowledge and confidence. It was one of the most uncomfortable dental experiences I have had. I truly love Dr. Tol, which makes this decision difficult, but based on this experience, I will be finding a new dentist. I hope the practice takes this feedback seriously because it is clear that the level of care and professionalism has declined.

This is exactly what happened to me. I paid the $70 and then he told me I had to get an oral surgeon in order to extracted tooth. That literally makes no sense and also I was able to see a regular dentist that was able to extract the tooth with no issue. I asked him why exactly he was not capable of pulling the tooth and he started to get verbally aggressive with me to the point where I told him I felt unsafe and I started to record on my phone They offered me a refund, but they don't appear to actually be processing it .

The front office staff immediately created an uncomfortable environment. The woman managing the front desk was loud, abrasive, and spoke to patients in a condescending tone. She also shared personal details about Dr. Benjamin and spoke negatively about her care, which felt highly inappropriate and unprofessional. During my visit, I was unexpectedly taken back for a cleaning. The hygienist was rough, and at one point a tool caused a burning sensation in my mouth. I stopped the cleaning immediately. At checkout, a simple request for my Invisalign trays turned into a tense and confrontational interaction. The same front office staff member was argumentative and escalated the situation unnecessarily. This was a very disappointing experience. It is unfortunate to see how far this practice has declined. I would not return or recommend this office.
