I wanted to give this a higher rating... however, I cannot. There are definitely some pros and cons with staying on a military base. Pro: Safety. Friendliness. COST. Military lifestyle. COST. Ease of booking. COST... you get the idea... Cons: Smells. Distance to activities. No 24-hour access to a hot meal. Loved the fact that I was traveling in a group with my son and the main group stayed in a name-brand hotel. Two nights at that other hotel would have been over $400!!! Two nights here? Well... if you know, you know! The Westwind staff set us up in a TLF. They are located right behind the main building. Unfortunately, because of the time we arrived, it was completely dark. Oh, no outside lights on the building. Made me feel a bit awkward. When we got inside the "apartment" it smelled. Not like a horrendous smell, but a "this hasn't been used in a while smell". Took a bit to get it aired out but was bearable. If you are staying in the TLF with your family... I would suggest you bring some Clorox wipes, a bottle of hand soap, laundry detergent and dryer sheets. The kitchen has the very basics. Dishes/silverware, pots and pans, large refrigerator, ice trays, kitchen table and high chair. There's a very small bottle of liquid dish soap provided plus two dishwasher tabs (but I don't think they're actually dishwasher tabs, as the name on packaging says "Finish", which is just an additive). I brought my own coffeemaker as I'm a bit weird about using someone else's. The 2nd bedroom (not pictured) had two twin beds. Unfortunately, the linens were very lightweight. The bed wasn't uncomfortable, but wasn't the most comfortable either. Overall, it was a very good stay. I would stay again!

Very nice accommodations here on Travis AFB. Easy friendly check-in to our business 2BR suite. Priced great at $97 a night! Full accommodations for our stay, and everything worked great. Lived it! Well done, Westwind!

Well I have to stay I have stayed in hotels, motels, hostels, timeshare properties and most any other form of accommodations across the country and Westwind Inn is definitely in the top 5. We stayed in the TLF suites located on Travis Air Force Base and I have to tell you I was totally impressed and to be honest a little surprised. I fully expected these rooms to be like refurbished dorms or something to that effect and I was completely wrong. When we walked in the first words out of my mouth were WOW.....and as I walked around a little more the same word came out of my mouth again.....WOW!!!!!! Here are WOW factors: for starters FREE WI-FI and it is very reliable!!!!!! Living Room: Indoor/Outdoor rug throughout the suite......exception being the bathroom and Kitchen Ceiling Fan Flat Screen TV Coffee Table DVD Player Sofa Bed Lounge Chair Chaise Lounger Large Computer Desk and Chair Kitchen: Huge Space with room for a Table and 4 Chairs along with a High chair if you have a toddler. Dishwasher 2 Microwaves Pantry Gas/Electric Stove Side by Side Fridge Coffee Maker (free coffee, Tea, and creme) Toaster Ice Bucket Utensils.....plates......glasses.....silverware.....pots and pans.....(you get the idea) Full Kitchen Hallway Closet with Broom and Dustpan......along with a stand alone fan and Playpen for toddlers. The Closet at the end of the Hallway has a safe you can use FREE of CHARGE There is also extra linen in that same closet and a nice Framed picture on the wall. Bedrooms (there are 2 of them) and the beds themselves were AWESOME!!!!!! The Bedroom on the right is the guest bedroom which has one bed......huge walk-in Closet......Flat Screen TV......dresser......2 end tables and a bed bench The Master Bedroom on the left has 2 beds with bed benches.....same huge walk-in Closet......TV......dresser.....and I mini table between the beds. There are at least 5 trash cans and plenty of outlets for your convenience. Bathroom: Very spacious Plenty of free soap......shampoo......body lotion......and TOWELS There is a gripper mat for the tub so you won't slip while taking a shower There is a washer and dryer in the bathroom as well in it's own closet.....Loved it!!!! Here are my only complaints: The parking area is a bit of a walk from you car to your suite and it is not well lit at all. A matter of fact I would not recommend women to be walking alone at night and if you have a fear of open spaces.....this is not the place to be especially at night. The heating and AC unit is a bit loud but not terrible The Ice Maker and Water Dispenser on the Fridge didn't work but we did have the Ice Bucket. The water takes awhile to get hot.....but it does get hot indeed. However the water in the tub is very slow to drain out. Finally the sofa bed is good for sleeping on perhaps ( I didn't try it out.....LOL) but it is not good for sitting on......very uncomfortable!!!!!! These issues combined were not enough to give this establishment a lower star rating.....because bottom line this suite was awesome. I have to thank my wonderful sister in law and her husband for "hooking us up" because after all we were in town because she invited us to there Christmas Party. Now I would tell you all to make sure if your in the Bay Area to make sure you stay at this location.....but you have to be family member of an Active or Retired Military officer. So if you are....there is really no other choice for you but the Westwind Inn!!!!!! Eat, Drink, and be Merry my Friends!!!!!

This looks like bed bug to me.

Horrible experience. After being in my room for a couple days I noticed bugs crawling up the walls. Then I looked and found bugs in the bed. I called the front desk and they did nothing. They whipped out a letter they had ready to hand out saying I have to was my clothes and they will not move me to another room. What?

One crummy DSL connection for multiple guest rooms? This time, we go down in flames. No living in fame here. Evolve, Westwind Inn.

Response bias: those who love or hate produce majority of responses. I love and have different aspects of this place. 1. You will have a VERY hard time finding cleaner lodging in the Air Force inventory. I was shocked at how nice this place is. 2. Internet blows hard. One DSL connection for multiple rooms? That's a step above dial up. Remember that? You can only get online at very extreme hours, even in the lobby. But if one person in the building decides to partake in usual TDY proclivities like movies, Skype, or porn...better start using your data. If this were an unfunded TDY I would get an Airbnb. I can't complete assignments for work without a mobile hotspot. But....like I said....clean. Hardly any roaches....just one so far.

We were very impressed. Since we were not on active duty, we had to wait until 2 weeks before we were to arrive to book our rooms. The $30 single rooms were gone, so we ended up paying $43 for a 2 bedroom unit. This turns out to be a 2 bedroom apartment with a king bedroom and bedroom with 2 double beds. There is 1 bathroom, with a tub shower combo and a washer dryer. The spacious living room has a sleeper sofa and there is a very large kitchen with a table and 4 chairs along with all the amenities you'd have at home. Each unit is fully furnished and comes complete with pots, pans, plates and linen. You have both a front and back door and plenty of space to paly outside. For an additional charge you can bring your pets along. These facilites are located directly across from the Conference Center where we had our party, so they were perfect for getting dressed in and returning to after the party. No need to drink and drive. Godfathers Pizza delivers until around 11pm and you can walk down to the shopette and buy food 24 hours daily.

    Two double beds.

I've stayed at other Marriott's and Hyatts so I expected similar quality of experience. This was a huge joke. From the freeway, it looked pretty nice. clean looking tall building. the goods: The bed was okay. More firm than I preferred but it did the job. the AC was amazing. kept it at a cool 65 all day. and they allowed me to check in at noon. The bad: the parking looked a little bare. if not for the building looking clean, it would look like a deserted parking lot. Check in took a few minutes. there wasn't a staff at the front desk. Had to wait for them. Then they tell me, the elevator closest to us is down. I need to go to the other elevator that's closer to my room and I can drive and park behind the building, its right next to my room. They must've told everyone this cause there were many cars parked on that side behind the building. I walked from the front. it wasn't a long walk since I didn't have much to carry. but the stairs was down, the elevator was down, the fitness room was closed, and they had these vacuums or fans all over the first floor. was there a water leakage? ice machine was also down. The room was clean. no issues but the walls were extremely thin. can hear anytime someone closes the door or unlocks their door. On checkout. I went to front desk and i waited 5 minutes for the staff to return as well. Why is there never a front desk staff present?

Overall, our friends had a nice stay. They enjoyed the breakfast each morning with bagels, oatmeal, bacon, hash brown, coffee and hot chocolate, etc. Sodas and water at the front desk are hella expensive - $4 each. We were gonna buy 10. The front desk person warned us of the cost and told us to just go to Safeway. Thankful for that tip! I know this place had really BAD management in the past, not sure what the case is these days. We stayed there last night and we still couldn't get over how stained their carpet & furniture were and the damages in the room. I know this is to be expected in cheaper hotel chains but I've seen better and cleaner rooms in such places. We were so disappointed. We stayed in a two bedroom suite. One of the bedrooms had a damaged closet door, the kitchen glass cabinet was dirty and cracked, and the cabinets were chipped. The carpet was stained everywhere and the high chairs stained! We wanted to leave but it was a busy weekend and we may not find another accommodation. I immediately called the front desk to make them aware of the damage. Both Gabriella and Connor were accommodating and understanding. When the swimming area didn't have towels, Connor went out of his way to talk to us to explain that they're being washed and will deliver them as soon as they're ready. Within 30 minutes, they got delivered by a friendly Asian staff member. Breakfast was very busy. There was a line to make waffles. Food was being consumed fast. The male and female staff members in the kitchen worked hard and fast to refill everything. They were apologetic and cordial. Their staff members made our stay better despite the condition of our room. Not my business, but the management should do some room deep cleaning when business is a bit slow to make sure their guests would want to return. It's not much to do. There was no phone call, no email, and no communication that our confirmed room type would not be honored. Had we known before the cancellation deadline, we would have made other arrangements, especially given that this was a holiday stay. At 10 PM on Valentine's Day, finding another hotel wasn't realistic, so we accepted the downgrade. Unfortunately, the experience didn't end there. Loud music began playing somewhere within the building at 7:00 AM and continued for nearly two hours until we finally got up to get dressed as sleeping in was no longer an option. We were not on a lobby floor, and the volume was significant enough to disrupt the morning. After a late holiday evening, that was not the expectation. The room itself was clean and the check-in associate was polite, but the lack of advance communication, the room downgrade, and the early morning noise significantly impacted what was meant to be a relaxing Valentine's stay. We hope management addresses these concerns appropriately.

There aren't many hotel options and no higher-end ones. This Comfort Inn mistakenly is identified as a 3-star option on many online booking sites. It most definitely is not. Some of the highlights: * Worst shower ever - basically we didn't have a working shower. Ours was clearly busted but by the time we found out, we only had a short time to get ready. We could not adjust the water temp, so we would be hit with sudden blasts of freezing cold water. The only option was to stop the water, soap up and hope you would have enough warm water to rinse off. * The place was noisy. Both in our room (ancient AC unit) and outside, where the lack of soundproofing is painfully obvious as you hear all the comings and goings throughout the night (and there are many!). * Threadbare bedding and holes in curtains. This room is strictly no frills. But there is a minifridge and a microwave in the room. * Breakfast not great - watery coffee, old/stale muffins, along with the standard make-your-own waffles and wet eggs. But it IS free. So there is that. It wasn't TERRIBLE for one night, except for the awful shower experience. I only paid $76 on Priceline, but the hotel does charge a $150 - $200 deposit to your credit card when you arrive. And to give you an idea of what is going on in the hotel, a large sign at the front desk proclaims something like: "If there is a Do Not Disturb sign on your room for 4 days, we're coming in" - I'm paraphrasing of course. But it definitely seems like people may be living there and maybe not doing wholesome things on property. I have another business trip to Fairfield coming up and I won't consider this hotel again.
