It was a bit of a wait for our waitress to come to our table, but she was friendly enough. The food was tasty. I got the beer, braised brisket sandwich, and I expected it to be on... A group of stopped by the Rathdrum location on the way from Spokane Airport to Sandpoint. We ordered avocado salads and pork tacos. The salads were fresh, large, and nicely seasoned. Came to Idaho to visit my Dad and he took me here for lunch and a beer. Best food in N Idaho by far! Stopped in to "try" this place for the first time because it was always busy and many cars parked outside. Was pleasantly surprised with the great food! Cooked to order, fresh, hot, quality, taste, no long wait, all were superb! We went back again for a second time a week later and same experience. Great food cooked to order, no holding bins, no stale food, no prepackaged food, etc. This has become our new favorite restaurant. The only tiny niggly I could suggest is a better desert combination. We like ice cream after dinner (pie and ice cream or brownie and ice cream) and they don't offer that. I am still giving them 5 stars for the incredible food. Brewery visit #238 for me and this one is pretty close to home so can be a regular stop, and it will be. Westwood Brewing Co is in a former bank building that now identifies, correctly I might add, as a brewery. It is welcoming both from the outside and the inside. Two rooms are set up with tables as well as bar space, and it is nicely decorated. The old bank vault is still there and appears to be storage for spirits. No, not ghosts! Whisky and such! There were four of us so we were taken to a table and ordered up beers. They have quite a list of beers on tap from all over, which included their own beers as well as beers from Iron Goat Brewing, Mother Earth Brewing, and Highlander just over in Montana. I went with the Smokestack Scotch Ale which was quite good. I'm not doing individual beers reviews this time around as I was sitting with my family and enjoying conversation, beers, and food. All three were excellent! I highly recommend WBC and we will definitely be back for more. I just wish it were a bit closer to me. We came with a large group after a fundraiser and they were able to find room after a very short wait to put tables together. My fish and chips was good with Homemade tartar sauce! My husband ordered the Smoked Brisket Cheesesteak Sandwich and an order of Garlic Parmesan Fries. He really enjoyed both items. I ordered the Barbecue Brisket Mac and Cheese. They've really improved. We got a gift card for here from church friends and decided to give it another try. The food is a lot better and the service is still really good. They must have gotten better cooks and it may also help that their menu has changed as well as the last few items we've ordered there are no longer on the menu. Cheat-Meal verb Meaning - the one meal a week the weight challenged look forward too... Yes, the above describes me these days. A rigid diet most of the week and one good meal where all bets are off. This week it was time to re-visit my best friend - beer and the fantastic (but sometimes unhealthy) food that goes with it. Westwood Brewing did not let me down. We went nice and early to ensure no wait, and that paid off. We walked in and sat ourselves in a moderately busy dining room. Our super fantastic waitress was there right away bringing us menu's and taking drink orders. I went right for the Conducter IPA and that's where I started the rest of the night. The Conductor was a wonderfully balanced West Coast IPA and there was no need for me to explore any further today. Up next, the fried pickle appetizer. Just plain good. Large pickle spears with a very crunchy (not soggy and not falling apart) coating, dipped in some fantastic (maybe house made) ranch. Our entree's consisted of the the smoked brisket mac and cheese, Idaho nachos w/brisket and the smoked pork tacos. Everything was well executed, with big portions, great flavor and cooked just right. Sweet potato fries are the bomb! Best anywhere I've ever had them. Happy hour is priced nicely, wish it was also a late night offering-like from 800pm to close. We've come in as our small family and as large groups and they've always been accommodating. The male server in the dining room with dark hair has always been so nice even though our group of football players make messes. The only downfall - they don't offer a gluten free bun that is also vegan and the beyond burger isn't always cooked all the way through. I always ask for no onions and every single time, regardless of the server, there is onions on my lettuce wrap MYO beyond burger. I really dislike onions, so this has been quite frustrating-Im guessing it's an issue kitchen side. Delicious food and good beer! Only 4 of their own brews in tap, but plenty of other Washington beers were available. We enjoyed the Hobo Hazy IPA and the smooth Steam Engine Stout. Happy Hour is 3-6 daily. There is a great menu of starters to entrees, along with monthly specials. Saturday Prime Rib starts at 4:00 until it's all gone. Plenty of street parking for this little sweet spot. Built in a historic building that used to be a local bank and imbibed with railroad decor take some time and stop in. Service was not good, very unfriendly staff (waitress and host) the beer cheese soup was absolutely awful, tasted like the beer had not been cooked down at all. The burger was definitely not bad but overall not worth the price.
