Ive been going to the Roost for almost 20 years. Haven't been there since Woody sold it so I thought id check it out. What a s&@! Show! The waitress was kind but clearly did not want to be there. I ordered an omelet with crispy hash browns. I heard the cook tell my waitress that he doesnt cook crispy hash browns. She put the plate down in front of me and says "no crispy hash browns" they had no browning to them. They were soggy and not what I ordered. So, I had a few choice words for the cook then got up and walked out. I will NEVER go back. read more

What happened to this place? New owners made some nice upgrades as well as giving a top to bottom badly needed cleaning. Staff is always friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the food has gone downhill the past few weeks. I'm a regular and have spoken to the staff numerous times regarding portion size, excessive oil soaked food and inconsistent quality. Had to send multiple items back to the kitchen over the past few weeks. Concerns fall on deaf ears. Sadly, we are now looking for another breakfast spot in the area. read more

We have been regulars at Rustlers Roost for YEARS! They had the best eggs Benedict in town. We went on Easter and it was empty, food was horrible, eggs over cooked. All the long term staff has left. Definitely down hill since the new owners. What a shame. Bring back WOODY! read more

This was my first visit since the new owners. I have been a long time customer. I got to say I was little disappointed. I had the ham and eggs along with the biscuit and gravy. The ham slice was not much thicker than a piece of baloney and after it was grilled it was pretty dry and tough, The biscuit was a nice size but was burned on the top and was pretty flavorless. The gravy which has always been a hit at the Roost was very thin. The eggs were cooked well. Hash browns were OK. Sorry to say after 40 years of going to the Roost in all its various location this was probably the worst food quality I have had. Service was a little lacking also. read more

We were regulars with the previous owners and the food was always good. Stopped in today to try out breakfast with the new owners and was disappointed. Although my husband's french toast and bacon were good, my min-vege-egg benedict was not. The English Muffin was over toasted and difficult to cut even with a sharp knife. The poached egg was over cooked, and the hollandaise was not very good. I ordered my hashbrowns slightly undercooked so they would be soft and not crispy. They came out very crispy and looked like they had been cooked in a deep fryer. The server asked if they were too crispy for me me and I said yes. She said she would get me another order. However, after sitting there for 15 minutes, nothing arrived. When I inquired about the new order of hasbrowns, she seemed surprised but indicated she could get me another order. Since we were done eating, I said no. I asked for a discount, and was surprised I only received $2.00 off my $11.49 order when I was only able to eat half of it. Quality of service and food has dropped quite a bit in the last few months. Lately the eggs and bacon are over-cooked; the toast is barely warmed bread with hardly any butter. The staff was actually UNfriendly. The hostess was really short with everyone waiting for tables. We got seated and waited 20 min as our waitress walked past us over and over going to the corner station. The food was really sad. The country gravy had gravy consistency but that's all it had - NO flavor, the "new potatoes" were deep friend potato rounds that had no seasoning or anything on them - basically tasted like nothing, inedible in my opinion. Thank goodness I didn't order the biscuits and gravy, the biscuit was really dense but also...just lacked flavor. Super underwhelming, no love for what they are doing. read more

Country fried steak was pretty decent, but I really liked their gravy. Make sure you get the gravy with the sausage. One thing about this location is the parking. You will not be able to get to it from the 95, but you will need to access it from behind Maverick. Not such a bad thing as the traffic is pretty ruthless on the 95 these days. The decor is dated, so the CA yuppies might be put off, but the selection of food and quality that I observed was certainly top of the line. Double check the day they are closed, but it is currently Tuesday, which is real handy as I often find myself needing to eat somewhere on Monday. read more

Talk about walking into a saloon style, breakfast/lunch diner style place! Upon entering, we were told it would be a 20 minute wait, but were immediately offered a coffee or a mimosa as we waited. Heck yea! Bring the mimosa in a boot shaped glass! Coffee was a lil weak, but it didn't really detract from anything. The cowboy burger hit the spot, and the fries were nice & crunchy. This place was super busy on a sunday at 11am. I wouldn't mind headin back sometime and trying the breakfast options. The menu was pretty big. read more

I can't review the food because we were not there that long. The horrible attitude of one of the helpers made us leave. Walked in with a bright open sign on before closing along with two other tables. Heard one of the waitresses state " don't people look at their clocks". We promptly got up and left and stated we did look at our clock before coming in. First time at this establishment. They will not se us for a second time. Sad to see how hard it is to find good help to support your business. I am a business owner and very conscious of how people interact with our customers. RR is one of the best breakfast establishment in Hayden. I enjoy a delicious Country Fried Steak, 3 eggs, and homestyle fries. For ten dollars and changed I thought it was a great deal. Then, I noticed it also comes with Biscuits and Gravy. I almost felt guilty eating it all, because of the price point. I was as if I was stealing the delicious food. To ease my Jiminy Cricket, I told the owner that I thought it was TOO MUCH food for the price. Don't hate me, but it had to be said. He told me that he understands that they are heavy-handed with the portions, but it more concerned with making people happy over turning a huge profit. My primary concern was to make sure they were making enough money for themselves to keep the doors open. We will be back, time and time again. The decor is a bit kitschy and the service could be better, but what's the main reason to visit any restaurant? Yup, the food. I'm not really a breakfast guy, but if I get the cravings for simple classics, this place comes to mind first for bacon, eggs, sausage and toast... and damn those home fries are super good. Perfect every time. Lots of parking, reasonable prices, friendly staff, clean. I understand that lunch here is good too, but if I'm walking in the door here, it's gonna be for breakfast. In fact, after writing this review, I'm freaking hungry for one of their meals. Dangit. So yeah, it's a short but sweet review for Rustlers Roost, but breakfast should be too. Recommended. read more

Stopped for a late breakfast & were seated immediately with water and coffee in a booth in the western themed dining area. Order came quickly and food was hot and delicious. What it has going for it: - server was good - didn't have to wait to be seated (Friday morning) - pricing on par with similar establishments - portion size was decent What it has going against it: - food was rather bland - nickel & dime you for certain items - decor is a little long in the tooth So I had eggs and steak.... pretty simple meal. Eggs were underdone, steak was like a 3oz steak (overcooked) and potatoes that were the side were a little undercooked. If the cooks got it tightened up a little this would rate better in my opinion. read more

Great little breakfast spot. Good food and great service. Good menu. It wasn't very busy at 7:30 am on a Thursday but I'm sure this is a popular lunch spot for people who work in the area. It might be a little hard to find as it is in a little strip mall right along hwy 95 but the access is through a small entry behind the gas station next door. I'm sure the locals know it well.
