I got diagnosed with bilateral carpal tunnel syndrome and bilateral ulnar nerve neuropathy. Pretty painful and disabling , especially for a nurse. My physician's plan was rest for 4 weeks with splints on 18 hours out of 24 minimum then cortisone injections then surgical release and rehab for a few weeks if not months. I also have 3 kids under the age of 9. Imagine my dismay and distress. Not able to use my arms and hands for anything and a possible permanent loss of function. I already had partial grasp paralysis (unable to open jars, even if they were already unlocked; fine pincher grasp was starting to being iffy too). Pins and needles in my arms from elbows to fingertips. So, by chance after sharing my troubles with friends, Amy told me to come and see her for a first visit and see what I'd think. I came thinking, worse case scenario I get a massage, best it works a bit to relief the pain and maybe get some motor function back. It was the best decision of my life regarding this plague with my arms. Amy said it was not so much carpal tunnel syndrome as much as tendonitis that was the problem. Yes all my tendons in my arms especially forearms were so inflamed and painful that it ended up compressing nerves and that carpal ligament is irritated by the tendons being inflamed. I came with pain at 6~7/10 at rest with flares to 8 when using my arms before my first massage when she was done the pain was4~5/10 when moving my arms and the pins and needles were decreased by 50%! So quite an improvement. The massage itself not enjoyable at all, myofascial release of years of tightness is no easy feast but IT WORKS. My insurance does not cover her (out of network not covered) but I happily pay her fees. I 3 months of seeing her (probably 7 or 8 times now because my schedule is pretty packed) my carpal tunnel and ulnar nerve neuropathy (bilateral) is on its way to be a thing of the past. I have occasional pain flare ups and most symptoms and problems are at a level of 2~3 out of 10 now most of the time,. With plan on going once to twice a month for the next few months, I sure hope to get to almost complete resolution of this! So 8 one-hour massages versus months of immobilization and surgery and rehab with high possibilty of residual nerve damages; I don't know for you but I sure I am glad I picked the non invasive treatment. Cost wise I have not missed a day of work due to pain since starting the massages, and surgery cost range from 5 to 10 thousands. You do the math! Go see Amy she might just save you a lot of trouble. I got 2 hours, 1 for myself and 1 for my boyfriend, we each got a psychic reading as well as a rieki healing session. Not only was she expmtremely helpful prior to our appointment with helping me decide what would be best for us, she was also very warm and hospitable!
