My primary care physician ordered a urine test and an AFP blood test. To my complete shock, the AFP results came back elevated. My doctor called me into his office and explained that the blood work showed signs that could be consistent with cancer. Hearing those words was one of the most frightening moments of my life. I consider myself a healthy person with no significant medical history, so this came completely out of nowhere. My wife and I were devastated. Like any parent, my first thoughts were about my two young children. I couldn't stop thinking, "What if I have cancer? What if I won't be here to watch my kids grow up?" My doctor referred me to a urologist, but the earliest appointment we could get was August 5th. To us, that felt like an eternity. Every day waiting was filled with anxiety, fear, and countless sleepless nights. My wife spent an entire Friday calling every urologist and imaging center she could find. We even decided we would pay out of pocket if necessary because we simply couldn't wait. Most places couldn't fit us in or weren't willing to help. Then she called Medical Imaging of Southern California on Wilshire Boulevard. From the very first phone call, everything changed. After hearing our situation, the staff immediately understood the urgency and compassionately found a way to fit me in that very same day. That simple act of kindness meant more to us than words can express. When I arrived, everyone already knew my situation and treated me with genuine care and empathy. There was no feeling of being "just another patient." They made me feel like a person whose fears truly mattered. I especially want to recognize Carla, the ultrasound technologist. She was absolutely incredible. Throughout the entire examination, she remained calm, professional, gentle, and incredibly compassionate. She understood how scared I was and constantly reassured me that I was in good hands. She explained each step of the process, answered my questions with patience, and treated me with kindness that I'll never forget. Healthcare needs more people like Carla. Once my scans were completed, they didn't make me wait days wondering about the results. They were immediately reviewed by Dr. Jabour, who personally met with me afterward. I truly cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Jabour. He took the time to carefully review every image with me, explain exactly what he was seeing, and answer every question my wife and I had. He never rushed us. He spoke with confidence, compassion, and honesty. Instead of simply reading a report, he educated us, reassured us, and made sure we understood everything. His calm demeanor, extensive knowledge, and genuine concern immediately put us at ease. By the time we left his office, the fear that had consumed our family for days had been replaced with hope and tremendous relief. It felt like a thousand-pound weight had been lifted off our shoulders. Medical Imaging of Southern California didn't just perform an ultrasound. They changed our lives. They reminded us what healthcare is supposed to be: compassionate, patient-centered, professional, and truly caring. Because if you handle patients as unprofessionally as you handle them before an appointment, I can imagine how bad it would be after.

I found Dr. Kelly through numerous referrals years ago, and he not only was an incredible doctor, but created the technology for the sono ultrasound. He has since retired and the new Doctor Who took over creates an amazing environment. I was greeted at the door with love, gentleness, presents, and simplicity in checking in. The ultrasound tech was funny, warm and made the experience wonderful. In this day and age finding a place where you're treated with respect and warmth, especially in the medical field is an unbelievable and rare gift and something I feel very grateful for experiencing.

I received my test results via their portal in only a couple of hours. I will definitely return for all future imaging.

UMIH OF CENTURY CITY:…read more Unfortunately, I have had the need for multiple MRI's, an ultrasound and a mammogram all within the past year alone. Fortunately, I found UMIH of Century City! I realize there are multiple UMIH locations in Los Angeles County to choose from, and I am not here to say that the other UMIH locations are bad. (plus, I've only been to one other UMIH location). What I am here to say is that UMIH Century City is in a class of their own! It was necessary for me to go to them, (instead of the UMIH location closer to my home), because they had the ability to perform an ultrasound and a mammogram ~ in addition to MRI's ~ of which I needed both. My slight annoyance (from having to drive further) and my general anxiety surrounding such things... started to disappear almost instantly when I was genuinely & warmly greeted by the front desk staff, Reina & Leslie. True gems who epitomized the perfect balance between welcoming & professional!! My MRI Tech, Soheila, was a continuation of the warm, kind and professional excellence of the front desk staff, plus she brought it up a notch with her seasoned skills, knowledge and her ability to get clear images by helping me feel as calm & comfortable as possible! One of my MRI's required a dye contrast to be injected into my vein half way through my total time in the machine. I barely felt anything when Soheila did this... a true pro!!! Long story long, I would drive across town in LA traffic, past multiple UMIH locations for UMIH, Century City for the staff alone!! He said he was "sorry". sorry doesn't pay for the time and money spent going back there. They should offer to return the ID by courier. when I called back I got the scheduling department who refused to give me a name to write a letter to complain to then procrededto to blame me for "forgetting to ask for it back" Handing over valid identification and not returning it then pivoting to blame the customer is a violation of trust. When you get your scan done there ask yourself what other things might the staff there so casually disregard. People at medical front desks need to be professional and take their jobs seriously. I see lots of doctors and get lots of scan and never once was my ID KEPT without returning it. I was there another 20 minutes doing the scan but the place is not laid out so that I would pass the front desk, when finished, from wkat I can tell he left the voice mail while I saw as getting scaneed and was too lazy to get up and walk over to the technician and say he still had my ID. When the scan is over your not thinking about paperwork and IDs so accusing the customer of being the one who "forgot" is highly unprofessional and rude. They should emphatically take responsibility and return what they so casually disregarded. If they had called.and emphatically aplgized for not returning it rather than putting it on me I my reaction would have been far more accepting I will never accept a referral there ever again.

[Price]: $1,199 for the Core scan (45 minutes focusing on images from the head to mid-thigh), $2,499 for the Comprehensive scan (60 minutes for a Whole Body Scan), and $3,999 for the Executive scan (75 minutes for a Whole Body Scan + Body Composition Analysis + Advanced Brain Health Scan). All options also include blood panel tests and one review with a Prenuvo provider after the initial scan and lab. Once in a while, Prenuvo offers additional discounts on Father's Day or Mother's Day so keep an eye out for those. [Parking]: There is an underground parking garage attached to the building at the corner of Wilshire & Bundy. It opens at 7 AM but is closed on weekends and holidays. There is no parking validation and the rate to park is $30.40. On weekends, street or metered parking will be the best option. [Preparation]: Before the actual scheduled scan, visitors will need to (1) complete a medical intake form 72 hours prior to the appointment, (2) schedule a blood draw through Quest and complete it within 10 business days of the scheduled scan, (3) fast for 4 hours prior to the appointment time, and (4) arrive at the clinic 30 minutes before the appointment time. To my surprise, you can actually book a Saturday appointment so there is no need to skip work for those who work Monday to Friday. [Process]: I had a Comprehensive scan and the entire visit lasted approximately 75 minutes from check-in to leaving the building. The staff was friendly and guided me to a locker to store all my personal items and provided a hospital gown. Right before stepping into the MRI machine, there is a metal detection process. Right before the scan, the MRI technologist will ask whether you want to watch a Netflix show or listen to music. Unfortunately, I need my glasses to see so I could not really see the screen well. They use something similar to a VR headset to view Netflix, so if you get nauseous from using VR headset then it is best to just stick with music. While inside of the machine, I simply followed the instructions to breathe in, breathe out, and hold my breath. I was also offered both earplugs and a headset and glad I took them (the machine can get fairly loud). The position I was in while inside the machine was not super comfortable, but I was able to complete the whole session without any hiccups. Free drinks and snacks were available at the front desk. [After the visit]: The MRI results were supposed to be ready in 3-4 weeks, but to my surprise my results were ready in 1 week. I was able to schedule a virtual post-scan consultation with a nurse practitioner from Prenuvo and it was quite a helpful session. The nurse practitioner walked through every key section of the reports and was ready to answer any questions that I had. [Conclusion]: While expensive, I learned more about my own health from this one screening than any annual checkup I have ever had. It also gives me a little more control and allows myself to be my own advocate for my health. I do wish the blood panel could be more comprehensive rather than just a basic metabolic panel.

I got a head to knee scan. Took only 45 minutes…read more When you check in you are greeted by a wonderful front desk staff check in takes about 5 minutes. (You do not have to arrive 30 minutes early). They will ask you if you want to listen to music or watch Netflix. Choose Netflix because the machine is really loud. I can't imagine being able to hear music over the equipment. Netflix has closed captions. When they take you back you are taken to a private dressing room where you are given scrubs, a sports bra and some foot covers. It's very private and secure. In fact the door locks are programmed with the last four numbers of your phone number. The equipment is magnetic so they will test you for metal before they let you near the rooms where the exams are done. When I was finishes they offered me an assortment of snacks from chips to protein shakes to lunchables. Everyone was quite friendly and kind. I had a clothing mishap and they happily let me keep part of their garment on without charge. The quality of care was exceptional. The cost is a little pricey. $2,000 and up but id it saves your life it's worth the money.

Then, all of a sudden, it was ruled 'indeterminate' here while the doctor tried to sell me on a costly molecular test, to justify billing my insurance over $6,000 for it. I suspect it was not even needed, and I have reason to believe the results were skewed into a gray area to justify this exorbitant billing of my insurance, and potentially a financial incentive the provider received for this test. I also very likely was enrolled in an 'observational' clinical trial without consent with my genetic data. That is not okay (especially because even de-identified data is senstive PII when it involves genetic material). Despite revoking consent, these people pushed me to go forward with the test. I almost was coerced into an unnecessary surgery that would have been life altering. This has left me with worsened PTSD, and, as a result, I will not be returning to UCLA health. Stay far away at all costs. Rude front desk staff as well, talked down to me like I was a 5 year old. I am sickened and forever traumatized by this experience. People need to know this, look at the other abysmal reviews for UCLA health facilities. It is a cold bureaucracy that, at most times, doesn't even hide that they don't care about you.

You come in and you sign up and then there is a screen just like the screen at the DMV, although the wait isn't that long usually. I have been here multiple times for myself and my mother and I have to say everybody is always usually very pleasant. It's run very efficiently and the waiting room is comfortable with plenty of seating. Finally, UCLA did something right. I wish other UCLA departments were as easy and is efficient.

There can be hiccups though and if you are new here, be aware: If you don't have prominent veins, decline to have a new trainee draw your blood unless you're able to tolerate more than one poke. Try to get here as early as possible, like between 6:00 am - 7:00 am. This will enable you to park easily, especially if you use the Gayley St. entrance. If you happen to use the Westwood entrance, try to locate the 200 building parking area. Bring your cell phone. Check in at the kiosk keypad near the entrance to suite 145. You will be called twice, first to register at one of the three front windows, then at one of the blood draw stations that are through the door into the back room lab area. If you are not able to come early, your wait time after checking in may be up to 45 minutes. Parking becomes more difficult, just head to the lowest level and there are usually spots at the remote back end. When leaving the parking area try to chose an exit lane without a vehicle as many people have difficulty using their credit card in the machine for some reason or another. This can make for a lengthy delay in getting out of there.
