This was a very dirty vicinity. I would never recommend going to this place ever again. The only reason I came back to the store is to return my frozen water jugs that they gave me. All the tanks were dirty. The workers made me feel unsafe and they were a little creepy. I buy fish, shrimp, aquatic plants, wood, products to help my tanks thrive and R/O water from Mike, Josh, Mason and other employees all are helpful. I have been to over 11 different aquatic stores in Minnesota over the years that are not BIG stores like Petco and this one is a store I would suggest to anyone. I was introduced to Mike through a fellow hobbyist, best thing that could've happened to me. Mike and his staff have guided me through the process of buying and setting up my first saltwater/reef tank. Both Josh and Mason have been to my home several times throughout the past few weeks. I love their enthusiasm and appreciate their knowledge. They are always willing to answer my questions no matter how elementary. if you're looking to get into the hobby, I recommend you stop and talk to the folks at Wet World, you will not be disappointed. That being said, if you're looking A designer shop with neon lights and all the glitz, this probably is not a place for you. It's awful. I went there for blackworms for my axolotls, which they don't usually have. I was in there tonight and the owner told me you can feed axolotls pinkies. No you can't! The axolotl would likely die after just one pinkie. He argued with me and said I was wrong. He also told me blood worms are a great staple diet for axolotls. They sell axolotls there, which they haven't had in a while but have confirmed they still intend to. Previously, they sold them in horrible conditions. No hides, warm water, missing limbs, etc. Their last one ended up with a sign saying it has been rescued and was rehabbing. This store is awful in so many ways. They put betas in all of their tanks with aggressive fish who eat them to death. Tonight, they had African clawed frogs in the same tank as African dwarf frogs. Most of the ADFs were laying upside down at the bottom of the tank dead. The owner, Mike, then insisted they can be in the same tank and it wasn't their fault they were dead Half of their tanks, at least, have multiple dead fish in them. The customer service is HORRIBLE! They will sit and completely ignore customers. They talk crap about each other and the shady stuff the business does. I may have to drive farther now for my blackworms, but it's worth it to never give this place my money again read more

I used to love this place. It's a nice location with nice employees but it definitely has gone down hill. They charge ridiculous prices (25 bucks for A common guppy) Half the tanks have ick and their is no not for sale sign on them so I'm sure poor customers are bringing ick into their tanks. Definitely the best selection of fish and products I have seen around the twin cities that isn't wholesale. The staff really care about their customers and want to help out in any way possible. I appreciated the patience of the staff while selecting what I wanted. I have observed the best care of betta fish I have seen! They are in tanks with other types of fish- unlike most "generic" pet stores where they are trapped in small containers. It made me happy to see the fish be able to actually swim and interact with their surroundings. Also, a great place to go and check out the selection. I could watch the sting rays all day! read more

First time visitor went into store with questions on freshwater fish diseases and expanding fish diet. Mike (owner) was very helpful in spending time answering all my questions. The antibiotics I purchased eradicated the issue from my tank. The fish are loving the new Bug Bites and food from the frozen section. Over priced. I bought a 17.6 lbs for around $65 . Chewy has sales going for $38 and it's much cheaper elsewhere. He sells one baby cherry shrimp for $12.99. Driftwood is over $20 for a thin 7" piece. Dead fishes in some of the tanks. I came here three times giving it a shot but I'm not going to spend so much money because they think I have little to no knowledge about aquariums and the price of things. read more

Should be renamed, "Ich World". Bought a Koran angelfish from there last Thursday for $100 and he died 4 days later after infecting the rest of my tank with ich. The owner, Michael was kind when I first called and claimed he would "make it right" as long as I brought water and my dead fish in a bag to show him (first red flag). I got there in the afternoon with a sample of my water and a picture of my fish because Marty (Koran angelfish) already had his funeral which was hard enough. Michael (owner) tested my water with his refractometer and made sure to show me. My response, "whaaaaaat?? This isn't my water." Michael, "just kidding I wanted to show you what it should be." He tried to trick me? My salinity was actually 1.021 since I was trying to eradicate the parasite his fish brought into the tank which he claimed was too low due to his profound lack of knowledge of hyposalinity. He also bashed my fish saying I got them from a place that uses copper even though he recommended curpramine (seachem with copper) for treating ich and claimed that's why my other fish were fine. "Were" fine until buying one from his slop. Additionally, he asked, "how did you acclimate the Koran before putting him in your tank??!" with a stupid look on his face like he's the fish god. My response, "drip bucket for 6 hours or so - didn't want put him into shock." Michael (owner), "that was your first mistake! You can't have a fish sitting in a bucket for that long it'll get way to cold." I told him I had a heater in the bucket while also raising my eyebrows and accepting Michael (owner) wasn't going to do anything about it. At that point, my response to Michael (before I knew he owned the place), "do you own this place, what's your name?" "Yes, I own this place my name is Michael." Me, "nice to meet you Michael (handshake), good luck with your business". The girl behind the register smirked (his subordinate) and two other customers left right after me. As a corporate employee myself, I know and trust karma will get him because, "bad ownership/management will kill a business." Unfortunately his business will kill a lot of fish too until he flops on a table like the rest of them. Michael is not someone I would trust with any fish even though his subordinates know everything there is to know about them. GO TO A World of Fish in Richfield (Michael's employees included). TRUST ME. Get out of there and never look back. Smart/kind people know fish too, and good always trumps evil. If you're reading this Michael - remember me as the one who finally stuck up for your customers/employees. They have good healthy fish and a large inventory. This is a definite plus! The aquariums and assorted equipment are certainly great as well. Most times the employees are knowledgable, helpful and will take the time to answer all of your questions even if you are new to the hobby. After all, if we stick with the hobby you would think we would come back more and more. Other times, one particular employee is irritable and downright rude. He wouldn't sell me the fish till I got a water sample and brought it in because he said he didn't want the fish to do if my water was no good . it had been a long time since I was at wet world. although small, they are equally geared to freshwater and saltwater livestock. I went in to browse mainly. I was a bit surprised that I was not greeted once while in the store over 20 minutes. I understand if someones in the middle of something, but there were moments where an acknowledgement of my presence could have been made. I find most fish stores a bit messy, even dirty.... this one was in the average range. a lot of items didn't have price tags on them. a bit confusing. once the staff knew I was there, one could tell they liked what they did, are were pleasant enough to answer questions. the prices on fish from what I've seen elsewhere are actually very good. if you want a decent, small neighborhood type specialty store...this would be fine. if looking for more of an experience and better selections, I'd likely try a larger independent fish store. read more

First trip to the store for my FIRST saltwater fish! Mike was great - very patient and helpful. I left with a beautiful pair of clowns (the second pair I picked - he was nice enough to swap them out for the first pair I already picked and had bagged...most annoying customer ever!). Even though I showed up at the end of the business day, Mike was willing to hang out and help me through the process. Overpriced on almost everything especially frozen food. Be watching out for aiptasia and other hitchhiker if you ever get livestock from this place. I've been dealing with that ever since. And the owner is gladly sell me Aiptasia-x after we've mentioned that we got them from his tank. One of the store display tanks have at least visible 20+ large aptesia. Often see dead fish in the tank (on at least 3 visits) and not being removed. And don't bother to make a phone call to this place because they NEVER pick up the phone!!! If you absolutely need something that Petco or Petsmart doesn't have, then you sh*t out of luck to find out except making a drive there, wait for 20+ mins until they're ready to assist you, just to find out they actually don't have it either or sold out. Would've been easy and done in 2 minutes over the phone rather to waste your gas and your time. I try to do business elsewhere but on occasion I really need something only LFS would have. read more
