COVID-19 TAKEOUT: Dog Bites | $7.49 (located next to Barry's Bootcamp at the Macy*s Wing)
    Cherylynn N.

COVID-19 TAKEOUT Shopping gets exhausting in one of the most bougiest shopping malls in America where you can easily max out all your credit cards in one transaction. Looking for a $3k face cream, a $7k bed frame, or a $20k handbag, you'll find it here. Welp, not in my lifetime...I come to Stanford Shopping Center to window shop and dog watch. If you're in need for some PA "affordable" sustenance to shop until you drop (or window shop and dog watch like me), Wetzel's Pretzels got your back with warm buttered carbs. During COVID, Wetzel's Pretzels has opened a new location inside Stanford Shopping Center near the Macy*s wing. It's a chain so no surprises, the Dog Bites ($7.49) were warm, soft, and a very salty processed snack. Seems like my batch had been sitting in the warmer for some time and several of the dogs were kinda burnt. Getting a fresh batch depends on your luck with timing. I might not be rich but my mouff felt like it from the rich butteryness of the pretzel bites. And, I felt less of a heffer eating them since Barry's Bootcamp next door is closed during COVID. Life is short, enjoy your carbs!

Not good at all. Was very dry and disappointing, not fresh like I remember the pretzels used to be.

I stopped in to Esther's for a late lunch today. I've lived in the area for 26 years and for some…read morereason this is my first time here. This is such a quaint and charming little spot. The owners were lovely. It's now owned and run by a Latino couple. They told me they purchased the place about 4 years ago. I ordered the bratwurst in a bun (I chose the polish sausage) and a side of potato salad. The total for the two came to $20.10. The polish sausage was good, the pretzel bun was delicious. I actually sliced up the sausage and ate the sausage and bun separately dipping both in the German mustard. The mustard was the star of the plate! It was absolutely fantastic. The potato salad was supposed to be a traditional German potato salad (made without mayo) but it was very runny and had no flavor. More like bland runny mashed potato's (but with no butter or cream) with lumps of potatoes in it. It was $5.95. I would suggest to pass on this item. I couldn't leave without trying dessert so I tried the almond lemon torte and a berry cream cake. The cake was a very light sponge cake with whipped cream filling. The lemon torte with the light almond crust was delicious. I would highly recommend! The two items came to a total of $17.90. The breakfast seems to be pretty popular and looking at the menu I can see why. I'll be back again to try some of the breakfast items and a few items I noticed on the lunch/dinner menu. (And I really want to try one of their large pretzels, made in house, with that delicious German mustard)

The food is adequate. The staff are really great…read more It's a fine little sandwich shop. They could source some better quality bread (now that the bakery portion has closed). I got the curry wurst which was good, but said it came with "German bread"... it was whole wheat buttered toast like from a grocery store... and not even a baguette freshly sliced, which would've been a better option than pre-sliced sandwich bread... My son got the Black Forest ham sandwich. He devoured his sandwich and enjoyed the Remoulade dressing on the sandwich.

I've come multiple times, solo, and with friends, and I've never had a bad experience. The service has always been consistent in the way that this establishment always take care of their guests. Every guest around you is always having a good time. This is a key component that you want to experience in a restaurant setting. Masha took care of me today (and multiple other customers at the same time.) I observed and received nothing short of what is expected in a restaurant setting in Mountain View on Castro Street: Quality service, and great suggestions. I think guests sometimes overlook the novelty of being able to enjoy your time in the establishment you choose to dine at. Folks seem to be in such a rush these days. It's nice to slow down and enjoy the sunshine and hustle/bustle of the world around while enjoying a quality meal and some sunshine or indoors while letting the wind sweep your table top. P.s. if you ever have some issues with your experience--talk to the staff. Don't leave a low quality yelp review. It doesn't help anything besides, perhaps, one's self esteem.

Fun beer garden with a nice outdoor area, a popcorn machine, Happy Hours, and trivia on Wednesdays!…read moreI arrived with my gal pal during happy hour to snack on some bites and have a beer. It was a sunny day and the weather was beautiful (but slightly hot), luckily we got a table as there were reserved seats around us. For happy hour, we got their happy hour sampler which included, 2 spaetzle cheese balls, a pretzel with sweet mustard, pickled veggies, and a cheese sausage/brat wrapped in pastry dough. We also ordered some jager fries (fries with mushroom gravy/jager sauce, cheese, and green onions). The wrapped sausage was the standout! We also ordered two half liter beers - I love the selection of German beers and local beers. This being a biergarten, of course we went German. Overall, a beautiful way to spend an afternoon! I would definitely try non-happy hour menu items and try to make my way down their beer list.
