Today marked my 3rd time coming to See's Candies at this location. My brother-in-law loves See's Candies, mainly the Almond Clusters. Service was always good here. For my today's visit, I was served by Ximena. She offered me some peanut chocolate sample which I graciously declined. Nuts plus chocolates are not really my thing. I told her I needed 1/2lb of almond clusters and she asked me "milk or dark?" I went ... :O Did my sister ever tell me there is a milk and dark version ? It was 3am the other side of the world so I was not going to text my sister about this. Besides, I did not think she would respond to my text. In the end I told Ximena let's do 1/2 milk and 1/2 dark. Ximena gave me an option of lavender or black & white packaging. I chose the lavender of cos. She was very sweet and gave me a tiny packet of chocolate samples. I'll start by saying that See's is my favorite chocolate ever, so anything you'll buy here or at any See's location is great. This location is kind of a bummer to come here because the employees always seem so unhappy! Stanford Shopping Center is such a fun and bright place to walk around and shop at, but every time I walk into this See's location, that upbeat feeling immediately goes away. The employees definitely aren't rude, but just seem exhausted or sad? It sounds like a bizarre observation but I've been here several times over the last few years and it always seems to be the same experience, and I'd honestly rather just drive to another location just to not get bummed out. 08-01-25 Didn't really feel like a valued customer. We got greeted as we entered. There were two employees that I saw behind the counter. The female employee went to the back while Jefferson G. Helped the customers in the lobby. While shopping we saw a seasonal candy package "strawberry shortcake bites". We wanted to try a sample before committing a box. Jefferson offered us a sample. We requested a sample of the strawberry shortcake bites and he apologized saying they were not available for sampling. We did not want to try anything else. I figured a box of strawberry shortcake bites only cost $10.00. It didn't seem like those seasonal candies were moving that fast. Anyways I would have pop one of those boxes open and offered the customer a sample. Then I would have the rest of them to offer to others in an attempt to push the strawberry shortcake bites. While waiting at the register to make our purchase the phone rang. Jefferson answered the phone and began check orders while leaving customers waiting and watching him on the phone. About four minutes later Jefferson finally persuaded the caller to call back or he would call him back. A line of three customers began to form. The whole time the other employee never came out so I'm assuming she was on break. After Jefferson rang us up he ask us if there was anything else we wanted. We told him we are interested in buying the strawberry shortcake bites but with out samples we will pass. Seems customer service has gone downhill. I noticed this in other businesses too. I love candy shops, so as soon as I saw See's Candies at Stanford Downtown, I knew I had to go in. Like usual, there was a wide selection of chocolates, and one of the employees walked around offering samples of different chocolates. I got a caramel and milk chocolate truffle, which were obviously really good. I decided to buy two white chocolate truffles with fruity fillings, which came to about 3 dollars but were so good I devoured them within seconds of coming out of the store. That also means I didn't get pictures, but I really don't think they're necessary because all the chocolates at See's Candies look scrumptious and I would totally recommend it! read more

We came here and got some candy. But my husband got something. My problem was that I got a sample and it was so dry that I couldn't finish it. We got a truffle - with a fruit center - which my husband loves. I don't, but I took the mocha one. Creamy wasn't going to do it. This center tasted like saw dust. It was horrible. I have never, ever had that happen. So the problem? This is the Stanford Shopping Center! I had high expectations and was wondering what was going on. Had I not seen the person go into the drawer, the same drawer that the samples come from, I would have assumed that they picked it up off the floor or trash bin. I have never been so disappointed in a free sample in my life! Never, ever, again. And my picture? This is from my excitement upon entering. I always get stellar service here. It's become the place I like to visit at the end of my shopping trip in this mall. They're always offering free samples and once I get that taste of chocolate I buy something either for myself or for others. For friends who eat less sugar, I always get treats from here. I am a HUGE fan of the See's sugar free chocolate and candies. I have tried SO many different keto chocolates and See's, by far, does it the best, even better than Lily's. This location has a good selection of sugar free candies that I buy for celebrations and for everyday treats. Would recommend checking this store out! read more

Located in the Stanford shopping center, easy to find just follow the amazing smell of chocolate! The shop may be small but it's super cute and filled with lo'ts of different options. I loved that they offered different package sizes. Service was friendly, immediately greeted as we walked in the door. I bought a bag of the butterscotch squares and pecan clusters. Sees is always a welcoming place to visit . Fridays at 10am are the best time to go, as the chocolate is fresh and delicious. Araceli, one of the staff members, is very knowledgeable and answered all my questions. The chocolate are rich and satisfying, making every visit a treat. See's is a classic must go chocolate store. Great for gift giving, especially during the holidays. I came here on a Friday afternoon and the store was quite busy! You have the option of creating your own box of chocolates, or buying pre assembled boxes. I knocked down a star since they are on the pricier side at around 28 dollars a pound, but they are worth it to many chocolate lovers in my family. 11-03-2023 was not one of their better days. Complete 180 of the service we are normally offered. Surprisingly the store manager was helping us named Ximena. We walked in and were not greeted. We selected $96.00 worth of delicious treats and headed towards the counter. We had been browsing for five minutes and no one offered any of us shoppers any samples to try. There were about six other persons shopping. Ximena saw us walking towards the counter and asked if we wanted something from the counter. We replied no and wanted to pay for our items. Ximena said if you do not want anything from here go to the other register. My wife and I looked at each other and said, "WOW" Then how about offering us a sample. We were directed to the other register. While that register was busy Ximena Now offered to help us at the register at the counter. While she rang us up we brought up the fact no one has offered us a sample. Ximena still just rang us up then gave us out total. Finally, some young lady reached over the counter and offered us a delicious candy treat. If I owned this See's Candies, I would rethink having this manager represent my store. read more

See's Candy is another example of a business that I used to think was one of the best... but then I moved to San Francisco and discovered XOXO and other smaller, cuter, more delicious chocolatiers. Went here just now to purchase jelly beans for my daughter. Total was $5.25. I gave the cashier $100.25 and she gave me back $94.50. I told her it was supposed to be $95 since I gave her $100.25. Sarah then stepped in and she had to close the store to go in the back to recount. She came back 5mins later n said the money they had was right and that I did not give the cashier $125. I told her I gave her $100.25, not $125 (my friend heard and asked her who would give $125 for a $5.25 candy bag). Sarah then got rude and said "ohh so she's only sort $0.25" and then went behind the counter and gave me $0.25 and said "someone left $0.25 here, you can have it". Wtf was that all about? We walked into See's Candies hoping for a bathroom (thanks a lot, Bestroom). No bathroom to be found, but we were handed-- with a smile-- an ENTIRE TRUFFLE APIECE, pineapple and dark chocolate flavored. Oh. My. Goodness. One bite and we were promising to come back to buy some. We went to the Starbuck's around the corner for a bathroom, discussing the whole way the flavors in our mouth, and how much we hoped they would never leave. We re-entered See's, to the cashier's surprise. "We said we'd come back," we guilelessly reminded her. "You don't know how often I've heard that before," she bitterly remarked, not quite under her breath. We asked if we could buy two 6-pack boxes of the pineapple truffles, and were told no, that they only sold packs of 12. We debated whether it was worth it anyway, since we had two presents to give, and handing two people who live alone a pack of 12 truffles seemed almost like a passive-aggressive comment on their weight. Finally, we settled on getting a 12-pack and dividing them later ourselves. Cheerfully, still on a sugar high, we suggested they start stocking 6-pack boxes. "I don't think so," the cashier sneered. "We sell more this way." What the heck? Why be ruder and ruder to the customer the closer and closer you get to ringing them up? The pineapple truffles were just too good, I guess... *COVID review* We stopped by here to pick up a box of marzipan for my mom on a weekday afternoon. They have a limit of three people in the store at a time (not three parties). There was a very nice woman outside monitoring the entrance. When I got there I was the only one waiting outside, but I can image there gets to be quite a line on weekends, especially as we get closer to Christmas. I'd suggest having one person go in to pick up your order, otherwise it's one less person that can go in. It was fine when we were there - I don't know what they will do if it's raining, since Stanford is an outside mall. As with most of the See's I've been in, the store is very clean and roomy. The girls behind the counter and at the register were very nice and efficient. Plus I got my free piece of chocolate. They have a lot of pre-packaged boxes for the holidays, so you can just pick them up and go, but of course if you are mixing a custom box it might be a while. read more

My love affair with these sweet, sweet chocolates began in elementary school when a grandmotherly elder lady dressed in the traditional white See's outfit, came into my 3rd grade class and demonstrated how to make chocolate bonbons to us! She swirled the milk chocolate with her hands on a large metal sheet, and then dipped different things in it, I remember walnuts and marshmallows but I am sure there were more. Then we each got to go to the front of the room and pick out a piece to sample! For a mini-gourmand as I was, this was heaven! Fast forward to today, and I still get that goofy little kid feeling of "Whee! Free sample!" each time I walk into a See's store. And they know what they are doing....no one can have just one! Great customer service!!! I walked in wondering what a Bordeaux chocolate sprinkled bar by the door was and the associate immediately gave me an individual piece to taste. It was delicious and I really appreciated that she thought to give me one instead of attempt to describe it.
