Seated promptly for our reservation but sadly this was the best part of our experience. This restaurant has only been open 5 months so I am hoping my comments will be taken as suggestions for the owners/management, as I'd love to see this restaurant flourish. Service was slow (granted, they were busy), and not as attentive as it should have been. Our drinks went empty more than once and the wait for our food and to receive our check were equally long. We were seated in a section that was too well lit and had no music, a TV on mute and no ambience. In other words - it was boring and completely lacklustre. While the decor in the restaurant is interesting, it would go a long way to have some ambiance. Work on diming the lights a bit and for goodness sake, it's an Irish pub - pipe in some music so those dining can enjoy it! Food was really mediocre. Shepherds pie is usually a specialty in an Irish restaurant and we had high hopes, but this one lacked seasoning and flavor. I asked to have my fries (chips) which were served as a side to my pub slider entree, upgraded to the "pub" chips, but the server said they couldn't do that because their system didn't allow for it. Really? Charge me $5 more and make it happen! That is what service is all about. We enjoyed the mac and cheese and the nice draft beer list. Upon leaving, I checked out the upstairs Listening Room which is where live music was to have been from 7-10pm, but no one was playing at the time and the room was sooo well lit! Again, AMBIENCE!! Hope that the Wexford Pub will incorporate some tweaks. Potential is there but just not a place I want to return to with so many other fantastic choices within walking distance. This is the American version of French fries. You have to try the chips with sea salt and vinegar. You won't be disappointed. Ambiance and Service were good. ordered Dirty Chips (~nacho like using fries), arrived with fried cold. It was replaced. Pretty good Ordered FishWich -Fish sandwich with flounder, cheese and coleslaw on a roll with a side. Possibly the worst fish sandwich I've eaten. It didn't taste bad, it hardly tasted of anything except a mediocre coleslaw. Unless they rebuild this sandwich avoid like the plague unless you like booooooooring. Rest of meal was ok. Had to send corn beef back, cod was extremely salty, veggie Ruben should have portobello mushroom it was missing. Seems like a consistency issue in kitchen. Service was great. The prices were great. I can't say enough about the service we had. Top notch and very accommodating. The had nightly music sessions too. Highly recommend this place. However the response of "I don't want people to pretend they are my friend or shout my name from across the bar like we know each other" is the response when you ask the barkeep his name and ask why he isn't wearing a name tag, leaves little to be desired. Maybe it's because it is the tourist area of Savannah but would be nice to be treated like they are happy I am there would be nice. We came for the "Eat it burger bash" really looking for a good time. Again food and atmosphere is top notch, just wish it meant as much to the staff that we were there as it meant to us to be there. As she took some time I became suspicious that she was about to send us upstairs--3 of 5 of us have mobility and health issues. For entrees we ordered Chicken Pub Pie with wee salad, Fish and chips (cod and fries), Corned Beef and Cabbage. No complaints from anyone! All were tasty and ample servings. Service was terrific. My wife and I went into the very heavily staffed Wexford on a Saturday afternoon and sat at the bar upstairs. After almost 10 minutes of sitting there without being acknowledged, we just left. Although several employees walked by us, including the bartender who only had 3 other parties at that bar, not a single person said hello or told us they would be right with us. Honestly, it was just weird to be completely ignored. It made me question my existence along with my restaurant choices.
