I have had to rely on stores like HomeGoods for kitchen gadgets, flower pots, garden stuff, sheets, towels, etc, since Tuesday Morning closed their stores. HomeSense has a large selection of furniture, lamps, art, and other accessories, as well as kitchenware. This particular time, I was on a mission. I needed a fabric-covered lidded box in navy and white. The search had so far proved fruitless. Marshall's had one box, in sage green with peach flowers. I went to HomeSense, and they had a blue and white lidded box! They also had gluten-free Italian pasta! I looked at the framed art, because I need a frame (not art) in a particular size for a canvas painting, but there wasn't one in the size that I needed. It's generally less expensive to buy framed art on clearance, keep the frame, and donate the art, than it is to buy an empty frame elsewhere. Strange but true. On a previous visit, I found two battery-operated wall sconces, which were exactly what I needed for my dining room. I also found some pink flamingo things, which were inexpensive and irresistible. I was also looking for one tier curtain, but they only had floral sets. I may have to sew one myself. They did have a huge selection of curtain panels. I spoke with one associate and the cashier, and they were both very pleasant. Prices are generally very reasonable, and they usually have a great selection of almost everything. It's similar to HomeGoods, but has much more furniture and lamps. There were some beautiful leather club chairs, which I may be able to use in the future. Hopefully they'll have some when I go back.

It's hit or miss and requires multiple visits to find things that fit the bill. As far as I'm concerned, spending time in a store like this is like being consigned to one of Dante's circles of hell. I'm not the target audience, though. If you like cruising and schmoozing and are patient, go for it. They should have a husband's area that serves stiff drinks and shows sports on big screen TVs.

Today, I asked an associate a simple question about the location of an item in the store. She could not be bothered to stop her task to help. She told me it was in the storage department but did not stop her task to show me specifically where. When I returned, and asked for help a second time, she ignored me when I said, "Excuse me," and then got angry, snotty and aggressive when I addressed her again. She must have realized how in the wrong she was because she then began following me! The manager on duty said she would address the situation, but I'm afraid I won't be back to shop in this store. I would rather drive a little further to a store where the staff are friendly, kind and helpful rather than nasty and disrespectful. My son and I went into this store to treat ourselves today--and left feeling sad and unwelcome. Home Goods--you lost a regular customer, today. I hope your staff can learn to leave their personal issues at the door and come in to work with positive attitudes in the future.

This is really the store to go to for main furnishings, not just decorative. But they do have incredible holiday/seasonal decorations. If you certainly do the heavy lifting and bring the large items home yourself but they also contract out to a third party that you can arrange for pick up and delivery too. This store has beautiful mirrors and wall art too. It's easier to find multiple pieces of things here, unlike homegoods where you'll find only one. So things like matching chairs, wall art, mirrors, lamps that you need multiples of, this is where to go.

It took over ye old Toys R Us location in Carle Place so you know the ceilings are high. For such a big place, the aisles could have been wider, especially considering they opened during the pandemic where we all need s p a c e. However, they have a lot of great things and if the checkout line wasn't long (everyone is so excited about this new place so they were all here), I probably would have chucked a few things in the basket to check out. Granted I just made an expensive laptop purchase so I'm grateful I didn't check out things here to give my wallet a little breather. It's definitely one of the go-to places I will check when needing homewares.

I recently bought one pair of curtains there to try them out in my bedroom. My husband and I really liked them so I needed to go back to buy 3 more. When I went the first time, they were going through inventory and the curtains were not out on the floor. I asked an employee if there were any in the back. He said "Yeah but because of inventory we can't get them. I can't go in the back cause it'll be in a box somewhere. Come back next week." I was a bit perplexed - so you refuse to sell me curtains because of inventory? I've done inventory with stores before and I've never heard of this. Such a wasted trip. So I call the store a week and a half later to ask - the employee goes to the curtain dept to look for them. I try to give her the UPC# but she doesn't want it, she's looking via the description. She says "They're probably in the back and I'm not going back there. It's in a box somewhere. They're unloading a truck now so it'll be out soon." I ask why it says there are 5 in stock online? She says "Well it's probably 5 cause there's 5 in the truck coming to the store right now." Even though it has said there's 5 in stock for the past 2 weeks. So my question would be - how unorganized is it in the backroom that no employee wants to go back there to check merchandise?? Is it just me or is that crazy?
