I had been developing some back pain, hip pain and muscles that cramped and seized which were causing me to feel older than my years. I'd thought of just giving up and accepting these negative changes but they've now been reversed. When we started I was actually having to pound on my leg to try to release the tightened muscle fibers which pulled from my hip to my knee joint and down through my ankle on one side. I had worked out with trainers in the past and done a lot of weight lifting. But this is better, working with someone who is an exercise physiologist has made the difference I think. He was able to assess my situation, pinpoint my weaknesses and then design an exercise program that targets the correct muscles and it has been effective. I'm becoming much more flexible, strong and balanced and am learning how to use my body correctly. It's not something that I could have easily done on my own without the kind, encouraging and knowledgeable support. I'm excited at my progress and it's been fun. I know that really effusive reviews sound almost fake, but really, if you are a woman starting her second half of life and have hesitation about starting an exercise program, worry no more. Bettie's home gym is very well equipped (elliptical, weight bench, bands, free weights, those exercise straps that connect to the wall, etc.), it even has an actual gym floor to reduce impact. At the end of the week, she sent me comments on what I ate. Once I was reprimanded for eating the 2oz of almonds that were in my one day meal plan. Well, why were they in my "customized" one day meal plan to begin with? Curious. I received no substantive comments unless you count cliche cheerleader prompts. And the majority of the food-related comments were exactly what My Fitness Pal, a free app, already told me. Perhaps this approach works for some. But it doesn't for me which is what I wrote to her about. Instead of coming up with something customized to me, she refused to adapt the plan and just sent me more cliched lines like, "How much do you want this?", "I'm your friend." , and "trust me." Lastly, I paid $390 is advance, and was not informed there is no refund policy. After receiving 1.5 weeks of her nutrition and 1 group class, all calculated at her non-package rate of $50 a week for nutrition and $30 for one group session. That comes to $130 in services I received. Now, she refuses to refund the rest of my money, citing this post-hoc refund policy. Curious.
