I've come to this Whataburger and other Whataburger locations before, but it had been a while since I had one of their burgers. I'm a sucker for their chicken tenders! This location is very clean, and the staff is very friendly. I think it must have had a renovation recently, it looked so new and inviting! I decided to eat here last week, and I ordered a burger on their app with extra tomatoes and lettuce, and omitted onions. I like that you can modify your order on the app, however that is great only if they follow your modifications. I may have gotten the extra lettuce and tomatoes, but they definitely still had onions on my burger. No biggie, I just picked them off, but it's a little hard to do that while eating it on the go in my car. The burger was okay, I personally like my burger patty thicker and more flavorful. I stood by the online order pickup counter for close to 10 minutes waiting for them to bring out my order. Multiple employees walked by and never said one word, no "can I help you?" or "your order will be right out." Finally I went to the register and asked the guy. He goes to the back, the manager points to where my order had been sitting on a shelf, and he bags it up and brings it out. Never again. I live in Chicago, but am from the south. Whataburger is my favorite fast food burger. Hype them up to everyone i live around north. i brought some of my friends back and we went to this whataburger. An embarrassing experience for me. No ice in the vending machines. Employees in the back laughing and cutting up while people are waiting to order. Just standing around. No employee has any urgency. Food took forever to come out, fries tasted old. Girl brought our food out and didn't say anything, just dropped the bags on the table and walked away like we were a hindrance. Whataburger franchise located in Fultondale, Alabama that me and my family stopped in for lunch at on our way to Panama City beach from Lousiville. In Lousiville we do not have whataburger franchises. So anytime we get a chance to visit one we jump on the opportunity. So driving down I-65 around lunchtime we see the whataburger sign and hop of the exit here. For a Sunday evening the lobby was slammed packed. We found one table and snatched it up. While we aren't whataburger experts we have eaten at the establishments 3-4 times. So we stuck with our normal orders of whataburger meals. Unfortunately on our visit to this location they only had vanilla shakes. Which is a shame as I love their chocolate shakes. I usually just upgrade my value meal with a shake instead of a drink. In this case I just went with a diet Dr Pepper. The burgers as always were delicious. I really wish we could get some franchises in Kentucky. Maybe one day. Service here was iffy. Took a while to get downtown to man the Register. But once the manager did he was super nice and accommodating. The inside was pretty messy and tables weren't being bussed but they appeared to be short staffed and mildly busy. Overall a tasty visit. Hopefully we pass another whataburger on our week long trip through Thai area as I really want a chocolate milkshake now. read more

After being on the road for so many hours, we decided to stop and get our first Whataburger. This location is just north of Birmingham. We go up to the counter browse the menu and almost immediately know what we want. My friend got the regular Whataburger I believe and I got the Bacon Cheeseburger. I was impressed with the burger and the fries. I know it's fast food but I would pick Whataburger over McDonalds and Burger King any day, sadly we don't have a Whataburger in Kentucky. Hopefully we get one one day, my friend wasn't impressed but, I was. Meat was cooked to perfection and the fries were just right. Staff was friendly, we did wait a little because everything is made fresh. And I had no idea this place has been around since 1950. Wow. I have been to Whataburger multiple times, but I hadn't yet been to this location. That is, until today. I ordered takeout through their app, which I'll say wasn't bad but it also wasn't the most user friendly I have used. Also, it seemed to be missing a few iconic menu items (like the strawberry milkshake to my dismay). However, the workers were polite, and the restaurant was clean. The food was ready fairly quickly and the French fries were hot and salty! I got the double meat Whataburger with fries and a Coke. I would definitely come to this location again, especially if their milkshake machine comes out of hiding lol. read more

Love whataburger! We ate inside this location today and had a good experience. The bathrooms were meh, but otherwise I would recommend. Food was fresh and amazing. Employees very helpful and kind. Got our food quickly during the lunch hour on a weekend. Prices not bad at all especially compared to other similar places. Double cheeseburger is HUGE and so yummy. Whataburger Jr is closer to regular size burger you'd get at competing chains. French fries seasoned and salted very well. Whatachicken sandwich was also really good with lettuce and Mayo. Much more flavorful than competing chicken sandwiches...wish we had Whataburger in more states!! Note this location has zero sugar coke and zero sugar lemonade! Highly recommend. read more

I really enjoy using the Whataburger mobile app. It makes it super easy to customize sandwiches and burgers. They provide deals and offers in there as well as rewards based on number of visits made. I was able to switch up the honey BBQ chicken strip sandwich into a monster with lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, jalapeños, and creamy pepper sauce. It has been years since I have been to a whataburger, and decided to go after driving past it. I have to say they are not great but they are not bad, which is the reason I am giving them an "OK". I got a bacon & cheese whataburger with added jalapeños. The burger was decent almost like a any regular burger I would make at home. I really did not feel that wow factor for this burger, which could be the reason I have not been to whataburger for a while. The lettuce on the burger just seem sad, with a few pieces thrown on it, some onion chunks and a slice of tomato. The only sauce I tasted on the burger was mustard, I guess if I knew I could have told them to add Mayo if that is even an option. Maybe I will try them again when I have more time to go inside. read more

Wow, what to say about this place, so many things. Let's start with the pros: The food was fresh and tasted good, the staff was friendly-ish (I'll explain in the cons), and they fixed the issues I had with my order with no questions. Which let's be honest, mistakes happen. I just want someone to be nice and fix it when they do. The manager righted the wrong and didn't charge me for my fries. Now for the cons (which you will notice the staff doesn't have much if any control over): This location is nearly impossible to get in and out of. They don't have enough parking, and the parking they do have was blocked off by the drive-thru line while we were there. This restaurant was slammed with customers when we visited (Saturday afternoon). There were probably 15-20 employees working; I don't think they could have fit anyone else back there if they tried, but the onslaught of customers just didn't let up. The staff was doing their best to be friendly and move people through as quickly as possible, there was only so much they could do. Im sure they must have been exhausted, so I'm giving them a pass for the general frustration on some of their faces. My overall thoughts are, that I would come back, but avoid this particular location during peak times. read more

Service was absolutely atrocious. We waited 20+ minutes for two kids meals (burger & chicken strips) and two adult meals. When I went up to the counter to ask about our order status, the girl at the counter seemed less than concerned and slowly walked back into the kitchen area where she found out and informed me that they were "working on it." When we finally got our food, we looked around and saw that we were the only ones in the restaurant who had food (of about seven tables) and there were at least 10 cars waiting in the drive thru. First timer. Won't be back. Came on recommendations of others. We waited in line (we were the only ones in line at the time) for over 5 mins with no acknowledgment that we were waiting. It appeared they were having personnel issues. No one was friendly towards the customers. When they finally took our order, we had a hard time understanding the person behind the counter. We waited over 25 minutes to get our food, which turned out mostly wrong. We ordered 4 milkshakes and I had to ask for those after they delivered our food. That took another 5+ minutes. One of the burgers had so much ketchup and Mayo on it, that it was inedible. The whatachick'n bites were burnt. The buns on all 3 burgers were completely smashed. Passing through the state and decided to try Whataburger for the first time, and maybe the last. Placed my order understanding it was made to order so a bit of a wait. The quality of the food was good, but service was poor. There was a very long wait time and after finally getting our food, we sat at one of the outdoor tables. I had to go back inside 4 times due to problems with the order: no ketchup, then was given the wrong kind of ketchup, no juice boxes in the kids meal, my hamburger was missing half the toppings and my coffee was cold. At no time did anyone appologize for the problems, or offer to do anything to make up for all the issues, I just basically got a 'what do you want this time' look every time I went back inside to fix one of their mistakes. read more

Publicly Visible Trash cans = Non Visible Kitchen Trash cans We have been going to this Whataburger since it opened over a decade ago, and literally every time we pass through Fultondale we eat here. This visit, however, was different. The mess we experienced upon entry and in the bathrooms was atrocious. I believe it is a health hazard and I have included photos of the overflowing trash cans. I brought this to the attention of the manager upon arrival. He said thank you. 40 minutes later we left and it was still in this condition. Again I spoke to the manager, showed him the photo and he replied "Yes mam," then returned to the register. It is my opinion that your public trash cans reflect your kitchen. My first time at Whataburger occurred today on our way home from ATL. Chose this location because it was close to I22. Anyways, I've heard so much about this chain for years. Never lived near one. It was roughly late morning, so no lines. Took longer than normal to get my double cheeseburger, but it was so damn good! Crisp lettuce, toasted bun, fresh tomatoes. Can't ask for a better burger from a fast food chain. They are just as good as In N Out IMO. Need more locations! read more

I love Whataburger...BUT...we order burgers Plain for the kids. They came with mustard. Now when we ordered we said specifically "plain, just meat and cheese". So we took them to get remade and they argued with us. Told us that we didn't say "dry". And demanded our receipt. After 3 minutes of arguing, the lady went to see "if they could remake" the burgers. We normally love whataburger but this location has missed the Mark. Firstly it took 10 mins for someone to come to the counter to take our order. Then it took 20 mins to receive our order. You could hear the staff laughing it up in the kitchen but no one would come to the counter. Upon checking up on our order, they had just finished bagging it and reported they were waiting on the chicken strips. Which was burnt! Then again no one at the counter when we trying to request napkins, no one at the counter when we went beck to order milkshakes. We ended up going through the drive through to get someone to take our order. To top it off the tables were dirty with salt, the floor so greasy our shoes were slipping around, and the bathroom had no soap or paper towels! You know when you're really looking forward to something and then you don't get it? That was my experience at this location last night. My husband and I waited in the drive thru for at least 20 minutes before we decided to leave. The long line of at least 10 cars wrapped out of the parking lot into the street. Granted it was late at night, but watching the employees hanging out in the dining room or outside chatting just looking at all these cars while they sipped on their sodas really rubbed me the wrong way. Yes I'm a foodie so yes only I would determine where we get a hotel for the night on our way to New Orleans by googling Whataburger locations and strategically finding a hotel that is nearby. And that's exactly what I did so that I could once again taste the glory that is Whataburger on our trip down south for vacation. Having once lived in Austin, TX for 5 years I was quite familiar with the insane deliciousness of the familiar orange pyramid shaped restaurants. Sadly one tends to grow used to having such comforts and do not miss them until they can no longer have them and such is the case for Whataburger. While in Austin I only ate there every couple of months, mostly because I didn't want to abuse the hell out of fast food and was watching my weight. Well this was vacation and all bets were off. So I confidently strode into this Whataburger and ordered the triple..that's right the TRIPLE!!! with a small fries. My fiance Stefanie had never tried Whataburger before and ordered the single with a small fries. A very bland cashier who didn't seem to be all that friendly (which I didn't give a crap though to be honest, I mean I'm at freakin' Whataburger!!) took our order and gave us a number and we sit down to wait. I was very hungry and the wait seemed like 2 hours but it was actually more like 10-15 minutes. Our food arrived and I was quick to undress my burger. What a glorious, sloppy, huge mess of a burger it was. Just how I remembered..although in all my years in Austin I had never dared to order the triple...the double was the highest I had dared to fly...so I was really looking forward to this. One bite of that cheeseburger and wow, the memories, amazing how food can trigger memories but all my memories of Austin, TX came flooding back to me..good times! I went to work on that huge burger and it took a while but it was dirty (and delicious job) so someone had to do it. It was every damned bit as good as I remembered and although I did get full eating it I enjoyed that burger till the very last cheesy, messy bite. First ever What A Burger. I was quite impressed with the table service, have not seen that in a while in fast food place. Quick service for a large party, of even though this was packed at lunch time, we were quickly able to find a seat and get our meals. Service for 10 people was 60$. Staff was friendly and amicable, quick to make sure we had what we needed for our meal. Food was fresh and decent. The burgers were typical of any burger place. Fries were not my favorite but ‍. The salad with grilled chicken, cranberries and apples was good and the lettuce was fresh and crisp for fast food salad. The kids like the cookie addition to their kids meal. I enjoyed the lite lemonade option. Bathroom needed a bit of attention but again, it was the lunchtime rush so I would give it a pass! Definitely would eat here again! read more
