As we walked up to the doors, an employee that was outside (perhaps on break) greeted us with a smile and a "welcome". Once inside we noticed how clean and orderly the restaurant was. As some of our party started to order on the kiosk, a friendly employee by the name of Nickey offered to take our order: Our food came out super fast and was hot and fresh! I mentioned this to Nickey, who had delivered our food to our table. The food was delicious! Nickey even checked on us to make sure we didn't need anything. I have never tried Whataburger before and decided to swing by for lunch on a weekday. They were not particularly busy, with 2 cars in front of me in the drive-thru, but it took almost 20 minutes to get my order. That's not great when you have 30 minutes for lunch. Now I tried to give it a first time flaw when they forgot one of my burgers the last time I was there, but tonight was unheard of. Driving for hours and decide to give them another chance because it's late and I don't have other options at this hour. But to totally forget 3 items out of the 5 ordered is insanity! A Whataburger in this part of town was very much needed! There's actually a lot of new restaurants in this State Farm Parkway area. The service here is exceptional with very friendly staff too. I love the chicken tenders here and they have sauces galore. It's hard to choose what sauces I want sometimes! Their fries are delicious too. Location Location Location! Prime spot on Lakeshore drive You can't miss this new spot. Dropped by today at 6 PM and let's just say it was super busy! From a first-hand glance, lots of ample parking and great curb appeal. My friends and I were greeted with really warm hospitality and quickly ushered to the menu. The location was extremely clean and well kept. For food, I was very inclined to go for the infamous patty melt, however, I knew I should have been eating healthier so I went for the grilled chicken sandwich combo. I substituted the french fries for onion rings and got a drink. Portion sizes were great! The grilled chicken sandwich was extremely juicy and the sauce perfectly paired with it. Onion rings were fresh out of the fryer and very crispy. I personally think they could have had a little more onion in it. As for condiments, I was a little let down here. Perhaps I am a newbie at Whataburger, but typically I have no issues getting condiments for my meal. When asking for a few sauces here today, I was informed that I had to pay for them. Ok ok ok. So what had happened was!!!!! There really isn't a Whataburger on my side of town. I wanted to check the menu and ended up installing the app. It gave me a free burger which expired today so I went to get my burger. I do not line their app. An app should allow you to pay in store and method the verifies your card is not satisfactory to me. When I return, I probably won't use the app again. The servers there were nice and thanks to them my drink turned out well. The Arnold Palmer I ordered wasn't that good but a complimentary drink was nice.,This was my first time at that shop so the setup in not what I was use. I was just here today Wednesday at 2, why there were no cars in the line, still I pulled up to the menu to order and had to wait minutes for someone to greet me and place my order, so I pull around to window after placing my order and was sitting there for about 5 minutes at the window no one greeted me came to the window or anything. Super slow service and bad at taking orders. Got a burger with only cheese and ketchup. Person taking the order got so hung up on "you mean add cheese" that they left off large fries... but they sure added $1.20 worth of cheese. It's seriously such an easy job. First off, the late night drive thru worker at the Homewood location was the best.... His voice and his attitude gave the impression that he loved what he was doing. He made the whole experience from the ordering to waiting for the food worth while. His conversation between taking the money for the order and delivering the order thru the drive thru was definitely worth the wait. On top of that the food was hot and delicious. You literally have to work hard to be this consistently bad. I've given it more than 8 tries, (over several years) and at all different times, to see if it any of the myriad of bad experiences I've had (and witnessed) were "one offs." After today- I'm convinced they are not. Whoever spent money to build this place, wasted it. Whoever manages it should write a book on "what not to do" and whoever hires these consistently untrained employees should be fired on the spot. What an embarrassment to Whataburgers everywhere. The service is beyond slow, the food is almost always cold, the orders are always wrong, multiple employees take breaks (at one time) sitting among the customers while the front lines back up in disarray. The employees argue with the customers (and each other) and there is literally no one in charge running the place. The drive through is a hot, unorganized mess. (Even worse when it rains and two lanes are left open with no covering.) The paper bags with the food is soaked, as is the person bringing it to the car. This place is less than 0 and even the worst run Wendy's in Birmingham is still superior to what is found in here. Over and over and over- it wins as being the worst managed, run, operated Whataburger in the south. There's not even a close second. Yes, you have to work hard to be this consistently bad! I'm not a big fast food burger person but I've heard that Whataburger is not your ordinary fast food burger. So I decided to give it a try and I'm so happy I did! I went through the drive thru and there were employees taking orders outside. I pulled up the menu online and ordered my food. They are on a reduced menu due to just opening so they did not have cherry coke or hot apple pies. They would have gotten 10 stars but I understand. Lol. The prices that I pulled up online were not the same and my order was $10 instead of $7 online. But for what I got I was happy. The burger was HUGE and packed with flavor. The fries were amazing!!! I have to say TV, the operating partner for this location, is excellent with customer service and will fix you up! I had an order that was given to me by an employee after they verbally confirmed my name twice and it was still someone else's order. I brought this to the management's attention and TV provided me with a free meal for compensation. You can tell that he cares about customer service and is not doing it reluctantly, which I really appreciate because it was an honest mistake after all. In the fast food industry in 2024 it's hard to come by genuine characters. I will continue coming to this location because the employees are usually pretty attentive and easy to work with. Fifteen minutes to get a burger. When I went to the counter to ask about my order I was told it was in the back because they couldn't find me. Yeah, I'm easy to miss. Upon arrival I was welcomed in from a kind staff. Ordering was made easy and fast and it didn't take more than five minutes to receive my food. I ordered the patty melt meal and the sweet and spicy bacon burger meal. Both were made fresh and tasty. I couldn't even finish my meal because it was so filling, so you get a great value for the cost of a meal. We went here on Saturday evening 1/14/2023 at 8:02 pm. I am always a bit reluctant because this isn't my favorite atmosphere (it's a loud restaurant, especially when it's full of talking people) and the food is, in my opinion, not impressive. The fries are always kind of stale. Anyway, I decided I'd just get some onion rings, and my husband just ordered them on the side with his cheeseburger and shake. The cashier seemed disinterested, but took our order and all was well. Or so we thought. We went and sat down, and she walked over to a cabinet away from the order counter with some napkins. Immediately the manager (a woman in the back--never saw her face or uniform) started barking at her. I mean, she was berating her. The store was quiet then, as the large group of young folks had left, so all we could here besides the loud music was this woman just letting this very young person have it. And she was in the kitchen, so surely she saw there were customers waiting on an order. Itb was very unpleasant, and frankly, disheartening. I don't think it's right to yell at an employee like that--especially in front of customers. It shows disrespect and a miserable lack of leadership skills. I felt very bad for the young lady working the register--seemingly the only employee on the floor. Then she brought our food out. No offer of condiments was made, as they usually do here. And then I ate a =n onion ring and it was DISGUSTING. Mushy, soft, terrible tasting. Kind of like they let frozen onion rings sit on the counter for a day or two and then fried them. I did not eat another one and we threw them away. My husband's burger got a solid "ok," and his shake was fine. But I'm not planning on going back. I sent a message to Whataburger Sunday morning, mainly because it wasn't only the terrible food that upset me, but the mean spirited and lousy manager that bothered me. Plus, SHE was in the kitchen and they must have some crappy quality control if they'd let something that gross leave the kitchen. Nasty all around. My best friend experienced the worst service this morning. He ordered a bacon egg and cheese combo and when he receive the sandwich, there were onions on it. He's allergic onions and was not able to enjoy his meal. The manager, Kurt Banks, would not honor his refund request or remake his food. there's nothing like ending a night out with friends than a late-night food run and living in Alabama there really aren't that many fast food places open past 10:00 pm. Getting in the drive-thru we knew we were going to be waiting a long time before we got to place our order. After about 20 mins of waiting we finally placed our order and waited for about 12-15mins more before we got the food. I honestly did not mind the wait, while it did feel like time was dragging, it was late at night and the drive-thru line was insane.
