My son and his girlfriend always eat here when they are on their way to Wichita to visit her family. So when I was traipsing through Houston this week, I stopped by to check it out. My son claimed it was similar to our In and Out Burger chain but I don't think so. Still, the Whataburger was actually a pretty decent meal. I just got the regular hamburger and fries and enjoyed it. It reminded me of the kind of food they serve every summer at the San Diego County Fair. Really not interested in some of the fancier burger concoctions here but I heard raves about some of the burgers with interesting things on top or inside them by a seatmate on my flight. If you are adventurous and have an iron gut, I say go for it. The Whataburger is popular too. The line was substantial around lunchtime when I came through but to the eatery's credit, it moved fast. The prices are not that outrageous for an airport (food) pit stop. The employees seemed polite and efficient. I would certainly advise anyone coming through the Terminal B area at IAH to avail themselves of this good place to chill and enjoy a great burger and fries. read more

Okay so I have to start by saying what the heck was I thinking getting a burger at 9:00am?? Guess since I was up at 3:00 to fly and had no breakfast it sounded like a marvelous idea.. NOT! The prices here were pretty good and the variety of burgers certainly teased the mental palate so being a bacon lover (my breakfast justification) I thought I would try the bacon burger and enjoy a little combo of breakfast and lunch. The burger looked pretty good and came with fries and a drink. Your typical combo. The drink size was pretty big and the burger was definitely bigger than any fast food chain. So one bite was pretty good but no ketchup which I had to go back up to get. Still pretty tasty. Before I put on the ketchup I took a 2nd bite and hit something hard and super sharp. I opened the burger and found a huge piece of white plastic. The employees didn't even know where it could have come from but it was kind of mixed in with the lettuce. I just don't know how anyone could not see this when assembling the burger as it is not a small piece of plastic at all (see picture). The staff were very apologetic and mortified but no one offered to reimburse me. They did offer another burger though.. Really! I know they were trying to do their job but plastic is not on my diet list although if it were I might be more compliant with meal intake. Oh well couldn't give zero stars and staff were really nice but not a place I am going back to whether it was anyone's fault or not they need better quality control. read more

Mind you, I'm not asking for haute cuisine. Three lousy chicken fingers and fries, served up with enough speed that I am not gulping it down before my flight. 1) They were out of ice. Fine, I'll take a bottled water. 2) They were out of my brand of dipping sauce. No sweat. That happens. 3) It's the 16 minutes for chicken fingers that was the sticking point. I'm not kidding. There were umpteen employees all trading wisecracks with one another like it was a comedy routine, but it took 16 minutes to get me some chicken fingers. One guy actually came out like he was the emissary from the kitchen to tell me -- after several minutes -- that they were cooking my chicken so it would come out piping hot. In the back, I could see someone dump chicken fingers into the fry basket, as if there was a collective "Oh, Crap, we forgot order #26. Quick!" I was not fooled. Yet, in defiance of all the laws of physics, my chicken was lukewarm. And the fries had spent a lot of time under the heat lamp, too. If this were any place but an airport, I might shrug. On the off chance someone from Whataburger is reading this, when you're trying to make your connection, food service requires the split-second timing of a commando raid on U-Boat pens. As a result, I enjoyed 1.5 chicken fingers and a fistful of fries before I had to board. Ok for the good. It is great having real food after spending a moth in Angola at the Houston airport. Bravo. The good; I ordered four taquitos after a long 14 hour flight from Luanda. While the burgers may be put alongside the likes of In N Out for competition, there is no challenge. In N Out wins hands down. I will say though, that Whataburger has a much bigger beef Patty and fills you up more. That said, In N Out is much cheaper, which would allow me to just buy three burgers to fill me if need be. Stopped by here on a Southwest airline flight and had a bit of time, I found this little store a while back. I've heard the hype of people saying "Whataburger is better than In-n-out" blah blah blah, I didn't believe it and wanted to see for myself. I believe my cashier's name was Keambra. I looked to see what was good and asked since it was my first time and I ordered a honey butter biscuit. There was a line but the line moved very quickly and there was a very friendly vibe. I was able to chat a bit with the cashier and some other staff on break. It came in a togo bag and I ended up eating it on the plane. The chicken was juicy and contrasted really well to the honey and the biscuit. It didn't last long, it was so good and less than $5, I wish I ordered 2! Even though my first Whataburger experience was good, I always will be a Cali-girl at heart. I don't know if I would say what-a-burger is better but I would say it does live up to the hype in it's own right. read more

Meh on the service. Yes we are in an airport and everyone is in a hurry. On a plus the food was delivered hot and delicious!

After messed up. It took forever to be served - one cashier needed register tape (understandable) and the other was clicking out. Once I ordered, it took over ten minutes to receive my food. A whole line of people who placed orders were complaining that it was taking so long. No explanation for the delay was given. My Texas coworkers suggested this as a lunch option. I got a Whataburger, and it seemed like a Burger King wannabe. It was about the size of a Whopper, but it had no flavor. The fries were some of the worst I have had as well. Whataburger is one of my favorite burger places besides In-N-Out but as far as ordering and waiting it makes you feel like you are at In-N-Out due to the lengthy wait. However this is an excellent choice for those who don't want to eat overpriced airline food. If you have a rush for your flight, early arrival is suggested, especially if you are in another terminal besides Terminal B since taking the Skyway (IAH's version of the Plane Train is required). read more

Okay so this place was pretty busy however they managed to get my food out on a resonable amount of time which I was grateful for w/ less than an hr layover. The quality control is not what I have expierenced from whataburger in general... the lovely stickers that let u know ur special order was correct were missing. Long drive-thru line and very slow food delivery per each customer. Drive-thru server however was very friendly and polite. The food was good and fresh for a midnight run. I'm not going to elaborated much on a fast food burger joint so here goes. Not much seating here so plan on bagging it and finding a spot elsewhere to eat. Everytime I eat here going through this airport I always have a mistake with my order. I ask for whole jalepeño the put jalepeños in my burger. I ask for no onions they put onions. It's been a very long time since I had a pleasant food experience in an airport. I ordered a burger without a bun and worried they wouldn't be able to do it. They said it was no problem and served it neatly in a container with all the fixins and silverware. Fries were great. Most importantly, the service was exceptional. This Whataburger in the airport does NOT do free refills so make sure you don't get all ice like I did. Thankfully the manager charged me for a small and dumped out the ice to refill my drink, but I expected better from Whataburger.
