Wow!! This place is fun!!! The loaded garlic knots were as glorious as they look! Sadly, my husband and I completely read over the fact that they were topped with pesto, so he could not eat them due to a tree nut allergy. Started off the new year with brunch at Atomic Cowboy - I don't think there were many places open on January 1st, so this place was very busy. I signed up for the waitlist and received a text that my table was ready, but still had to wait 20 minutes for a table when I walked in. So since the Westport location is permanently closed, I decided to try the Overland Park Location. The overland park location is slightly smaller but I like that there are games available indoor and at every table to keep you entertained while you wait on food and drinks. I ordered the Prickly Pear Margarita (non-alcoholic) and it was SUPER tasty, i just hate that it was super small and I finished it in maybe 3 sips.. kinda wish they offered this as a real drink with alcohol because it would've been even tastier. The sauce itself was crazy salty and I could only have a couple of bites because of the heavy salt content. If they toned down the salt, the sandwich would've been full of flavor. It was a nice Sunday afternoon, so we stopped at Atomic Cowboy for something to eat. We sat outside. It was delightful We got a slice of pizza with sausage, and an order of chicken tenders and waffle fries. I have to say the pizza was the largest slice I have ever seen, and it was only $5.75 ($5 for the cheese slice and $0.75 for the sausage topping). I put a fork in the picture to try and give some guidance on how big the slice was. If you picked it up and tried folding the slice the end flipped over. Anyway, I certainly managed to eat it. It was a very good slice. If you are looking for a pure NY slice this is close, but there are a few places in town which hit the mark a little better. However, if you just want a good, big slice and cheap this is the place. The chicken tenders were okay. Not exactly sure what the outside breading was. Definitely something different. This was my first visit to this location and I liked that you can get on the waitlist via phone. I would highly recommend that you check the wait times prior to heading there and getting your name on the list if necessary because it does fill up pretty fast. Once we arrived, we simply checked in at the front. We did wait a bit more but the time quoted was accurate so it was expected. The interior is pretty large. They have a pool table, shuffle board, a few video games, and lots of TVs. It very much resembles the Westport location. Very on brand. We started with a carafe of mimosas. If you're going to drink more than two, this is the way to go. The champagne was on tap, the oj pulpy. It was a good start. We opted for the breakfast side and ordered the Dahlia: Polidori sausage patty, house-made apple butter, fried egg, & covered in maple syrup. I upgraded from a regular biscuit to a French toast biscuit and I honestly wish that it just normally came with that because it's awesome. It was sweet and savory and just huge! I would definitely recommend it. My boyfriend ordered the Franklin: Buttermilk fried chicken, tenderbelly bacon, & cheddar cheese smothered in house-made sausage gravy. He orders this every time. It's his favorite. I've had it before and it's good. They also have a mushroom gravy and I prefer it to the sausage gravy. They will do half and half if you wanna try both. Finally we ended with a S'Medium Cinnamon Roll. I think this was just a restaurant week offering because I don't recall seeing it on the menu. They do have a cinnamon roll and it's huge. Denver Biscuit Co is going to be permanently in my brunch rotation! I ordered the three run double with fried chicken and scrambled eggs. I am so picky about my biscuits but this one topped even homemade. They are fluffy on the inside with a good crust on the outside. It was perfect with the honey butter and blueberry jam. The eggs were surprisingly delicious as well, great texture. Great vibes in the restaurant too, we were able to get seated for 3 on a Saturday morning with no wait. 1st time coming in to Fat Sully's. I have been searching for a great burger in Kansas City. Fat Sully's only has one type of burger, a simple smashed burger with cheese/pickle/onion/sauce. However, we discovered that they are housed within the same building so glad we figured that out. So, I lived in Denver from 2011 to 2019. And I frequented Fat Sully's on Broadway quite a few times. The one in Overland Park is bigger, newer, but I'm not in love with the slices. Unfortunately, it wasn't crisp with toppings and cheese. It was soggy plain pizza, no cheese to speak of with some other greasy vegetables thrown on top. Good: They were nice, the place was clean, the service was pretty quick. Atmosphere seemed fun. Lots of toppings on pizza, just not connected to pizza. Bad: Have to order a whole pie to get a true example of real Fat Sully's pizza because the slices are just cheese pizza heated up with some topping thrown on. Atomic Cowboy is yet another fabulous addition to the ever growing Downtown Overland Park area. I swear everytime I blink something cool and appealing moves in over here and I'm not complaining. I've been a fan of Denver Biscuit Company since I visited their flagship location in Colorado years ago and having one in KC was great, having one in OP is honestly even better. We stopped in here one early morning with our daughter for a special brunch and they delivered with amazing biscuit sandwiches, biscuit cinnamon rolls, and bacon. Since then we've ordered Fat Sully's and while we still have things to try there I can say that overall everything here is pretty great, from the ambiance, to the service, to the food. Mmmmm I'm so happy for another breakfast place in downtown OP! And not only is it a great breakfast place, it's also a pizza place by night (until 2 am!) This is such a cool concept for a restaurant - flip flopping between the styles while also keeping the bar open all day. There are tons of TVs and pool/shuffleboard/board games. I can see posting up here for the day to watch a game or hang with friends. When it's nicer, the patio looks choice! Our server, Isaiah, was attentive and helpful, even giving us a tip that you can basically make any biscuit sandwich you want. He told us about his personal fave, a Cordon Bleu with added raspberry jam and subbed French toast biscuit buns - basically a Monte Cristo. It was sublime and absolutely humongous. Seriously, we will probably split a meal next time because I don't think I'll be hungry again all weekend. An exciting new addition to Downtown OP!! My favorite are the biscuits by far!! I'm NOT a gravy girl typically, but I LOVE their Franklin sandwich. One of those dishes you eat and you keep thinking it for weeks afterward It's also a great spot to meet up for drinks or happy hour - their drinks are so well priced and they even have champagne on tap for $7.50! I tried a custom "big ass" pizza slice from Fat Sully's ($4.75 + $0.70 per topping) during my dine-in lunch visit. It was served 15 minutes after I ordered at the table, and nicely sized at 12" x 10". The slice had a flavorful sauce and a good number of toppings on a thin, tasty, crunchy, chewy crust - nice! I found the service from everyone I encountered to be professional, attentive, cheerful and helpful. The dining area was nice and new with a large bar area, 11 beers on tap, a happy hour 4-6 PM M-F, a mix of booths and tables, various genres of background music, board games, arcade games, and a billiard table. I also noticed a spacious patio and limited nearby parking. I love a good pizza by the slice restaurant, and this one had reasonably priced slices and did everything right. Ambiance - Bar and breakfast/lunch/dinner gastro pub vibe (biscuit/burger/gigantic slice of NY Pizza place all in one. Hadn't tried their biscuit offerings (only available till 2:00 pm). Most of their biscuit sammies come with a size-able piece of chicken, so I got the Tomahawk. Sausage, eggs of your choosing fried/scrambled/over easy etc, with cheddar and in-house made jelly on a GIANT biscuit. These are bigger than Big Biscuit, a bit moist/not dry, and very fluffy. Glad I only got the sammie w/o sides as it was stomach filling enough. Nice touch here is that IF you get coffee, THEN it is self serve/bottomless at the south side of the room under the buffalo head mounted on the wall. Half and Half is the singular creamer option (not the various flavors @ the tables elsewhere) Regular Coffee and Decaf are the options. There's a tempting shrimp and grits item of the menu for all you grits fans out there too! All in all between the Biscuit / bkfast options till 2, cheeseburgers and fries till about 7pm, then gianticus slices of za with your choice of toppings this is a triumvirate o options in down town OPK.
