I discovered this sweet shop a few months ago when doing some Bellingham thrifting with my mom. It's in a fairly large space and is so incredibly well organized - one of my #1 requirements in a thrift shop! All of the items were clean, and there wasn't really any "junk" to sift through to find treasures. As always, I started in the kitchen area, where I'm always looking for some interesting bowl, jar, or rare kitchen gadget to add to my collection. Then, I meandered over to the linens, through the furniture, over to clothing, and of course spent a considerable amount of time in their crafting and book area. Their prices were super reasonable, and the staff (who all - or most - appear to be volunteers) were very friendly and helpful. Came to the grand opening of the new location and it was great to see their new place. The new location is right off of Northwest and next to Big Lots. I feel like the space is bigger than the last location, so they are able to have more variety of inventory. Lots of parking available as it shares a huge lot with the rest of the strip mall. Prices are still GREAT- not overpriced. I feel like some of the thrift stores in the area can be overpriced. All the volunteers are so sweet, so I enjoy everytime I visit this organization. My favorite thrift store in Bellingham!! Merchandise includes linens, animal paraphernalia, kitchenware, household items, garden related items, clothing and more! The quality is excellent and the prices are great! They seem to be very selective about what they sell. For me however, the biggest benefit of shopping there is not just the multitude of treasures I have found, and continue to find, but I get to leave knowing I have contributed to the welfare of so many deserving animals at the Humane Society who's staff are doing a daunting and amazing job! I have been shopping at the Whatcom Humane Thrift Shop for years now. In fact, I like it so much that I decided to volunteer! What I like best about the shop is that all the money after expenses goes straight to the Whatcom Humane Society to help local animals in need. Animals don't have a voice or the choice to go elsewhere if their humans are cruel or neglectful. I want to help as many animals as I can and shopping at the thrift shop is an easy way to do it! When I need an item, I start here. If they don't have what I'm looking for, then I'll shop at other stores. It is also a very welcoming environment. The benefits of shopping at the Humane Society Thrift Shop are numerous. Many of the donations are of high quality, many items are new, and there are so many interesting vintage as well as a multitude of other items to choose from. Books are a bargain! They have a lot of current books from some of the best authors to choose from. I highly recommend this thrift shop above and beyond most other stores because of the service by the competent staff, cleanliness of the store and items. There is a wide variety of household items, clothing, jewelry, toys, unique vases, and a vast array of other items. Not only do you have a lot to choose from, you pay a bargain price, and you save the environment by reusing. I began volunteering at the thrift store after I was already a regular shopper. The store is well stocked, organized and clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. Items are in great condition and priced to sell. This thrift store is run by volunteers and the proceeds go to the Humane Society. So if you shop here your supporting a great cause. They are only open on Weekends Friday through Sundays and only accept debit/credit as payment. No cash or check. The have a big variety of items to look at and great prices. They don't mark up there items like a lot of other thrift shops do. Be sure to check them out and give your support if your ever in the area. They also take donations. Nice but small shop. They have lots of clothing. I was looking for yarn and craft supplies which they didn't have.

I've come to this place for almost 2 years and the 23rd of Dec a few days before Christmas. One of the volunteers sprayed me and my clothes with Febreze because one part of the store "smelled of marijuana" i am deeply upset. I have chronic pain and I smoke marijuana for help It is legal in Washington state. . I don't think I can ever come back I am embarrassed and deeply hurt. read more
