A great little thrift store. A good variety of inventory at very fair prices. I make sure to stop in whenever I pass by.

What shocked me was her attitude: the moment I tried to pick up an item to look at it, she immediately snapped "NO!" at me. She literally forbids customers from touching anything, rejecting every single inquiry with a rude "No." It creates an incredibly uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere. To top it all off, the prices in this disorganized hoard are completely detached from reality. Paying premium prices to be treated with absolute hostility in a messy, empty store is ridiculous. Do not waste your time or money here. Avoid this place at all costs! UPDATE The response from the owner, Chelsea, is an absolute fabrication. Her claim that I was "going through her personal belongings behind the counter" is completely ridiculous and utterly false. The items in question were sitting directly ON TOP of the main sales counter, thrown into a disorganized pile in plain view of anyone entering the shop. If these were truly your "personal, not-for-sale belongings," why on earth were they left piled up on a public retail counter? This is a desperate, made-up excuse to cover up your hostile and completely unprofessional behavior. Furthermore, you did not "politely explain" anything. You repeatedly snapped a single word at me: "NO!" - treating me like a dog that had wandered into your yard rather than a human being and a customer. It is pathetic that instead of taking accountability for your terrible customer service, you choose to invent outright lies to gaslight people. This owner is not just incredibly rude; she is completely dishonest. Avoid this place her behavior is absolutely unhinged.

After looking at a couple of the chain stores in the mall, I wanted to check with Borthwick's, mainly because I live in Ferndale, they are local, and I have heard good things. The chain stores tried to upsell me, and would have had to order the stone, and send the ring out for setting. The salesperson at Borthwick's was very friendly and helpful, and showed me a couple options that were in stock in the store in the price range I was looking for. She said it would take up to a week for the fitting, and would be done in house. I left to think about it for a little while, then came back and was able to negotiate the price down a little more on the diamond I wanted. I made the deal, put down half the cost for deposit, and was told it could take up to a week if any changes needed to be made in the setting. Three hours later I got a call and they said it was already done and I could pick it up when I was ready! I went back, picked it up along with an appraisal. The ring looks like new. They advised that we bring it back every six months or so for cleaning and inspection at no charge. I gave the ring with the new diamond to my wife on out 30th anniversary. She was very pleased at the selection I made on the stone, so I'm happy. :)

Just a few things in my experience... Sage, the owner is an absolute professional and I have been consigning with her for years at different locations. The James street and NW store seem to be inconsistent with each other as far as what they will accept. If one location does not take something, I go to the other store and they accept it. So, it may depend whose working or the particular needs of the store at a given time. This is my biggest issue with them is the consistency. Their acceptance seems to, at times depend on who is working and I rarely see the same gals behind the counter. They are always pleasant and don't make me feel rushed though. I like that they donate clothes, so you know if Labels does not accept them they will end up in a good home :-) I have purchased a few books here (bran new) but rarely anything else. I searched for jeans several times and can't find my size. Also, it's hard to get to clothes because most of them are jam- packed on the racks with little room to freely move about the store. They accept and move an insane amount of merchandise, which is great for consignors but doesn't lend to to a very pleasant shopping experience. Payments are always prompt and hassle free. Some places require you to have a minimum amount in your account. Not the case here, just present your ID and you're good to go!

Early on, I brought in some jewelry, including a pair of sterling and emerald earrings for which I had paid $85. I was assured someone would phone me about pricing before they went out onto the floor. I never received a call, and when I checked the site, they had already been sold, for $23! I got 40% of that. Another pair of nice new earrings and a pair of unworn cotton leggings somehow vanished; never shown in my items list and never accounted for. So, I advise sellers to NEVER select "donate," but pick up what they don't sell, as it is so easy for "donated" items to disappear. I will not ever take jewelry to Labels again. A couple of small pieces were clearly marked Sterling; they sold them for $5 each, so I received $2.00 for a piece of Sterling jewelry! Not worth the trouble. Whoever is in charge of pricing jewelry does not know what she is doing. With other items, I have done better: shoes, clothing, and a brand new throw still in the bag. Sellers beware, though.
