On my way home from my first Pfizer shot I thought I'd try another first. I can't believe that What's 'Poppin has been in business for 3 years and I never popped in before. They sure have a large variety of very interesting flavors and mixtures. I came home with bags of their Valentine Mix, Taco'bout Love, and Pizza my Heart since they were all calling out to me. (Sounds like Katie A. popped in with a few corny suggestions.) I was surprised that the Pizza my Heart was more spicy than the Taco'bout Love. But like true love they both were addictive. The Valentine Mix was the sweetest of the three with pieces of candy coated chocolate, rice candy, m&m, and a vanilla drizzle. If you check in on Yelp while you are there you will see that there is an added bonus. 1 Free small bag of popcorn with any purchase during your first check in. The staff was happy to oblige and I chose the 9 Pin Raspberry. Just a bit of sweetness here mixed with what I believe might be some toasted grain. Staff was very helpful and friendly. And one of the nicest things was that it was next to impossible to find any un-popped kernels. read more

This is a very cool shop offering my absolute favorite snack with flavors that support other businesses I love! Went in to get the free check in offer the business is promoting on Yelp the day before Valentine's Day. Went with my gut (pun intended) to get the nine pin and artisanal brew works flavors. Nine pin raspberry with a streusel and white chocolate and artisanal porter (I think, it's dark beer but may be a stout) and red velvet seasoning. To our surprise the red velvet was the clear winner at home, we love artisanal but both of us are iffy on red velvet cake. Popcorn is my second favorite snack (only behind pretzels) and I was not aware of this business at all but thanks to a Yelp event I now am. Walking in, we were greeted warmly and took everything in. The shop has an attractive retail section with the production operation open to view in the back. We ended up purchasing a Moo-Vee butter 20 scoop bag (that I'm eating while I write this) and a small bag of Kettle corn. I found the Moo-Vee butter nice and evenly flavored but a bit dry, perhaps over cooked. This may be a reflection of the cooking style What's Poppin employees but it wasn't to my liking. Moving on to the Kettle Corn, I can say I've eaten more than my fair share between store bought and kettle cooked popcorn at fairs and craft shows. Regrettably this was by fair the worst I've had. Again over cooked and dry with little to no sugar flavor. I'd be hard pressed in a blind taste test to identify this as Kettle Corn. I will give What's Poppin another try and sample the Caramel and Cheddar popcorn next time and update my review at that time. read more

This place is great. I walked by a few times and it always smells delicious. They had apple cider donut popcorn for sample so I stopped in. It was delicious! I walked out with kettle Korn and the upstate mix. You must get the upstate mix. Delicious popcorn, would make such a great holiday gift! read more

Movie theater popcorn flavor is really really good. You can get that here. But this place goes beyond that with their ever-changing roster of flavors and seasonal tastes. What a great little popcorn shop with some really creative flavors! I was really excited to try the "Albany style" popcorn, as Chicago popcorn is a favorite of mine, and I found it to fit the bill! Delicious buttery, cheddar popcorn and not-too-sweet caramel popcorn make for a delicious mix! I also picked up one of their Valentine's themed flavors - "Love Buzz", which was a mix of chocolate and coffee flavored popcorn. The smell alone was worth the trip down from Saratoga. I got a little carried away, and would be hard pressed to pick a favorite out of the four varieties I brought home. Rhetorically WHY-answer? just because too much was made and you are trying to save at paying customers' expense. Gourmet prices should mean quality. The return to New York and no nearby Popcorn Factory in Capital District is why we tried this place at all. I'll start by saying as odd as it may be popcorn is my favorite food. I was very excited to find this spot. The place is a small retail space in a plaza. It was very clean and the staff was I guess friendly. The person who cashed me out was clearly new and the one training was busy on a laptop. I didn't see all the different kinds I read about, and wasn't told about anything. Didn't feel all that comfortable, almost like an inconvenience. I got just a small bag of regular butter popcorn. The smell is amazing, unfortunately the taste doesn't match. There was nothing wrong with the flavor, just not worth the cost. And all the kernels looked the same which I found weird since usually they are all different. Unfortunately I will not return and will still be on the look out for amazing popcorn. read more

Found this little Gem the other dat while shopping at kohl's. My wife and I decided to stop in after we noticed the sign. As we got close to the store you could smell the popcorn outside. It was heaven! Inside the machines were popping and we tried a few delicious samples and settled for the 3 bags for 10. We chose what they call "Upstate" mix of Carmel and Spicy Cheddar. The Carmel is awesome the ketel was just what the wife wanted. They sell several gifts and tins that say Albany Ny. We sure hope they stick around. We Will be back often.
