These people rock the face off of customer service and the lake life! We planned a SUPER last minute trip to the lake for the 4th of July. My kids have grown up in a state where fireworks aren't allowed because the entire state would ignite with just the thought of launching a bottle rocket. So we thought it would be a fun 'socially distanced' vacation to head to the lake! I grew up on a ski boat, visiting Table Rock as a kid/teen/20 something and have always LOVED it there. We frequented What's Up Doc and stayed in the Kimberling City area almost exclusively. I wanted to rent a boat for the entire week we were there. Pipe dream right? Last minute trip AND a boat?!? I called multiple times a day for 5 days in a row before we got there! Everybody was always so nice to me. Nobody was ever mean or annoyed that I kept calling By the time we arrived to our condo (which was also awesome) I just knew Jesse would find me a boat. We had been able to secure 2 different boats for the end of the week but I wanted one all week. We arrived Saturday afternoon on the 4th and less than 24 hours later I got the call from What's Up Dock that they had a boat for me!! And when we went to get it they said there was a cancelation and we got to keep it all week!! I was soooooo excited! Tyler (I believe was the manager on duty Thursday night) is fabulous. I cannot say enough wonderful things about him and his customer service. We had a circumstance that required a little extra help and attention and he did research and went above and beyond to help us in our situation. Overall the marina is super clean and the staff is super friendly, patient, and helpful! The staff all had on masks and kept their social distance when they could. We rented a boat and the guy that checked it out to us Thursday was incredible! He took his time (I was super nervous) and he made sure I was totally comfortable before we left! The girl that helped us on Friday was super helpful too. Even though they were swamped they never made us feel rushed! Checking in the boat both days was super easy breezy too!! I didn't give 5 stars because the staff isn't all ok the same page when it comes to policy and such. read more

We rented a tritoon from What's Up Dock today. The boat was the nicest and best kept boat that we've ever rented before. We were very impressed with this marina and rental process. They were very thorough in their rental process from making sure we knew how to operate the boat, to checking (and videoing) every inch of the boat over before we took it, to checking it over when we returned. This is necessarily a long & detailed review. If you're only interested in the outcome skip to the final paragraph - better yet - go rent elsewhere!!! On June 25, 2013 I made a reservation with What's Up Dock to rent a boat on both July 5 and 6, 2013. I explicitly told the person whom I spoke with that our party was three children (2 - 11 y.o. & 1 - 8 y.o.). I told them that it was our intent to ski, tube & swim. I ALSO told them that we would be teaching the 3 kids how to ski. They set up the reservation for the 5th for a 19' runabout and the 6th for what I was told was a New 21' Fish and Ski (F&S). I was told the F&S was a good boat to do water sports and that skiing off this boat was no problem. When we arrived on the 5th we were told that the 19' boat was rated for 6. What immediately became clear was that this boat was unsuitable for our group ( 3 kids & 4 adults) & the gear we needed (2 pairs of skis (one which was a set of trainers) and a tube). To make it work we left the tube at the marina and came back for it when the kids were ready to tube. Keep in mind the rental agreement prohibits towing a tube and skiing .This of course meant staying within a reasonable proximity of the dock and using time and gas to go back and forth to retrieve our the tube. The second day when we were provided the fish and ski we experienced even greater difficulty trying to load our group and the limited equipment that we had brought to ski and tube. This boat did not even have a ski locker in the floor so we had nowhere to go with the skis. Suffice to say that the boat handled like a 1962 Ford F2 50 pickup truck with no power steering. Due to the hull design the boat was not stable and was extremely rough in any kind of chop. The steering, which was not power, was absolutely unresponsive. Additionally, the boat drifted when running at low speeds. It took no time to conclude that putting young children in the water to learn how to ski was not happening When we returned to get the marina midday and for the evening several staff members asked how our day was and how we liked the boat. I was very clear that we loved the lake but did not like the boat. More important we made it clear that we felt it was not a boat they should rent to those intending on skiing - especially with young children. Several of the dock hands mentioned that they only had two of these boats, that they did not handle well and that at least 50% of the people who rent them do not like them and voice similar complaints. No effort made to address our issues! One staff member, who as it turned out had no authority to do so, mentioning doing something for us on our next rental, our concerns and complaints were dismissed and ignored. Planning a return trip to the lake the weekend 8/10/13 I called What's Up Dock take them up on what I believed was a legitimate offer to do "something for us" on another rental. What resulted was a conversation with the manager which was so insulting that I contacted the owner. During that conversation she told me that they "pride" themselves on "providing excellent customer service" and that the managers comments about their not caring about what is said about their business on web sites like this one having "little if any" impact on their business was totally wrong. So what did they do and how was our second experience you ask? I book lodging in their cabins and set up the two day rental. The owner offered us a $100 discount on our two day rental which reduced the cost from $550 to $450. We felt they should have done more since we had spent more than $700 on the prior rental on the 5th & 6th but I was not prepared to argue with the owner. On the second day of the rental the weather was bad. During the morning it rained and for a period of time there was a strong downpour. The Weather Channel was showing a 60% chance of rain and the sky's were threatening. When I contacted Mary the manager at the dock she told me that they had sent boats out and that they "do not make refunds or adjustments because there are thunderstorms predicted". Though I tried to deal with her logically and explained that going out with the weather predicted did not make good sense it was clear I was on the hook for the entire day. Once again it was clear you play by their rules and whether your happy is simply irrelevant Over the course of the two weekends we did business with POK we spent more than $1400. Suffice to say we feel they are not focused on assuring their patrons the best experience. Their idea of customer service does not appear to include listening to clearly stated and totally reasonable expectations or assuring the safety and well being of those that rent from them. We urge you to be cautious. Be sure what your sold/rented truly fits your needs and be aware short of unremitting severe storms your on the hook for your entire reservation. **FUEL SCAM ALERT** Seems like we had a similar experience to some of other reviewers here. We had a party of 5 take out 4 jetskis. Before we began, we had a checklist of items and rules to go over, which did not include anything about fuel level. After about 10 mins we noticed one of the jetskis had only half a tank of fuel left. Granted, that particular jetski was carrying two people, but there was no way it burned that much fuel in that short amount of time. The four jetskis all rode for one hour and returned at the same time. When we pulled up to the dock, we mentioned to the dockhand that one jestki had only half a tank when we started. He just said "ok" and continued to fuel. Next we went inside to pay the fuel bill, and three of the jestkis were charged a range of $15-22 each. The fourth jestki (the one with half fuel to begin with) was charged $40.60. The clerk said all jetskis started with a full tank of fuel. We tried to reason with one of the managers and asked if one jestki could have possibly used double the amount of fuel of the other three jetskis in the same amount of time. She shrugged saying yes "if you're making extra turns, speeding or the other boats are spending more time idling". That is 11.2 gallons for one jetski vs about 4-6 gallons each for the other three jestkis.You do the math. After a little more back and forth, the manager refused to meet us in the middle with the fuel bill. This business didn't seem concerned with being fair or taking care of the customer. Professional, courteous, quick process of signing in, boat check, and were always available to help us dock the boat when we needed to return for various reasons. The Regal 21' was well-maintained, and performed well for us for a whole day rental. The return process was also quite painless. Highly recommend this outfit! read more

Thirty minutes of paperwork at 75 bucks/ half hour. 10 pages of signed/ initialed paperwork, plus a mandatory video watch. Tried to charge for a ski role that was never on the boat. The staff was nice, but never again. 500 bucks for 4 hours, plus we had to pay gas. SCAM! read more

Horrible service! Made a reservation in the last week of May or so for Fathers day weekend. They put down the wrong day and sent confirmation email to wrong email address. No longer had boat available for correct day, only had a pontoon which is almost double in cost and would only offer 10% discount. Should've seen the 3.6 star rating Google had. read more

The Marina was so great to work with from day one. When we arrived to the Table Rock Lake area for vacation the weather was bad. They were so nice and flexible. We were able to switch days and adjust a couple of the items we reserved. We will definitely be using them again when we come back to the area! read more

I made a reservation a week in advanced for a boat, which was an easy process. What's Up Dock even called to check on us when we were late the day of our rental to see if we were okay. The staff was friendly, helpful and made the rental process a breeze! The prices were so good compared to other rental places I checked on in the area. There are zero rules for their employees at this business. They follow the manager who does not care AT ALL about what the customer have to say. The employees actually back talked us in front of the manager and he said nothing. Almost encouraged it! Do not rent from What's Up Dock! This place is a scam! We rented a boat, had an experienced driver and the water was smooth. We drove a few miles, then floated in a cove for the day. Upon return, we were told that one of the propeller blades were bent and we were charged $250 deposit. We did not hit anything. The personnel were rude and dismissive and suggested next time before we take a rental boat out that we get on the water and check the propeller before leaving. Are you kidding me? We have rented from them for the last 3 summers and I just reserved a boat for July 2015. I read the 2 bad reviews, but our experience has been nothing but good. The boat is always ready to go when we get there. We do paperwork and the walkaround and are usually gone in 30 minutes or so. We have been keeping the boat overnight where we stay so that is convenient. hen we return the boat there is always somebody there to guide us in and tie us off. They usually help us unload our stuff even. We have never had any issues with the boats as they are fairly new. As far as the weather, they gladly moved our two day reservation back a day last July when storms and rain rolled in the morning we were scheduled to pick the boat up. We thank them for doing that so it did not ruin our vacation. As far as the price to rent their boats, I have not found a better deal on the lake for a "comparable" boat. The other places charge $100 or more a day for the same type boat. Needless to say, we will continue to rent from them. P.S..... If "DS" got a $$ discount for complaining, how about some ice, and a few cold beers and water in the cooler when we pick the boat up 7/14/15...lol, for a loyal customer. read more

I rented a boat with some friends. We had a great day on the boat, smooth water with no debris and no issues. We drove the boat a total 30 minutes and spent the rest of time floating in the cove. Upon returning the boat, we were told that we we would have to pay the $250 damage fee for a bent propeller. We explained that we are 100% confident that we did not hit anything and the damage must been done prior. They refused to listen and said they use Aluminum props, not steel, maybe cheap materials are too blame? He said the water pressure could have caused it at high speeds. Gas Alert! Be careful when you buy gas here. They charged me for 40 gallons of gas when I arrived with 3/8's of a tank. My tank is 35 gallons and I estimate I had around 13 gallons. I always get gas once my gauge drops below half yet somehow they managed to charge me for 40 gallons. I asked the attendant how he was able to charge me for 40 gallons given the circumstances and he said he did not know. When I spoke with Jeremy the manager, he spoke with the owner and then told me that there is no way to track my purchase to the particular pump and that I probably paid for someone else's gas. I figure they owe me for 5 gallons over my tank limit of 35 plus the 13 I already had in it to be 18 gallons x $3.60 per gallon = $64.80. He said he could not help me with a refund but would be sure to retrain the staff to be more careful. Jeremy also suggested that I make sure, on future visits, that I watch the attendant zero out the pump before starting and watch them during the entire process noting what the total gallons are before rendering payment. He also said he hoped that this experience would not keep me from buying gas there in the future. What?! I have been buying gas on the lake for 38 years and have never been overcharged for gas until now. I am disappointed that they did not take responsibility for their mix-up and will get my gas elsewhere. read more

I would most definitely not recommend this rental company. They kept our $250 deposit, saying we damaged the propeller when we didn't. It was in the exact condition upon return as it was upon rental. Pretty sad when you have to scam your customers. read more

If I could give this review ZERO stars I would. I had the absolute worst renting experience here. Will NEVER go back or recommend to anybody. Their management is a joke. I myself am a manager at the store I work at and I deal with customer service day in and day out. I was mind blown at the way the OWNER handled the situation, she was incredibly unprofessional, arguing and raising her voice the entire time.
