We had a fabulous dinner... The appetizers were great. I had the calamari and my daughter had a eggplant stack. Our dinner consisted of a 1 pound piece of lasagna and some EVOO/garlic pasta. Celebrated a birthday at Wheatfields last night with some friends and overall we had a good experience. The food (we all ordered different pasta dishes) was amazing and the portions were huge, which is a plus considering you are paying higher prices for the classier vibe of the restaurant. Service was attentive and pretty quick. The only things that were slightly disappointing were that the bread (extra $4) was slightly cold in the middle, as well as the fact that the hostess and our servers made multiple special mentions of the birthday we were celebrating but didn't offer any birthday reward (for example, a free dessert, a free side, etc.) While this is obviously not a requirement, we were a bit disappointed that after such a big deal was made about the occasion, nothing was included to go with it. Overall, though, we enjoyed our dinner and would love to go back in the future. read more

Our family booked Wheatfields for Easter brunch, members of our family having celiac disease and I was hoping for them to have more options. The brunch was $45/pp, comparable to other restaurants however, there was no carving station, no omelette station, it was basic breakfast. The scrambled eggs were actually burned. The restaurant which is known for its gluten free (GF) items, had no allergy signs posted to indicate what items were GF. Later I discovered this was because there were literally NO GF items other than the burnt scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, salad and shrimp. The most concerning to me as a nurse was watching the tongs getting crossed contaminated between the shrimp tray and the sausage and bacon tray. The Easter brunch was the worse brunch we had ever experienced. Our party of eleven will not be returning to Wheatfields! Such an expensive disappointment. read more

Terrible service, empty on a Sunday. It took over 10 minutes of waiting for a drink, and that was after waiting 15 minutes after being sat down. No bread was served at all. The waiter never came back to check on table. The meals finally came and they weren't hot, tasted off. Waited again for what seemed like forever and then finally paid n left. When I got home I started to feel really sick from the few bites of my meal I did have ugh. Do not recommend, not worth it. The food was mediocre at best, not what it used to be. read more

The homemade pasta here is incredible, you have to order it if you come here. The service and ambience provide a decently upscale experience. I also find their prices reasonable for the food and experience you get. However, a few small things bother me, the bread is an extra $4, their tip suggestions are after tax, and they give you take out trays instead of packing it for you (unlike their Saratoga location and competitors). All small issues, but they leave an impression and take away from an otherwise great experience. Again, still a great restaurant, and the best pasta I've had outside of Italy. read more

Poor showing in the customer service department recently for Wheatfields. I called to order a family meal, planning to use gift certificates to pay at pick up. I was home alone with two little ones, and my older daughter was already out, so I called Wheatfields back to ask if it would be ok if I sent her pictures of the gift certificates. The hostess asked what the certificates looked like and I described, and she then told me it would be fine to show a picture. Sadly, when my daughter arrived she was told by a manager that she could not use the picture. To say one thing on the phone and then another when the customer arrives is very bad business. Even if they were correct and I was a big scammer who goes around trying to use gift cards twice (I'm not!), at that point the only option for a good business it to take a possible $50 loss and honor what the customer was told by your representative. Hopefully, this behavior will be addressed. read more

I cannot say enough good things about this wonderful establishment! While traveling up north to do some furniture shopping I came across this Bistro/Bar. Since I was by myself I decided to have lunch at the bar and watch the soccer game on the tv. I had the most delicious ravioli in a mushroom cream sauce, and a glass of wine. It was absolutely delicious! The service was phenomenal. The whole atmosphere of this bistro was relaxing, and inviting. since I was by myself I was able to hear the people sitting around me, and all the servers were just as wonderful as mine at the bar. When I was finished and leaving every server I passed said thank you for coming, and wish me a good day. I live a little more than an hour away, but I can't wait to visit again. Honestly so so much is wrong with this place. From the tiny side tables to the awful hosts. The table adjacent to mine sat for 15-20 minutes without being served and when they finally did order they ordered from the lunch menu as the host gave them the wrong menus as us. Waitress brought me the wrong drink twice. Gave me half frozen bread and even gave me a salad instead of my entree. My friends steak came charred and their broccoli cold smothered in garlic. Will not be returning. I genuinely cannot believe I sat there for an hour and a half and they brought me out the wrong entree which they did end up comping the wrong entree. I expect better food and service for the price. read more

An upscale lunch spot in Clifton Park. Nice interior and table settings. The appetizer we got, bruschetta, was amazing, but the main course didn't compare to it. I ordered the chicken macaroni and cheese, but there was no chicken in it and the taste left something to be desired. My bf had the lasagna and really enjoyed his meal. When I think of Wheatfields, I think of the Broadway Bistro in downtown Saratoga, with a nice long front porch for al fresco dining, summer happy hours, and solid people watching. This location is nestled in a giant shopping center/strip mall, and it's usually not my scene, but you can't judge a book by its cover right? Happy to say that despite the locations being seemingly worlds away, I had the Wheatfields experience I've come to know and love. A large group of us gathered here for a holiday reunion brunch; several former co-workers and a good time was had by all. We were expecting around 15-20 people, and they had two large/long tables set up for us when we got there, right in front of the fireplace, and it ended up being the perfect arrangement for our large group. People could sit down at the tables or mix and mingle with ease. Since this brunch was on the Saturday between Christmas and New Year's, I tried to be good: my heart said burger and fries, but my jeans said, "good grief, woman, eat a salad!" - I was disappointed to learn we would not be getting a brunch menu (Sunday brunch only!) so I compromised and made a selection from the lunch menu. I ordered the grilled chicken club (with fries!) and it was honestly exactly what I was in the mood for. I was living for the garlic aioli, and I liked that it came on a torpedo hard roll, with plenty of cheese. This was kinda like the chicken sandwich of my dreams, believe it or not, it just had all the right things going on. I also appreciate the bar doing me a solid: a vodka-based drink on the menu sounded tasty to me, with the exception of one ingredient: 7-Up. The menu described the drink as being finished with a splash of the lemon-lime soda, but I thought prosecco would be a fine, dare I say better, substitution, so I nicely asked our server to ask the bar if they would do that for me, and they kindly obliged! My thinking behind the swap: more bubbles *and* more booze. It's science. read more

We had our company Christmas gathering here tonight and it was amazing! Giving a shout out to our awesome waitresses Brielle and Kristen! They were attentive, friendly, helpful and fun! Thank you ladies! The food was delicious and fresh. I have zero complaints. I passed on dessert as I am trying to watch my figure even during the holidays. Was super hard to pass on it because all of the choices looked so good. We all had a great time and we will definitely be looking to gather here again! I have been here before with friends and my boyfriend and it has always been a great experience! They really hire top notch people; the service is impeccable. The restaurant is beautiful, has a nice ambience, very warm and cozy feeling. Whenever I come here, I always think to myself, why don't I come here even more. It's so nice. Just horrible. Met some colleagues there for lunch last week. Ordered the burger medium and only had a small piece (10%) off the outside edge before heading for a Dr's appointment. Later at home I warmed the rest of the burger up and proceeded to eat it and I immediately tasted a burnt taste and noticed the burger was black and so was the bun on the inside so I threw it out. Unfortunately just that one or two bites I swallowed was enough to make me quite nauseous to the point of nearly throwing up. Spent the rest of the night on the couch with Pepto followed by severe runs in the morning.....Just horrible. I will never eat at this restaurant again or the one in Saratoga for that matter and will let all my co-workers and colleagues know about my offal experience.....UNACCEPTABLE. read more

I loved the calamari!!!! It has the perfect crisp on the outside and a nice fresh squid texture. AND OH MY GOSH THE SAUCE, it's tangy, sweet, savory and just heaven melting into your mouth. I highly recommend the calamari. The entrées however were alright. Pizza had a nice crust and was satisfactory. But for the place to pride themselves with the handmade pasta, it was okay. The texture was slightly over boiled turning mushy but the marinara was alright. Overall, I might just come back for the calamari but that's all. read more

On a recent visit we found out when the check came that they charge $4 for their bread (which consists of a small basket with two pieces of bread and butter). We asked for more bread and was never informed that there is a charge for bread until the bill came and we questioned the $8 bread fee. The server said it is listed "somewhere" on the menu (clearly it was not noticeable) and it is not something that we would ever have thought to ask about. We advised her that it was completely unexpected, and we would never have asked for more bread had we known that and they should certainly advise their guests of this bread fee. Our dinner here was enjoyable but plagued by some inconsistencies. That's too bad, because the atmosphere here is really welcoming - spacious and comfortable. It began on an off note, when it took over 10 minutes to be greeted by our server after being seated. I did notice that we were seated at almost exactly 5pm, and I had not seen our server on the floor previously until she greeted us. We were most likely her first table. That reminded me of something I was taught when I waited on tables many years ago - always check your station as soon as you get in for customers; do NOT rely on the hostess or other servers to tell you when your first party is seated. After we were first greeted, her service was very good. I also noticed a price difference between the "Explore the Menu" option on their Yelp page and their current menu, with most entrees $1 to $2 more now. Yes, there is a disclaimer about that sort of thing on the Yelp pages, but it's still probably a good idea to keep it up to date. The best part of our experience was my mom's dinner, her mac and cheese with crab. She raved about it several times. My own Chicken Milanese had to settle for runner-up. They aren't kidding in the menu description when it says "roasted tomato" it was indeed exactly ONE roasted cherry tomato, split. I did appreciate the way the chicken cutlets were breaded and cooked, but I also felt the breaded crust was a little chewy. Upon examination of the underside, I saw that one side of each cutlet was cooked a bit longer, perhaps 15-30 seconds away from being classified as "singed." On the plus side, the arugula was fresh and delicious, and presentation was excellent. I'd certainly come back. These sorts of things fall under "not likely to happen again," plus I generally like the fresh pasta dishes at both Wheat Fields. And now I have further incentive with their WOW rewards card, good at both, plus the newer BWP and 2 West restaurants in Saratoga. I also liked the teasers I saw for their wine flight special meals. read more

This review is for the catered dinner that Wheatfields provided for our Thanksgiving. There were two options to choose from for their "Thanksgiving Family Feast." Feeding a family of 8-10 for $150 or a family of 15-18 for $235. That's $15-$18.75/person for the smaller family or $13-$15.67/person for the larger family. We chose the $150 portion for our very small family with expectations of plenty of leftovers. The feast consisted of: Turkey breast & gravy; Choice of potato (mashed or sweet); Sage stuffing; Choice of vegetable (creamed corn, broccoli casserole, or green bean casserole); Bread & butter; Pumpkin or apple pie. Full instructions for reheating were provided to us as we picked up our meal the day before Thanksgiving (the required pickup date). The manager was nice enough to carry the boxes to our car. Now, we've had our Thanksgiving dinner catered previously by other restaurants, but it was always with a full turkey instead of just a breast. Needless to say, I was wondering how I would cope with the lack of dark meat that I frequently found to be more moist than the breast meat that is often overcooked and dried out. It turned out that I did not need to have any concern. The breast meat, which was already sliced, was nice and moist. It was even moist when eaten cold for sandwiches after Thursday. Cranberry sauce was not listed as being included in the dinner, but it was provided. Whole cranberries with a touch of orange flavor was one of the best cranberry sauces I've enjoyed. The gravy was fine on our choice of the mashed potatoes, which used unpeeled potatoes, and also on the turkey. I know some people will also put it on their stuffing, but I enjoy tasting the flavors in a stuffing and this sage stuffing was delicious and moist enough to not need any gravy. My wife saw to it that the stuffing was the first leftover to be finished. The only weak item in our opinion was our choice of the green bean casserole. It seemed to lack something. It needed more flavor. Of course the green beans tasted like green beans, but the cream sauce could have benefited from some additional herb or spicing. In fact, possibly for that very reason it is the only dish that is still unfinished in our fridge. The bread was a twenty-inch-long French baguette from La Brea Bakery. Whipped herb butter was provided. We paid an additional fee to receive a 2nd pie so that we had both a pumpkin and an apple. Both pies were good. The apple filling consisted of thicker slices that provided greater texture. The pumpkin filling was typical and tasty. The crust on both pies was only OK, our own whipped cream helped both out. Bottom line, there would have been plenty of food to feed the number of people specified at a single dinner. Our smaller family benefited from having leftovers and those leftovers were really good. Overall, we were quite pleased and would consider having Wheatfields cater our dinner again. read more

I've been hesitant to write this review becauseI I've loved Wheatfield's In Clifton Park for many years. Things change and help is hard to find...I'm chalking our experience up to that. My sisters and I brought my mom there to celebrate her birthday - on my suggestion, as I'd been there many times. I bragged about the fact that their calamari was our benchmark, vis a vis compared to all other restaurants - it was the best. I found a long, black hair in it tonight and I didn't tell my family. It was also chewy and, overall, very disappointing. No one ate it but no one said anything because they knew I loved it. :(. I felt bad that I had hyped it up so much. I had ordered the seasonal bowl - my favorite ! - and it was not rancid but it was also lacking. I can't point to what was missing- I've ordered it 5 times - what I can say that it was below average and it used to be a star item. My mom - as part of her birthday celebration - received a cooked pasta dish and marinara sauce to bring home- which was uncooked and had white things floating in the sauce so she threw it -and apologized to me, as I had recommended the restaurant. Again, this hard to write because this has been my favorite place for a very long time. Having said that, I brought my family here and it was so disappointing. :( read more

Afternoon in Clifton Park + a group of 10 + Wheatfields = a lovely little lunch. Had a bite of the Caprese Salad - the mozz was delish. Ordered the Chicken Rigatoni for my main meal. And it was mighty tasty. Not a huge fan of mushrooms so the waitress said "no problem" to making the dish without. In fact the waitress did a great job taking care of all of us. Drinks + apps + meals and everything came out perfect. Prices are reasonable... but I did think $15 for the Chicken Rigatoni was a bit steep for a lunch portion, it was still delish though. Visited for the first time on my lunch hour. My husband ordered ravioli with a side of meatballs, I ordered the eggplant stack with a side of pasta. We ordered the house bread and both had a coke. The food was very good. We both enjoyed what we ate. When we got the bill I almost fell off my chair. It was 75.44.. that's ridiculous! We ate at the Barnsider 2 weeks prior and both ordered prime rib I got shrimp with mine. Soda and salad bar included.. that was just under 90.00.. although wheatfields has good food, I will never return.. We frequently eat out.. it's just him and I so it's just not worth cooking at home. Service was good. I ate in the bar area. Nice and clean and very attentive. Of course it was early afternoon on a Saturday and there was only one other person on the bar side. Ordered the Chicken Bruschetta Wrap and iced tea. Oh wait the didn't have any iced tea but they had coke products. But wait they didn't have any Coke Zero only diet. I settled on water. Food came quickly had a sided of pasta salad nothing very flavorful but this is bar food. The Bar Tender brought the food. All good. Very nice lady. Check was more then reasonable. I would have to eat there again on the restaurant side before I could commotions a full on recommendation. read more
