Once she provided drinks, she asked about appetizers. They came out quick and were very very good. Foccacia and Meatballs. That's where it goes awry. We ordered 2 pizzas. 40 minutes went by without additional drinks or the pizza. Others in the dining room that were seated after we received our appetizers received their meals while we waited. There was a moment where the waitress looked over, and realized that she had not checked on us or we had received our pizza and you could see panic come across her face. 10 minutes later, she decides to stop at the table and apologize because there was a " rush on the kitchen, all at one time" however there were five tables in the dining room that were empty in an additional five tables in the bar area that were empty and no one sitting at either bars. We finally received our pizzas, however, you could tell they were rushed as the crust was not crispy and still doughy.. She apologized for having us wait. However, that did not make up for a very bad experience. As always, we ask, would we come back? And to be honest, in Troy there are so many opportunities for us to have Italian or to make our own Italian that I doubt that we will ever make it a second attempt. It's too bad because we love Troy and we love DeFazio's pizza from the original location. I wish them luck and hope that they can figure it out.

Fresh clams, mussels, salmon, jumbo shrimp, calamari & haddock. Sauteed with fresh garlic in a wine sauce. Served over linguini. We couldn't finish it. I took it home and ate it the next day. I also ordered a Tiramisu martini. I just had to know what that tasted like. It was good, but a bit strong so my friend helped by drinking half of it. Maria was our server. She was wonderful. She came back to check on us a bunch of times. I will miss this place. Since there's still more than a week before it transitions into Moscatiello's Banquet House, I'll try to make it back before then.

The service alone is worth the whole 5 stars, so how do I rate the food? :) We ordered lasagna, I got the meat, my wife got meatless. Salad on the table minutes after we ordered. Nice salad, nothing fancy, good variety, lots of black olives, some sort of pickled pepper, decent croutons. Meals came within 10 minutes, piping hot, and just from looking I knew I was in for a treat. There was plenty of sauce, and not the thin watery stuff that seems to be called sauce lately. Rich, thick, had a great texture to it, not a bit of oiliness, and there was no orange water seeping out from under the food. You could actually taste tomato, and the spices, rather than just some slightly acidic red taste. Lasagna was a huge portion, actually a double in my mind. I ate until I was stuffed, and had enough left over to do that again the next day. There was sufficient cheese, and the meat was really tasty on its own, nicely seasoned. There is a great selection of deserts, and these days, premium cheesecake at $7.50 is a bargain. They offer tiramisu, which I love, but since I wanted to sleep that night I passed (the caffeine does a number on me now that I am old). I noticed some other reviews whining about pricing. Very hard for people to understand that restaurants are businesses, and they need to charge enough to pay staff, rent, overhead, food, and all the myriad of charges that small businesses have, plus produce enough profit so the owner decides the whole thing is worth the hassle. You want cheap food served? No problem, there are plenty of chain outfits around; don't complain when a premium restaurant charges enough to stay in business. Our two meals were a tad under $44 bucks, including tax. Given the absolute top quality of the food, and the size of the portions, in my mind, the dishes would have supported a extra $5 per. Testo's is for sale, and I hope that if it does sell the new owners respect what they bought and keep the tradition of truly superb food at reasonable prices going. I am amazed that after 40 some years in the area, and having driven by the place on business numerous times, that this is the first time I ate there. Our visit was prompted by a 94 year old relative, EXTREMELY fussy about food and more so about service, telling us what a great meal and experience he had there.

We decided to start with the arancini. They were as expected, a creamy and cheesy risotto, breaded and fried. They were a little bland, and the sauce was very spicy, which we were not expecting, but was fine. The bread brought to the table was very crusty, maybe stale, the pesto dip was nice and the cute "A" in the balsamic was a nice touch. We then moved onto our entrees which were great portions. I ordered the Veal Francese. It costs an extra $5 to put this over pasta, for a $25 dish. So to my understanding, this dish is $25 for a piece of veal in a sauce and a half a cup of zucchini ... that doesn't make sense. Just include the pasta in the price. But, the pasta was great. You could tell it was made in house and had a great texture. The sauce was a thickened lemon/wine/butter sauce. The flavor was great but it was a little goopy. It was thickened with something like cornstarch as opposed to being reduced. There are many notes here, but it was a perfectly fine dish. I took half of it home and enjoyed it later after the show. My friend ordered the sorrentina, which was chicken and eggplant. She loved the dish and it was enormous, I did not sample it but it looked great. This is just a run of the mill average Italian spot. The parm cheese offered for the dishes was a flavorless shaker brought to the table. If you're looking to be impressed, maybe not the best spot, but if you're looking for a quiet dinner to catch up with a friend, why not!
