Norris concrete out to my house to give me an estimate for a concrete job (2 sidewalks and a porch floor) and they came back with an estimate that was reasonable, and we gave them the go-ahead on April 23rd. They told us it would be approximately 2 weeks before they could come out. Then it was another 2 weeks before they could do it. Since then (it is now June 4th) they have been giving us the run around, saying they would be here last week to do it, but they never came and never called to update. I have personally left 4 messages, and my husband and father in law have also left several and have received no return phone calls. I've never experienced such terrible customer service. I needed this work done ASAP in order to sell my house, so I have now gone with another company (again, about 6 weeks after I told Norris to go ahead) who will be here tomorrow and pouring the concrete on Monday. I would never recommend J.A. Norris for concret work, based on my experience with their terrible service.

And the other spoke to me like I was born yesterday. I'm a 70 year old woman and resented that. Back to J&R Chavez Landscaping. Jose Chavez listened closely to everything I said and he and his employees carried out every task quickly and perfectly. In fact, way beyond what I had even hoped for and envisioned in the first place. I first started with just wanting a maintenance free yard going into the next summer. For over 20 years I had tried everything to get my yard to look like some kind of oasis, but because of our soil and shade issues being different all around, nothing ever worked. We have a very large yard full of trees. I planted here, there and everywhere, placed rock, walkways, and tried everything I could to make things nice. Since my husband and I are older now I just wanted a low maintenance yard that we could just enjoy instead of working on all the time. So Jose came in and turned the clock back on my yard 20 years to when it was just green and clean, and modernized the home at the same time. It started with small wants but on a grand scale. But everytime my requested projects were completed and I saw the quality of work in the outcome, I'd look again and see something else I wanted. Jose gave me a price for new work as we went along and we just kept going so far that I ended up getting a brand new front porch, beautiful landscaping, a newly painted pool deck, pavers, new indoor stair railings, and lots more open yard space with the removal of a lot of trees and seeding all around and widening the driveway area by cutting back a lot of brush and small worthless trees. Jose and his crew are very respectful, kind, and hardworking. The pricing has been consistently fair and I'm sure extremely competitive. Getting this work done was a very big deal for me money-wise and I am very pleased with all that has been done. My key Issues: Bait-and-Switch Pricing: The final quote was more than double the original agreed-upon price with vague and VERY inconsistent reasoning. Vanishing Deposit: When I chose to cancel due to the massive price hike, they claimed my entire deposit had already been "used up" on excavation. Lack of Integrity: They committed to a budget just to get the signature, only to move the goalposts immediately after. We are currently pursuing legal action to address these practices. This company is simply not worth the stress or the financial risk. I met many reputable masonry and concrete companies during my bidding phase--I strongly suggest you look elsewhere, you've been warned.
