Everyone was extremely helpful, as well as knowledgeable of the Trek brand. Glad to have them in Park Ridge

Kelsey recently helped me get back on the road with our tandem after I broke the rear rim!

All bike shops aren't equal. If you've been in a few I think you know what I'm talking about. I've…read morebeen an avid cyclist for decades and have had experiences in a ton of shops. Rudy's is a really good one. Took my custom road bike in for a tuneup once and they treated it like it was their own. The mechanic even asked if he could take it for a ride - he really loved it. (It's a vintage bike and quite spectacular if I do say so myself!). Even with vintage components they were able to work their magic and get it into perfect shape for another season of riding. When my wife's bike got stolen in broad daylight (it was locked and secured with a thick cable), we went right to Rudy's to buy a replacement. When they heard the story, they informed us that there is a national database of bikes listed as stolen. They offered to enter the serial number and picture (which we had) into the database should the bike ever be brought in to any participating dealer for service. Nothing has turned up but it's nice to know that such a resource exists. Every time I've been in there the people are friendly and the service is first rate. You can tell they really enjoy bikes and people who ride. Great place. My favorite bike shop in Chicago.

I live an hour away but Rudy's had a brand I was looking for and they were able to answer a bunch…read moreof questions for me and help me avoid shipping fees (the bike brand is mostly sold online). I ordered it with a deposit and they kept in touch throughout the process. I was pretty excited by the time I was able to drive out and pick up my new ride. What was very cool was how the folks working there came out to meet me and talk bikes for a bit. I got the impression they were genuinely excited for me. Anyhow, if you need a bike, bike service, or parts, I highly recommend Rudy's Cycle and Fitness (even if you're not super close). Can't beat a shop run by legit cycling fans.

I've had a hard time trying to frame this. I'll try this…read more I had to listen to a performative dood talk emanating from the floor worker to a customer about chain lubricant that went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on an on an on an on and on. And on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on. And on and on and on and on and on an on and on and on and on and on. It was a long time. I waited. And I waited some more. I did some serious waiting five feet away in a red sweater. No acknowledgment. No letting me know it might be a while. But that would've likely stopped the upselling I started to see. So I turned me and my bike around and left. It's hard for me to be on my feet that long. That's why I bike. Dood has a right to be into his subject matter. Usually shops want you to feel comfortable and respected as somewhat of a priority, even if you aren't being directly pitched at the moment... it just was not a good vibe. All doods working there when I was in. Way heavy on the dood vibe. Captive audience syndrome. Sigh. Dood has to do what a dood does. I avoid places like this. Going to the bike collective in Rogers Park instead next time.
