First off I will say that the menu online is incorrect due to somethings have changed, so if your going to order to go give a call first. Now to the best part. This restaurant is an excellent choice for dining, especially if you're craving a fantastic Ribeye steak. ​The customer service is consistently outstanding--the staff are attentive and ensure you're well taken care of. We've been here I believe three times, each time after hiking and each time with one or both of our dogs. We've eaten in the porch area with the tvs; had excellent service and delicious food. It's all incredibly flavorful, delicious and just the right amount. I have had two different steak salads, both fantastic. My husband had one of the sandwiches, wings and one of the salads--it was also quite pleased, which isn't always the case when we eat out. We arrived in town for a funeral and the hotel recommended the Wheelhouse when we asked where we should eat. I called at the last minute for a table for 8 and they were able to accommodate us. The staff was attentive and the food was exactly what we needed--tasty, well prepared comfort food. We each ordered something different and everyone enjoyed their food very much. I had the tri-tip flatbread with French fries. The portion size was huge! I could have easily split it with someone and still had plenty. My husband had the burger. It was smoky and juicy and had an excellent flavor. The French fries were top notch---crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Others in our party ordered: fish tacos, fish & chips, shrimp bisque, club sandwich, BLT sandwich, and mahi. The dessert menu looked great but we were all so full we decided to pass. But next time I will split a meal so I can try the blueberry cheesecake or key lime pie. We love this setting, feels upscale yet relaxed. Have never had wait staff that wasn't super friendly and efficient. Last visit we had chicken wings, brussel sprouts, & fried pickles and all were great! Creative bar. Great staff always friendly, the appetizers are perfect especially paired with wine, beer or martini. In a nearby town to see family. Wheelhouse looked like a good place to try...so we did, twice! Took one set of parents for dinner Friday night & loved the experience so much, we brought the second set of parental units back for lunch the next day. Service was outstanding. Can't give enough accolades to our server, Dan. He was spot on, from food recs to table service to conversation. And we had Breaydon ( sorry if I misspelled)as a server for lunch. Also great service and awesome recs. As far as the food, we couldn't have been happier. Between the 2 meals (in less than 24 hrs) we had "My Sharona " pizza ( iykyk)and it was fantastic. Smoked wings ( we ordered for both meals....should tell ya how good they were) and they did not disappoint either time, good size & well smoked) Fish & chips- I don't eat seafood, but my husband said it was awesome. Wheelhouse burger and Southern(?) burger with fried green tomato and pimento cheese looked VERY tasty and parents said both were great. Elvis fries were also yummy. I got the Wheelhouse salad with tri-tip. Great, fresh tasting salad. Tri tip might have been just a tad too salty for me but it definitely didn't stop me from eating it all! Got white chocolate bread pudding and key lime pie to go... both were delicious, btw. As for ambiance, nice laid back vibe. A little quiet for hubby & I ( we're kinda loud folks) but all 4 parents said it was perfect. Bathrooms were very clean. We went on a Sat. evening, about 6:30pm. The restaurant was not "busy" or crowded. Our initial greeting was curt, not inviting. We were a party of four and the wait was about 20 min, even though we could see unbussed tables the whole time. We ordered, but one of our party couldn't get her "favorite" because they were out of Tri Tip meat. It took OVER 45 min for our food to come to table. My wife & I both ordered the 8oz filet steak, Medium Rare. 1st of all, I have NEVER seen a Filet Mignon come to the table already cut in two 4oz pieces. Both were cooked Medium, not Medium Rare as requested. On top of being over cooked, mine was in "left under the heat lamp" condition. As far as the rest of the meal; the salad was excellent, the mashed potatoes may have come from a box (hard to say-not, much flavor for garlic potatoes). Their saving grace was our server, MADISON B. She was cheerful, polite, and competent. That said, I don't think that's enough to bring us back. read more

What we also thought we were getting, tho, was crust on the bottom - you know: something that the cheese would sit on, something that would hold the cheese up. It was like homemade macaroni and cheese without the macaroni. It was mozzarella sticks without the breading. It was a pool of greasy cheese with bread sticks around the edges holding it all in. I feel gross. Me and a co worker stopped in for a quick lunch and was not disappointed!! The inside of the restaurant has a kind of rustic comfortable feel to it feels like you can sit and hang out for a while. The food was very good! They have a wide selection of food from burgers to pasta and pizza. I got the wheel house burger and it was amazing! The patty was a little over cooked but the sweet bun made up for it. I got a side salad and it definitely wasn't what I was expecting presentation Wise. Some good friends took us to The Wheelhouse and said it is one of their favorite places. Tucked away in little Opp Alabama The Wheelhouse is a real gem. From the comfy rustic style of the beautiful old repurposed brick building to the friendly staff and well thought out menu you will find plenty to enjoy. We got burgers and seafood and chicken and it was delicious and plentiful . The wait time was short. The food was fresh and the prices were reasonable. We will definitely go back and we can recommend this restaurant 100%. read more

Visited this small town for leisure. Decided to check out this place. Outside looked so cute and inside looked even better. Decor is AMAZING. Being in such a small town, we had no idea how expensive this place was going to be. We decided to stay eventhough menu was fairly limited and most entrees were over $20. Chicken Alfredo looked excellent and presentation was perfect. Taste tho was so bland! Super disappointing. Spinach lasagna was about the size of the palm of my hand and over $20. Definitely not worth it. No sides are included with entries so that will cost you another $4-8. For two people our bill was over $78 and we left hungry. It was a real disappointment. read more

We were driving by Opp at lunchtime and almost didn't stop here due to one lame reviewer who trashed the place. It looked attractive from the outside though, new, big, and not at all a hole in the wall. The food was terrific as was the service. I would describe it as traditional and New South cuisine. The Shrimp Chowder-Bisque was terrific and my wife's "The" Chicken Sandwich lived up to it's menu buildup. Quick to seat us and take drink orders. Husbands drink was fine, I had Diet Dr Pepper and it was flat. We ordered conch fritters as husband had never had them. Conch was rubbery, not a lot of taste other than taste of batter of the fritters. Husband had the hamburger, patty was lukewarm at best, looked and tasted like it was a frozen patty, not fresh. Took forever for wait staff to bring condiments for burger, but he said the bun was terrific, best thing about the burger. Fries were just fries, not good or bad just fries. I had French onion soup e which was good. Nice beefy taste, plenty of onions. It's a nice looking restaurant, clean, I appreciated the missing man table as my husband is a veteran. Me and some friends came to town for the Rattlesnake Rodeo. We at lunch here and it was very good. The atmosphere was amazing and the food was great too. I had one of the blue collar specials and they had the tri tip salad. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was the cocktails could have been better, they weren't horrible by any means however. My husband and I came to this super cute restaurant last week. I thought the food was awesome and the service was great! I liked it so well that we stopped by again today on our way to Enterprise. We had another great experience. I had the French dip sandwich (delicious) and took some home with me. Also I had the key lime pie which is made on site. It was so good and enough for 2 to share. As a person who visits restaurants in Birmingham and Auburn/Opelika really often, I would say this restaurant stands tall beside any of them. Prices aren't too bad for sure. read more
