We are out on the patio by the lake. It was absolutely beautiful watching the sunset over the water. My man had the biggest ribeye they offered and I had snow crab. Both were wonderful. We will definitely be back with our boat tied to the ramp. read more

My husband and I were visiting for the weekend and both ordered the 12 oz ribeyes for to go. I got mine medium with onions and mushrooms, a loaded baked potato, and steamed veggies. He got his medium rare with sweet potato and fries. I wanna start by saying that the steaks were cooked PERFECTLY. However, they had ZERO flavor. It tasted like nothing. We would rather have a steak overcooked with good flavor than a perfect temp and no flavor. The potatoes were cooked nicely but also bland. They gave my husband butter and sour cream for his sweet potato... The service was amazing and fast! Staff were super friendly as well. We paid 65$ which isn't bad but we wish the food wasn't drowned in plain butter and no seasoning. Salt and pepper go a long way. read more

A couple of us in our party enjoyed our food for the most part. One person did not receive her food until long after the other members had eaten. The server told her it was given to another guest at another table but that they were preparing hers at that moment. Another 30 min went by. More promises of her food being prepared. Some of her food was ok but some wasn't edible. The manager offered a small discount. Needless to say, we found the service and the way it was handled unacceptable. The restaurant has a nice, cozy feel. It looked like it could serve about 200 people. Maybe things will improve for them. read more

I took a party of 6 out of town coworkers tonight. Two had shrimp and four had steaks. They ordered sirloin, ribeyes and a filet. Best fried shrimp I've ever had. Those who had steaks bragged on flavor and cooked to desired temp. You can't go wrong at the Buckboard!! read more

My rating of #1 is mostly, but not completely, a reflection of the poor service received on 01/15/26 from what appeared to be a hostess/server. The restaurant was reportedly short-staffed so I give them a "pass" for lack of promptness. However, the 30-40ish yoa server was extremely rude. Just one example follows. Many of our party ordered coffee (*which was apparently being made on a KEURIG, one-cup-at-a-time, we were later told). A 70ish yoa lady of our party respectfully remarked to the server she too had ordered coffee during one of the server's one-cup trips to the table and the server snapped back at her, "I can only bring one cup at a time, BE PATIENT". Not a request......, a hard admonishment to a polite grown woman diner, "BE PATIENT". As far as my meal; my ribeye and salad were good but the red beans & rice was "cardboard box" fare. The coffee; small cup & portion, one cup at a time delivery to the table, and no refill ever offered. Also beware; my initial "meal bill" came to the table for signature with an 18% gratuity already included (no problem there) but the bill format displays both another open Tip line above the signature line and a recommended TIP display below which could lead the unaware to "double tip" on the already CC fee added, tipped, taxed, and totaled meal bill. Had I just 20% tipped & signed out of habit, it would have taken my $65.96 meal-for-two from $85 total to $102. read more

My husband and I went for dinner only because one of the reviews had crab legs, they did not have crab legs. I got Mahi Mahi fish, baked potato, and coleslaw. ($28) The coleslaw was watery and grated extremely tiny, and my fish had a good flavor but the texture was like a wet diaper.... My husband order a burger ($15) and when he took the first bite everything but the patty squished out of the burger.. it was $15 for TWO bottles of Michelob, and we had mozzarella sticks for an appetizer... it came with 8 and two were so undercooked there were still stuck together ($15!!!!) grand total for the dinner was $89.11! The staff was great the outside seating and board walk was cute and convenient for locals but the quality of the food for the prices is crazy work... read more

We had a wonderful date night dinner last night listening to live music and enjoying a delicious generous plate of seafood snow crab legs. We started off with authentic Cajun style Gumbo and had a sample of the smoked gator sausage which was outstanding. The owners were very nice and so were the wait staff. Also, the steak being served at other patron's tables looked amazing. We will definitely be back to enjoy the other Southern and Cajun items on the menu! read more

Came in with friends. We got there last and joined them at a large table. Never got refills, some apps never came out. Sides never came with meals. Menu read "served on a bed of fries" but was charged for fries as a side. Menu also said calamari....we received oysters which both people that ordered the platter do not eat. When asked, the owners wife said, "That's what we have" and walked away. No drinks were refilled in the 2.5 hours we were there waiting on food. We asked for a manager as 31+ is a good bit of money to still be charged for fries and oysters instead of what's on the menu. The owners wife (we learned later) said the manager wasn't there. He had went home. Caught a different waitress, and she ended up being a blessing. She understood the situation and remedied it. Once the checks came, two people were charged 30 bucks for 9 sweet teas. (Mind you, noone got a refill at all) My ticket didnt have the correct meal on it which i was honest even though my meal was more than the ticket price. The never served apps and fries were still on the tickets. The wait staff manager fixed what she could and was very friendly. Sadly, the owners wife added 18% gratuity to every single ticket even though every single meal or ticket was a disaster and we did not come in as a group, just met and sat with friends. When asked if the tips would be split, I was told no, she would get everyones automatically applied tip. Beings the 2nd lady had to fix all the owners wifes issues, I gave her the cash I had on hand for her troubles. One couple at the table come in pretty often and mentioned that service had never been that bad before and they couldn't believe the amount and mistakes. As for the rest of us, doubt we ever give it a second try, If we do. We will certainly be asking for the owners wife not to be the waitress. Might save us 60 bucks for sweet teas we never even received, along with everything else.​ read more

Beautiful view of Gantt Lake, you can even dock your boat on their dock after a day on the lake to grab a bite to eat! Very lovely place to eat. Waterside and fun. All good was served on paper plates with exception to the main dish only. For $110 for three people I expect more. Service was good. Food was not worth the price to me. I think the old days were better sadly. I hope it is better for others as it is a good place to eat some things. Burgers and fries for me if I go back. read more

Nice scenic location... went for the sunset on the lake... after dinner walked out on the dock for a spectacular end to the evening.. Server was obviously new... she did well, but we could tell she was young and new...we were patient Food was delicious. Generous servings. Came out hot. But had to wait for tarter sauce for fish... Husband had catfish which he enjoyed, fried okra was outstanding and fresh! I had the shrimp étouffée, generous serving of shrimp and the spice was just right... not too spicy... Cheap beer $3 for a Yuengling Hubs was happy... No wait ... but was full by the time we left 6:30 pm Outdoor seating but was not open this night. Reservations recommended. I remember going here as a kid on my grandfathers boat. It was called indigo creek then. We would park the boat at the dock in the back. Buckboards food is average and the prices are ridiculously high. It could be the good memory's clouding my judgment, but I won't be coming back. read more

We dined here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. I had the chicken with a side salad with blue cheese. My lettuce had a lot of brown spots, but my chicken was really good. Husband had the shrimp creole. It was good, but very small portions. Service was okay, just slow. Would come back for drinks, as there is a really cool bar on the river. read more

Found this "hole in the wall" through yelp and Wow! Started with bang bang shrimp ... super surprised with the size of the shrimp, crispness and the bang bang sauce was right on. Husband and I shared the blackened mahi-mahi and ordered two side salads. Mahi-mahi came out super moist and lots of flavor. Glad we shared the entree, we had enough room for a slice of home made strawberry cheesecake. Don't ignore the 5 stars. read more

This a family owned restaurant and it does not disappoint. The food was delicious, the service was excellent and the scenery was divine. The hours of operation are Tuesday-Thursday 4pm-8pm, Friday-Saturday 4pm-9pm. We went around 5:30pm on a Tuesday and it was not crowded. We will definitely go again, but next time around sunset because our waiter told us they are beautiful! read more

We are camping in the area but wanted a nice dinner out and this was definitely the place!! Food was fabulous! Best tuna steak I have ever had! And my husband's grouper was great too. Service was amazing and the owner even checked on our table several times. Wish we had more time to go back again this trip but you can be sure we will return the next time we are in the area. Absolutely delicious Sunday lunch. Great service. Very nice atmosphere! Definitely coming back for an evening meal!

We have eaten at this restaurant around a dozen times. The food has always been very good and the service has been great too. We held a Sunday School Class social at the restaurant, when we arrived it was pouring rain. The restaurant sent some of their employees to the parking lot with umbrellas to keep us dry (above and beyond). The Buckboard is a little off of the beaten path but well worth the drive. The scenery is always interesting but especially now with Gantt Lake being drained. read more

The decor is really nice, and it has a beautiful lake view. The menu is very limited and overpriced for what you get, especially the deserts. The hamburgers are super, but sometimes you want something other than a hamburger. We have been several times giving them a chance to get on their feet, but it seems to be declining rather than improving. They are also only open Th-Sun. Between that and the limited menu it just isn't worth it. read more
