I have a Dacor range. Two of the 4 burners would not ignite. I called an appliance repair shop which did not return my phone call. I then phoned another repair shop in Oak Harbor. They were very nice but said they don't repair Dacor ranges...BUT...highly recommended Whidbey Appliance Repair. They said Travis, the service technician and owner was stellar and to give them a call. WOW! They were right! He said he would be by between 1-3pm. He got here at 2. He diagnosed the problem right away and it was all repaired quickly. He was very professional, kind and courteous. EXCELLENT in all categories. FIVE STARS! From the first call to the email of the invoice, I felt the era of American Customer Service has not disappeared. Liz handling the incoming and return calls, pleasant and friendly. It felt like she cares. They called the evening before to confirm the appointment and then the next morning to confirm the time they would arrive. Upon arrival the problem causing the ice maker to leak was promptly identified and they had the part with them to replace it. In and out in about an hour with the problem fixed! Travis completely took advantage of my elderly mother. Came in to her home, took a look at her dryer and said he couldn't do anything. Demanded $121+ on the spot, so my mother paid him. He promised to send a receipt via email, but did not do so. The dryer was completely repaired the following day by a competent and honest repair person with no issues. I will be reporting to the BBB and Attorney General. Elder abuse. read more

The replacement you put in was plugged into a laptop and found to be faulty and the original one which I kept was put back in and works flawlessly. Mine is not the only negative review of your "service". AND your refund check WAS bad! The bank called your office to let them know YOU had written a check with insufficient funds to cover it. read more

Scheduled a service call with Whidbey Appliance. After 12 years we decided to move the washer a couple of feet. It was no longer level and would start to "walk" during the spin cycle. Travis did a very good job. Washer was level and did not "walk" while he was at the house. It start to walk again when I did a full load. Travis was back a few days later and fixed the problem the best he could. Gave me suggestions on what I could do if it "walked" again. I'm ready with the fixits but the washer has not moved an inch. The 2nd trip was under their warranty, that was a surprised. Great job, will use them again. read more

The two stars are only for friendliness and the prompt scheduling. They charge 90 just to go to your house. That is a crazy amount of money just for driving! A taxi ride across the island cost less. I spent all my money just paying for the technician to come out and look at what was wrong. I understand the price for fixing, but I paid 125 just for them to come out! I will always ask price to come out and diagnose from here on. I could have put that money toward a new dryer. And now I'm out $125 and still don't have a dryer, and a giant pile of dirty laundry. read more

Follow up to my previous review...After Judd and Black came out to look at our refer they discovered it simply needed the air flow knob adjusted in the freezer; a 30 second, no charge fix. Haven't had a problem since, and Whidbey Appliance told us it was irreparable! Turns out they're actually worse than I'd thought (and that was pretty bad already)!! read more

I would love to give them 5 stars for their service and professionalism ONCE they are at your house, but their scheduling system is asinine and only serves their convenience, at the cost of the customer. When you call, they schedule you for a day. You have to keep that entire day open and void of any appointments, so they can call you that morning to give you a 2 hour window. I was told that they collected all the appointments for that day and map out the most convenient route for them, and that "customers could just leave their doors unlocked" if they couldn't be there for the appointment! If other service companies are able to efficiently schedule appointments (including plumbers, electricians and HVAC companies that are also dealing with possible emergency situations), I am sure Whidbey Appliance can too, but it boils down to them not WANTING to revamp their scheduling system, because it works fabulously for them. I will not use them ever again, and only had to repeatedly deal with this issue, because they apparently have contracts with a number of warranty services. I am sorry, I am not a fan of 4 hour appointment windows, but at least I can schedule my day around it. read more

I feel bad about giving such a low star rating. They were kind and the technician who came out to the house was kind when he was here. Bought my washing machine brand new in the middle of November. Started having issues with it in January. My washing machine is under warranty that they were contracted to fix. They made the initial appt for a week after I called my washing machine company (LG) The tech came out and looked at the washing machine and had to order the correct part. A week passed before the next appt could be made and the part was in. After he came the second time and installed the part in the machine it still was not working. He told me he would turn the report in to LG so that we could go ahead with getting my washing machine replaced or refunded. I waited a week without hearing anything before I called. It has now been SIX WEEKS since he came out the second time and said the washing machine is not repairable. I have called Whidbey as well as LG numerous times to get Whidbey to turn in their report to LG. Every time I call the owner tells me this is something his technician is supposed to do and he will talk to his tech. SIX WEEKS have passed and they can not get their stuff together to turn in the info needed! I have been without a washing machine for over 8 weeks and in the meantime I have been having to take our laundry to the laundry mat. This is unacceptable! I would definitely not recommend doing business with this company! read more

Not too impressed with these people. First of all, my wife took the day off of work to wait for the repair man. No one showed. No one even called. 150 dollars down the drain in lost wages. My wife has to take another day off to wait, but this time he showed up and found the heating element burnt out. Of course they didn't have one in stock, and they said it would take 5 business days to get in the mail!(I guess they don't know about overnight express delivery) Then when they received it they couldn't get out to our house for 2 or 3 more days after that. I guess they showed me for complaining. I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone. Unless you like to wait around and loose money. Or hang out at the laundromat. read more

We would like to highly recommend Whidbey Appliance Service for kitchen appliance repair. We have a Kitchen Aid built in convection microwave that quit last year. It would not start and displayed the "DOOR" message on the control panel indicating the system thought the door was open when it was not. A Sears appliance repairman was unable to find and fix the problem and couldn't even gain access to the electronics of the microwave. That visit cost $100+. Then we contacted Travis at Whidbey Appliance Service who came out and easily removed the micro from the wall and opened up the electronics. He replaced the door switches which would normally be the underlying problem for that situation. Unfortunately, that did not resolve the problem. But Travis did not give up there. He then contacted the Kitchen Aid factory experts to discuss the problem. As a result of that call, Travis was given another possible cause of the problem - a fuse that is not widely known. He obtained that fuse and came back, replaced that fuse, a burnt out light and a failed diode. And that resolved the problem. Based on Travis' tenacity and extra effort to resolve our microwave problem, we highly recommend him to anyone who has problems with kitchen appliances, especially the Kitchen Aid built in convection microwaves.
