Location - You have to drive for a bit outside of Brainerd/Baxter but you are right on the beautiful shores of Gull Lake. If you don't know anything about Gull Lake, it is one of the top lakes in the area. Big and beautiful lake - great for boating, fishing and swimming. Rooms & Building - This place has been around for quite some time and still gives off those old school lake resort vibes. I used to come here as a kid for a weekend getaway and some of the things have not changed one bit. Ha. All in all, they have kept up with maintenance for the most part. The rooms do show wear and tear but for how old they buildings actually are, you would expect worse. I kind of like the old-fashioned classic look - gives the building more history and a story than if they would bulldoze it and build modern. Amenities - The resort is loaded with things to do including a full-size gymnasium and ball court, a couple pools, arcade, hot tub, outdoor recreational activities, golf course, etc. Food - There are a few bars and restaurants onsite. We got pizza one night for dinner at the poolside restaurant and it was pretty good. Large size and priced very fairly for resort food. Vibe - Easy going and super friendly staff. No complaints. Reality vs. Online - Pictures that I saw on their website and online matched the quality and condition of the hotel and rooms in-person. No surprises. Price & Final Verdict - It is a classic location in the heart of Brainerd Lakes. It is different than just a "hotel stay" or smaller resort stay. It is a unique experience that one should not miss. Give it a try - great place for a weekend getaway with family and/or friends.

We didn't want to pay the equipment rental prices so we brought in our own inflatable kayak, and didn't get in any trouble. It's a beautiful lake, and we really enjoyed the view from the upper level deck near the Pizza place, which definitely had a good pizza! They gave us the wrong one, so I don't know what we actually got, but it was good. Thankfully they let us in to eat Pizza because upon arrival their system was down and we couldn't check into our room. The worker behind the counter seemed to be doing the absolute best minimum and wasn't super friendly. After lunch we checked back in and thankfully there was a much more competent and friendly person there to help us out. The system was still partially down, but he was able to give us some details on the status of our room and encouraged us to still enjoy all the amenities until we could check in. As another review mentioned the shower head was uncomfortably low for me, but I'm 6'6" tall so it's probably fine for most people. The indoor pool is quite nice and not overly chlorinated, no burning eyes from the fumes is great. My last thing is the way finding. I think part of it was the room we got (162). It was completely alone and not by any other rooms which made it hard to fine. Also certainly not as good of a view as upper level rooms. But in general there was very little signage and a lot of confusing stairwells with unknown destinations. We only stayed for the weekend, but I didn't feel very confident finding my way even at the end of our stay, so I feel like there could be an improvement there. It seems to be a good value for the money in this area and I would say it's worth checking out!

There is no laundry or mail service. Seasonal spots are very clean, which tells me the owners have high standards. By the main office the lots are level and grassy. It's geared towards self-contained units. There is one toilet with a few showers far from the camping area. I could probably squeeze my 45' MH in here. It's definitely travel trailer and 5th wheels or a smaller MH. It is family focused. The lower level of the campground is on the shores of the Platte River and the Mississippi. Very grassy, treed spots that are level. A nice play ground near the bathrooms which are clean but the showers are up the hill. These are W/E only sites. This place is big and meticulously. For that reason, the family/workers are very curt with their answers as they are there to work and not socialize. So if you are looking for warm fuzzies you will not find them here. This place is on the higher end. To camp nowadays it is expensive. Visitors have to pay an entrance fee. Wood is $6/bundle. No foreign wood allowed. For any campground/RV resort, always read all the rules and regs before you make your reservations. They can usually be found on the website.

BUST OUT YOUR FISHING FISHPOLE. BUT THERE'S NO FISH. They only care about money. You are arms length from the next campground literally arms lengths with no trees. Lol. Also plan on walking half a mile to the bathroom you're not using it outside once again no trees. If you wanna call that campground, I'm not sure. All the tubes were deflated and down and neglected. They have a rule against leaving rugs or mats in front of your tents. Dont bring your own fire wood because they insist on making you pay for theirs. You walk to their gift shop and they charge you 45.99 for a hammock. And $70 for a regular camping chair. Lololoololol!!!! Don't go here. Oh and their fake dog park has grass up to my knees. Hopefully this review helps you guys figure out your life.

As far as campsites go I thought Crosslake was pretty good. They have a beach with a swimming area,…read moresites both with and without electricity, stalled bathrooms with showers, evening activities and enforced quiet hours. They ask that you purchase their "certified" firewood for $6 a bundle and the woodshed is only open from 6pm-8pm so make sure you get there before they close and buy enough to last. The sites that are on the edge of camp are really tough to sleep at because they are right next to the main road so all night you hear cars speeding by. But it was a fairly quiet campground during the day and even with neighbors you have privacy and peace. I also wish there was an area with softer ground for tents. It was very difficult to pitch in the gravel because they stakes didn't want to go in and there were lots of sharp rocks trying to poke up through the bottom of the tent. Everything in town is within walking distance and there are trails everywhere. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table. I was surprised by how few mosquitoes there were and wonder if the campground sprays for them. I really think my son would have a good time here so I want to bring him and update my review based on his experience too. But I would come back because we had a good time!
