One 8 hour fishing day later...we caught 3 big Mahi Mahi. These were so fun to reel in. Captain Will is super knowledgeable and capable. He steered us through some choppy water, and found the best spots for fish! Tom gave great insight into how to reel and get the fish on board. He went above and beyond keeping the boat clean, packing the fish we caught in ice, monitoring the rods, etc. They make a great, friendly team. I've been on a handful of charters, and this was definitely the best. We had a blast. I'm sure we'll be talking about this for years to come!

Awesome day out! Completely checked the bucket list item of catching some HUGE fish. Profesional and knowledgeable staff!

    Ono

We are familiar with the concept that it is "fishing" and not called "catching" for a reason so we set our expectations appropriately. However, my husband ended up catching the exact fish he was hoping for, an Ono. We don't get too many of those in Southern California! We also caught a Mahi-mahi in the first hour of being out on the water. Captain Will and Tom are accommodating, kind and very knowledgeable. You get what you pay for and I have a feeling this won't be the last time we go out on the Whipsaw. (TIP: We had scopolamine patches and didn't feel even slightly sick, even though it got a little rough out there.)

Booked this on a last minute deal and got on a shared charter . I was hoping for a nice fish to mount. We had a few hits through the day then about half way through a reel started buzzing. We had hooked into a monster blue marlin it took every man on board to bring him in and weighed 471 lbs we all had a blast Id definitely recommend hitting them up if you are in the area

amazing trip !! ...and this was the smallest one !!!

These guys are the Best !! We booked this trip for our kids and grandkids..full day trip ..Our son (who is an avid fisherman said "it was the trip of a lifetime !! one I will never forget !!" They owner was amazing..kept in contact with us, due to possible inclimate weather and direction to the slip...Thanks Jim !! The crew Will and Tom ...I wish I could give them 10 stars !! Such great guys !! so personable, knowledgable and fun... they caught 3 blue marlin.. the biggest was about 350#.. brought lots of meat home for BBQ that night... Such an amazing time..it was truly the highlight of their visit !!We'll book again for sure !!

Will and Isaac were amazing. Would 100% recommend Whipsaw. Friendly, professional, great attitude.

Great catch and worth the fight!

Had a great day on the water with Mike and Nate! My daughter's first ever ocean water fish catch was nearly a 250 pound Marlin! Couldn't have been more thrilled with the outcome. They were very informative on safety and what to do when you have a big fish on the line. Nate walked her through reeling in the big catch every step of the way and Mike's boat driving skills were helpful and necessary. A real team effort to get this one in the boat, only wish we could have brought home some to eat! Thank you Whipsaw!!

Beautiful boat! With air conditioning inside!

amazing crew!! Went for a half day and captain Will was amazing. Will DEFINITELY be back. Got a nice Mahi. Apparently under new management.

Nice boat. Workers were friendly, but quickly went to the bridge and rarely talked. No bites during the day but it happens.

Parking is available near the boat for a pay by hour cost using one of two apps. Their timeline for return was accurate, and we even got to a point of being out where we had enough and were ready to return a little early. Bathrooms are available in a nearby building with key from the boat, or on the boat itself. A majority of the people on the boat took motion sickness medicine prior to the trip to avoid any issue. It was consistent waves the whole trip with no stopping so be prepared. The boat has a covered area with table and seats, along with air conditioning and fans. We brought some snacks and a cooler with drinks and food that we put out on the table for all to consume as desired. The crew put the lines in the water for the large fish which we didn't catch any of. Apparently the reel spins when a fish is on the line and you jump on it to reel it in. I've never been sport fishing to know the feeling of reeling one in or seeing one reeled in. After some time waiting for something to hit and everyone getting tired, they put the smaller poles in the water and allowed people to hold them trolling. This is how we caught the fish we did catch that ranged in size from probably 12-20". They put up a little fight and we lost a few along the way that could've been much larger but we'll never know. Upon return, a neighbor boat gave us a 25 lb fish they caught since the crew was cleaning our catch. I don't eat fish but my wife is very happy with what we brought home. The crew was very helpful in trying to provide a pleasurable experience by helping with the poles, advising, and cleaning fish to take home. Overall a great experience and we would likely return hoping to catch something larger.

Bob was honest from the start and let us know he wouldn't take us out if the weather didn't get any better. Thankfully the weather cleared up for the day and we were able to make it out. I've been dropping by every time we're back on the islands for over 20 years, and it's still the first stop off the plane. I will say though, service can be a little rough sometimes. Some days are good, some days not so much. But honestly, that's never been the point of this place. You're not coming here for some polished haole sales pitch of some sort, you're coming because these guys know what they're doing and they'll get you what you need so you can get back in the water. And that's where they really shine. Need a j tube? They've got it. Need a new band? They can fab it up in like 5 minutes so you can still make it to the spot on time. They almost always have exactly what I need in stock and at a fair price. You'll see some of the best divers in the islands and honestly, some of the best in the world just casually stopping in. The shirts and designs are also totally underrated. They've got their own local style and I've of course picked up a few over the years and they hold up good. Hanapa'a is one of those rare functional places you can always rely on. it's rooted in the community, and it delivers when it counts. If you dive, you already know. If you don't, this is where you start. Just don't be a Karen and you'll be good.

Avoid This Tour - Unprofessional and Poorly Managed I had a…read morevery disappointing experience with this fishing tour and would strongly advise others to avoid it. First, the check-in address provided in the confirmation email was outdated. I followed the instructions, took an Uber to the listed location, and only discovered it was wrong after calling the company. I then had to take another Uber to their actual location to make it on time. This kind of logistical error is unacceptable and shows a lack of basic communication. When I finally arrived, I was told I needed to pay an additional $2 due to some law. That would've been fine -- if it had been mentioned anywhere in the confirmation email. Worse, they only accepted cash, or required a minimum $10 purchase to use a card. I didn't have cash on me, and when I asked if I could Venmo, the front desk staff rudely repeated that it was "cash only." When I asked where in the email this was mentioned, he falsely claimed it was included -- but when I showed him the email and asked him to point it out, he avoided the question and repeated the same line. There was no apology, just a cold attitude. In the end, other kind tourists helped us out of the situation -- not the staff. As for the tour itself: the instruction was minimal. When I asked how I would know if there was a bite, I was simply told, "You'll know it," with no further explanation. My fishing spot was poorly placed -- right in the middle of one side of the boat -- and with the wind, my line kept getting blown underneath. I kept recasting, but it didn't help. Eventually, a staff member tried fishing from the same spot and caught nothing either. Clearly, this was a bad spot for fishing in those conditions, but they assigned it anyway. Overall, this tour was disorganized, poorly managed, and left a very bad impression. Save your money and book a tour with a more professional, courteous company.

First, when I was scheduling this fishing trip, they told us that we would be able to keep some of the fish that we caught, they told me that they would offer a discount once we got there and they gave us the location to meet . We showed up at the meeting location and my family along with three other families were waiting. We called the company and found out that they changed the meeting spot. So we had to walk 30 minutes to the next location which, they said if we didn't make it in time they were going to leave without us, they told us that it was catch and release, and they would no longer offer us a discount. Once we were on the boat there were about 22 people and maybe seven fish were caught, the workers were all fishing instead of trying to help us catch fish. I was very disappointed.
