Service was slow, but the place was busy so we didn't think too much of it. Had trouble finding a table that didn't have a huge wobble in it. Drinks took forever, then food came out lukewarm. Fajitas were barely warm and mooshy, like they had been cooked earlier then reheated. Ordered a Burrito bowl with guacamole on the side- came smothered in guac. We ended up eating the burrito bowl like a dip, it had so much guac. Had to flag down a different server for refills on almost-stale chips and drinks. Given one napkin each, never brought more. The atmosphere was nice, restaurant was clean, so we had high hopes. They had a wait forming as we left, guess everyone will figure out soon enough that looks alone won't keep you open. read more

I tried Whiskey Taco for the first time yesterday and I have to say, it was REALLY good. Unfortunately, it took nearly two hours to arrive via Grub Hub and wasn't very fresh, so it may be even better next time! I loved the combination of the pineapple and cilantro on the taco al pastur. We hadn't been here for a couple of months and we probably won't be back. We went on a Friday evening and the first tipoff should have been that the place was virtually empty. After we were seated, if took at least 10 minutes for someone to take our drink orders. In the meantime, at least 6 employees were milling around at the cashier stand. Completely unacceptable. While we were waiting we were treated to the odor of Pine-Sol while they mopped the floor. Pleasant. Then we seemed to be tag teamed between two waiters, neither of whom could remember our orders and kept returning to check what we wanted Food was palatable when it arrived although it was lukewarm. We have eaten at Whiskey Taco many times. Our favorite dish is the Roqueta (can't go wrong with carnitas and cheese!). The table side guacamole is also worth the slightly higher price and is delicious. Service is generally prompt and courteous. We have had a couple of mix ups with side dishes before, but the staff always makes it right. Glad to have Mexican street corn available! Their drinks are also very good, and I usually get the sangria. Word to the wise-their strawberry frozen margarita is NOT a beginners drink- only get one if you have nowhere to be and nothing to do for awhile! read more

This is the last time I will visit Whiskey Taco. First the server was amazing but that was about it. The appetizer came out frozen. The food came out cold to the touch. Well, it was my daughter's birthday, we get in and our server takes our drink order. Comes back and was noticeably distracted while trying to take our order. I told my wife immediately that he was watching the cheerleaders at the back table and I bet he screws up the order. 45 minutes later he comes back and says the kitchen lost our ticket, and he had to take our order again. Then the food comes out in stages, our drinks are empty, and he asks if we want refills. 15 minutes later I just ask for boxes and the check. The refills never showed up and he brings our extra napkins when he brings the boxes. We won't give it another try. read more

Pretty good food but pretty bad service. There is a lot to choose from here, none of it seems to be authentic Mexican which I think is the point having been to the owner's other restaurant The Tortilla Factory in Barboursivlle. It was hard to choose what we wanted on the menu but we ended up going with the taco trio (Korean BBQ, Mole, and one I can't remember), the Jimidor Burrito, and the Pineapple Express Fajitas. We really liked the Korean and other taco, but the Mole, while okay, had an odd taste to it. My s/o really liked the giant 12" burrito, I'm surprised though that this place charges $1.50 for sour cream, and the Pineapple Express was well seasoned and I would definitely eat it again. While the tacos were a bit on the small side for $10, the fajitas have made three meals for me and the burrito is two meals by itself. The service... wow, that left a lot to be desired. We ordered hard shell corn tortillas for our tacos and got soft shell. Also, we were given approximately two napkins. We ordered food you have to eat with your hands and you give us two? When my s/o wanted sour cream and queso dip (and a few more napkins) our waitress was no where to be found, after he was several inches into his meal I finally flagged down a different waitress who I assume brought the manager over? Eventually she came back with our request. Our original waitress finally appeared a while later and brought us four more napkins. The real icing here though was that when she brought those, she sat someone elses empty plate in our taco trio tray that we were only half finished with (without asking if we were done) and was in the process of taking it away and would have if I hadn't said anything. And it was only at this point that I was offered a refill. From other reviews, I guess the service is hit or miss. I recommend the food though and would go back for that. read more

Well....it's not was I was hoping and praying for, that's for sure. This was a takeout order, and the service was friendly. However, it didn't compensate for the food. I gave two star mercy because the guacamole wasn't horrible. But my Nachos were the worst...soggy and no real flavor. Fried ice cream literally looked like Cinnamon Toast Crunch and ice cream. Went up to the hostess and asked for 3 at the bar. They radioed to the bartender that 3 would be coming and handed us our menus to seat ourselves. After approaching the bar it was obvious 3 wouldn't fit because everyone there seated was scattered. A waitress let the bartender know and the bartender said it wasn't their problem. A manager then came to ask why we were standing and we needed another seat and we told her our situation. Her response was to say that we couldn't wait by the bar you'll have to go out your name in for a table like everyone else. The bar was 50% full!! Horrible management and bartender. Won't be back. I would have this a zero if I could. We went in and there was one person ahead of us in line. No one else was in the lobby area. They seated the party ahead of us and asked me how he could help me. I said we had a party of 5 and he told me it would be 45-50 minutes. There was no one else there. When I questioned him, he said he had many many people ahead of us. Like where ?? Food: Good quality food with more authentic characteristics. Enjoy the variety of the menu and know that you're getting better stuff than all those cookie-cutter AmeriMexican restaurants out there. I recommend the fajitas and pretty much any of the tacos especially the Whiskey, Mole, Beer Battered Shrimp, and Korean (probably my fave), salsa/guacamole, and nice warm tortillas. Service: Decent and friendly. They were certainly busy, so expect a longer wait at times. Price: Not cheap, but worth it. Atmosphere: It is apparent that they put quite a bit of effort in the decor. Looks good! Interior has a good amount of seating (some tables are closer together than I prefer) and volume level is loud. This is a sister-store to Tortilla Factory in Barboursville, WV, and it definitely shows in the quality of food and variety of the menu. This was my first time eating at whisky taco. We had a large party, so a wait was to be expected. We were told 30 minutes, it was closer to 50, still no prob. Our server takes our orders, comes back to double check that I had in fact ordered corn tortillas with my tacos al pastor. Tacos Al Pastor generally consist of thin pork marinated in white vinegar and annato paste, layered with onion and cooked on a spit while pineapple roasts on top. The meat is sliced off into the tortilla and topped with the roasted pineapple. Pretty delicious! What I received was dry, overcooked pork with ZERO flavor, thrown on a tortilla with raw onion and canned pineapple. Some of the worst tacos I've ever eaten. That's just the food, the server didn't write down anyone's order, so he had to keep returning to the table to re-take orders. We waited for drink refills for over 20min. One person in our party didn't get their food until 10min after everyone else. I asked for the manager, he told me "those are our flavors" when I questioned the al pastor tacos. The LACK of flavor and technique is the issue here. This place is NOTHING special, the food is mediocre at best and the service is awful. I would recommend literally ANY other run of the mill Mexican restaurant before this place. read more

I'll start this review by stating that the service here is decent, my party was greeted at the door and promptly seated. Our server was quick and one thing that caught my eye was servers wasn't really designated so we saw 4 different people. Which in my opinion could cause confusion on orders or for guests due to tips and such. The cheese dip is mediocre, but the salsa was spot on had wonderful mix of spice and herbs. Once our food was ordered it took some time and I had ordered a chicken fajita lunch special. Once the food arrived I was disappointed that the fajita only came with three small tortilla shells to go with the large amount of chicken and rice I had on my plate. Otherwise I can't complain too much as the food was good and service wasn't horrible. As with all reviews no one will earn a Five star rating as this represents perfection and no is perfect. So a 3/5 for decent service and decent food. read more

Heavy rock for dinner music? Bad bad choice. Especially in a Mexican Restaurant The food service is excellent. The food is just mediocre. Why in the world would you not serve beans and rice with the Classic entree Enchiladas Verdes? Or a little side salad? It had plain old enchiladas with nothing else. The pork shoulder tacos were dry as a bone. Anything that isn't the house margarita is just acceptable. Give me a little more simple syrup in the cucumber margarita and tequila while you are at it. We stopped here traveling on I-64 and taking a little detour through the valley. It was a Sunday afternoon and tHe first place we tried was closed. We stumbled upon Whiskey Taco and had a great lunch! My husband had the barbacoa meat fried chimichanga and I had the tings chicken Both were full of flavor and cooked just right. Very disappointing. My daughter had heard of this place and really wanted to try it. So we went there for lunch. She ordered a bowl and I had the Shrimp Avocado Salad. Both came in a huge bowl. Mine had mostly spring leaves with very little shrimp and avocado. They gave me one dressing that was not very tasty. When the server checked with us, I asked for some ranch dressing and for my daughter's guacamole. My other daughter had ordered three soft tacos. Neither she nor I were pleased with our food. My other daughter enjoyed her bowl but never did get her quac. To top it all off, the sweet tea was not good either. Don't think we will be back. read more

this place has a serious health and food safety problem! multiple failed core inspections including but not limited to: raw meat stored over dry food, dry food stored on the floor within sight of rodent droppings & insects, no soap or sanitizer in employee handwashing sinks, mold in all drink machines, rodent dropping traces on food utensils, nobody is properly trained or certified in food saftey standards, unkempt/unsanitary bathrooms, not to mention repeated violations for unclean cooking equipment/prep tables/sinks/soiled coolers/soiled dry storage with signs of rodent droppings next to bags of rice & sugar... i could go on & on. its outrageous this resturant is still open and operating when clearly the workers are not cleaning or even trained how to. gross. read more

Well, let me start by saying the food was not bad, I've definitely had better being from California but other than the food, this was my first time here and it was horrible. The service was subpar, 10 mins after I arrived, finally someone came to take my drink order, even though I was there with friends and they already had drinks....from there, the experience went down. A friend of mine was there with his wife, who was the (DD) and after a few drinks, the manager came over and said he would no longer serve him since he was "slurring his words" well the manager never heard him speak until we tried to order shots and shut him down based off of the waitresses observation. (We were not at the bar) I was trying to order two separate shots, and the manager got upset and only allowed me to order one after walking away. Oh well. However, I tried to speak to the manager on the way out and his reasons for not serving my friend did not make sense. He stated that if my buddy was in an accident when he left, they would be held accountable ( cops won't hold an establishment accountable unless they are underage) but my buddy had a DD. Also, that it was a "family establishment". He would not tell me if he received complaints from other customers and stated that "this is not a bar" keep in mind, they have a full size bar in the restaurant. "Alcohol kills people" he says... but won't acknowledge the fact that the food they serve contributes to obesity, that also kills people......Bet he wouldn't deny a big person ordering some food or a kid who shouldn't be eating what they are ordering .....I was trying to have a conversation with the manager, but he would not let me talk and kept cutting me off and eventually walked away. Never in my life have I experienced a place like this and will not be back, which was told to the manage, and he didn't care....so customer service is not one of their priorities, making money off food is. I don't care either, they can "feel" like they won but this place sucks if you're trying to have a good time. read more

We really like going here. Do we like everything on the menu? No, but we have some fantastic go-to meals and we like the beer selection. I probably will never eat in the main dining area because it is just too open and crammed together for my taste. We always request a high top towards the back, even if we have to wait. One other annoyance is the amount of Birthday songs sung in a given night. It's a little distracting. The serving staff is always good from our experiences. read more

This place is amazing! Authentic Mexican street food prepared FRESH! When my food came, even the onions were just chopped. The wait staff is great, the setting is beautiful, the prices were very reasonable, but the food was just incredible! My only "complaint" would be that the ceilings are high and open, so sound carries. Great acoustics, but lends itself to a noisier environment. Not obnoxious, but definitely not a place for quiet conversation,lol. Can not wait to go back! read more

We spent over $80 for takeout. Waited 15 minutes longer than we were promised. The guy on the phone said "we had to be there" at this certain time. Got there 10 minutes prior. Had to wait outside.
