Follow the bubbles and you'll find yourself at the steps of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot or 'WTF' to locals. WTF is an outdoor bar where the bar is in the middle, allowing accessibility to all patrons. On the sides of WTF, you have a food truck in the back left called "A.D.'s" serving pretty cheap and actually pretty good bar food (ie: Smash Burger, BLT, Chicken Strips, etc), a Wii and/or Nintendo 64 for you to release your inner child in the back, and on the right, you have a stage where live entertainment for the night will perform. Strangely, you can order bottle service here, but I wouldn't recommend it, as it's just not the right vibe. read more

Service was bad. Bartenders are rude and unprofessional. Coming from someone in the industry, this establishment should remember " service with a smile". Especially if you're already getting automatic gratuity. Bouncers ask invading questions and treat you with disrespect. Besides the blatant unprofessionalism, the ambience is nice. read more

I visited whiskey tango foxtrot on a particularly cold Friday night. All of their lamp heaters were on, so obviously, I sat as close as possible to one, and it was nice! They are outdoor but under a almost completely enclosed plastic tent. There are a few high tables to sit at that are spaced out (can't say whether it's 6 feet apart though). They've created a flagpole pulley with the table number. When you need a waiter, you raise the table number. After you've been served, you lower the card. Much easier process than waving down a waiter. We listen to a great life band, and we were definitely six or more from the stage. Staff were mask and instructed patrons on mask protocol upon entering. We ordered seasonal cocktails--Mexican hot toddy and Mexican hot chocolate. The Mexican hot chocolate was not a good blend. The alcohol was over powering. The Mexican hot toddy was absolutely perfect though. It was worth the try! FYI: 20% gratuity is automatically added to your order. read more

Super fun bar that offers live music performances Friday-Sunday nights. The bands are usually talented, so it's a pleasure to spend the night out and feel like life is back to normal. Masks are not enforced inside, so if that's a problem, this is not a place for you. The place gets really packed on weekend nights, so you'll be very close and personal, dancing with half-drunk strangers in an overpacked space. This is definitely very fun, but it's not for everyone, so be warned. The band takes a break at 10pm, so be aware that there won't be live music for 15ish minutes. Great bar for enjoying music and getting the genuine feel of Austin. Support this venue! Too many places have closed doors due to COVID and Austin is a bleak shell of what it used to be. read more

I ordered a burger here. The guy cooking my burger kept staring at me (weird). Next morning I woke up with explosive diarrhea, then had a fever up to 101 later in the day. Pretty much my entire Austin trip was ruined and I was confined to my hotel room. The stomach issues lasted almost a week and I lost 6lb. When I ordered a drink here, the drunk ass bartender was flirting with some girls for a few minutes before getting to me (fine). He eventually gets to me, takes my drink order. 5 minutes later, I have no drink and this idiot simply walks away from the bar with another coworker to leave the bar or go all the way to the back. Doesn't say anything to anyone before hand, and doesn't come back. read more

My boyfriend's band, Honeymade has started to play here frequently and I love it more with each visit. Everyone that works there is obviously very hard working and they know how to be personable. The atmosphere and set up is great now that they've been able to open up a little bit more after the Covid restrictions were lifted. There's a few TVs around the bar, a stage, food truck and an area where a dj plays; it's kind of an indoor- outdoor hybrid which is amazing at night because I love looking at the skyline and nightlife while I'm having my drinks. Now I'm excited to try the food truck the next time we visit, whatever they're cooking had the bar smelling DELICIOUS! Overall, I have a great time every time I go to WTF Icehouse and I definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a fun time downtown! read more

While presenting our ID's, my wife was in front of me and showed her ID first, and the doorman immediately asks her "Are you she's married?" Which is obviously a highly inappropriate question, but I figured he was making a joke/reference to her dress, since we just came from a concert and her dress looked a bit like an untraditional wedding dress that someone might wear for their wedding. She says "Yes", and he says "Oh really, where's your husband?" and she says "Right behind me". I couldn't hear the rest of their brief conversation from that point, but she later told me that he "didn't believe" that I was her husband, and that he thought it was utterly implausible that she and I were married to each other. Well, we happen to be an interracial couple. And there was absolutely nothing about us, other than being of different races, that could possibly make it hard to believe that we were married (we are both equally attractive, look to be around the same age, we were both well dressed, etc). Being asked an inappropriate question the second we arrived is bad enough, but the blatant racism on top of that is absolutely inexcusable. read more

Wow so every Tuesday at 7:30PM they have an Open Jam, just need to get here early to sign up & bring your own guitar. I spend have my time in LA & now Austin because all the live music venues are still closed in California. I'm taken back how welcoming everyone at this place is. The sound engineers is a awesome group all female staff. This literally looks like a United National gathering of musicians & people of all walks of diversity. Oh try the food truck. Hopefully I get on stage tonight, if not I'll be back next Tuesday. read more

This bar deserves to go under immediately. During a pandemic, most restaurants and bars are treating their customers with the utmost respect to keep clientele. Tonight, I witnessed the OWNER pull the chair behind a customer causing him to fall on his rear and fall on his spine just to prove a point that there were too many people at one table. This was something I have not witnessed since the 2nd grade. The owner pulling the chair out behind a customer? Blasphemy. I later confronted him saying let's hope he's not hurt or legal matters will be taken and his response was bringing the customer another chair to sit in to be more comfortable. I recommend no one comes here unless they want a busted face or bottom. To be determined: We are currently at Urgent Care hoping for the best. read more

Don't expect to have fun here. It's every bouncers right to reject people from entering the bar. It's also every patrons right to post a bad review. Super fun spot with great drinks and something going on every night! They have a food truck serving sliders and breakfast sandwiches for brunch. The crowd is always mixed which makes for great people watching, and they have a variety of events like comedy night, live music, etc. It can be tough to get a bartender's attention during busy hours because there's usually one main bar that everyone hits up. All in all it's a fun time if you want to sit outside, have a drink, and watch some bands play. PSA: If you're concerned about COVID-19 this is not your place during the weekends - it gets packed to almost standing room only. read more

Same drink three different prices. Bouncers use violence instead of verbal warnings. Watched two different people (male and female) get thrown from the top of the steps out of the bar for attempting to leave the bar out an unmarked entrance sign. The female looked like she had a couple scrapes on her knee and elbows. The male was in rougher shape. From being thrown from the top of the stairs the males face hit a pole located at the bottom of the step. The male was bleeding from the side of his eye while holding is collar bone... Really wanted to like this place because of the food truck inside was delicious but no burger is worth an assault from the bar staff. 1st time in Austin. Last time I EVER go to this establishment.... Do better Austin, Texas! read more

This is one of my favorite spots in downtown Austin for live music AND great comedy! Very thankful for the environment of the bar, the nice staff that are always working hard, and the heaters during the cold weather days!! The slider burgers are good and the French fries some of my favorite in Austin. They also host artist's artwork in the lounge that you can purchase to help support local artists, too! read more

They autograt and don't tell you. Who does that? Shady bartenders, that's who. Place was fine if you're into the West 6th thing. I'm not, so I can't speak on the vibe. I was there for a comedy show. The little burgers were enjoyable, but it's the fact that I tipped on top of my tip and they were cool with it that sucks. read more

So confused how a bar can exist in Austin and there's no Yelp page for it. Tim and I walked by the bar and tried to look it up under various names but no go. Was the bar gonna be awful or great? I guess we brought it back to 1999 and went in to find out on our own. Verdict: it's fine. Didn't really see any super redeeming qualities, but it worked for a drink before moving on to another bar on West 6th. I will say I saw a sign for stand up comedy another night, and when I went back that night there was no comedy to be found. Hmm. read more

We had been wanting to go to WTF for quite some time now, and finally stopped by Sunday afternoon hoping to catch some football away from the "typical" bars downtown. We were basically, if not THE only two there, but we found out it's because they unfortunately do not have NFL Sunday Ticket, which is a huge bummer. However, they had a TON of space both inside and out, with more than enough TV's to sit and watch the local game. The bartenders and staff were so friendly, and were happy to take care of us. The bathrooms are probably the cleanest in all of downtown, and they do have heaters outside on the patio for when it gets cold. They are SUPER dog friendly, and even had their own adorable greeter at the door. We'll definitely be back for sure! read more

I was over charged by this bar and have had a nightmare of a time trying to get them to correct it. I had one drink and walked the open tab because they have a sign saying they'll tip 20%. They charged me $92. They first blamed the issue on their payment processor, and then changed their story insisting they have footage of me ordering multiple shots (they do not because I did not). They won't provide any of the said footage and instead sent a screenshot of a list of drinks I'd never drink in a million years. read more

This bar has some great live music. We first walked in and there was this amazing rock band playing. Once the band ended a bad ass Dj started playing. We went to the bar in the back of the Dj set and were greeted by the bartender Lonny. He was legit so welcoming and considerate. Above and beyond the normal bartenders on w 6th. read more

I was denied access because according to the man at the door, "I was too inebriated." I had one beer at another establishment. I was not even slightly buzzed. Being a black woman, I can't help but feel this was racist behavior. I saw many drunk white women being let in. I was very excited to try this bar, and I was so disappointed. These beautiful people at WTF, made me and my whole group of friends feel welcomed. Loved the flag for service idea at the table. Our server Brad was great 12/10 would recommend. He was attentive and fast considering how busy they were! Didn't catch the name of the band but they were wonderful!!! Glad to see live music is still happening in Austin! This is one of my favorite places to drop into on a sunny weekend afternoon. Busy, but tables are appropriately distanced and have table flags to notify staff when you need help. Always plenty of staff on hand to get your drinks out quickly, and have recently installed a food truck with bomb choices. read more

Was here with some friends for a bachelor party and man were we treated horribly by the bartenders. They gave us an attitude like they'd rather not deal with us when they saw the size of our group despite the fact that we were nothing but polite to them. This was only a stop on a tour and we had no intention of staying and causing trouble. After ordering a beer I went and attempted to order a few shots for some of the guys in our group. A female bartender (never got her name) told me that I was being cut off. I was confused asked her why, and explained that the shots were being shared they were not for me to which she gave me a snarky reply. I did not argue further and simply accepted that they didn't enjoy serving us and that we should head to a new location. As I went to take a sip of the first and only beer I had ordered from this establishment a tall awkward male bartender reached over the bar and ripped it out of my hands. He said and I quote "Hey idiot! didn't you hear her she said you're cut off". I've never been treated so rudely as a paying customer. We then left this dump and had a great time the rest of the night without any issue. There are so many great bars in Austin do not waste your time with this one if you are from out of town. read more

Some guy dressed to the 9s got turned away for not having sleeves whereas I got in with sneakers and a t-shirt. They ask for your cellphones upon entering and give you a key in exchange, but there doesn't seem to be any security to enforce it if you don't want to give them up. I have no problem with their policy, but I bet a lot of customers do. Interestingly, their little social experiment seemed to have a positive effect, where we ended up talking to strangers and vice versa. The Powder Room may be making America social again.

The bartender claimed I was drunk and cut me off anyway. I was at the bar talking to a girl while waiting to get a drink (the wait was long because the service is very slow, despite the bar not being very busy at all). She was clearly into me, and the bartender kept jumping in trying to talk to her too (instead of doing his job making drinks). He was doing all sorts of things to try and flirt with her and make her laugh: pulling out and showing her buckets of pre mixed cocktails, running and sliding under the bar, etc. She was engaging with both of us , and right in the middle of that, I get cut off out of nowhere. No explanation other than claiming I looked drunk, which I very clearly wasn't. It felt very clear what was going on--he wanted me out of the way. I left and asked the bouncer on my way out if I seemed drunk. This was literally two minutes later. He said no, not at all, and asked me why I would even ask that. I then told him exactly what happened and asked him to let the owner or whoever was in charge know about this extremely unprofessional conduct so they can discipline the bartender. His response was that the bartender has discretion to cut anyone off, and let me know the bartender is supposedly married so he couldn't have been flirting with any of the customers. Well, sounds like his logic is flawed--not only COULD he flirt with his customers, he WAS, and was therefore cheating. I hope his wife finds out. This is perfectly representative of Austin customer service lately and not normal in other places. I was in Tampa for an entire month earlier this year and this would've been unthinkable there. I'm not coming back.

We also ended up ordering the sliders to go along as we had dinner reservations, and that bacon jam on there is magnificent. The sliders were all juicy and very well put together bun was very soft and the flavor of everything was really good. I would totally go back just for the sliders. Overall the service was great. The views were also quite stunning of downtown and the ambience overall which is very chill.
