Beautiful there. The camp sites are huge. Just don't expect to go swimming or hanging on a beach because it is a boating lake.

We frequent Shasta Lake and the Lakehead area, so we're familiar with the region and understand that many businesses are heavily dependent on the seasonal tourism industry. We chose Lakeshore Resort because of the amenities advertised on their website, including the pool, bar, restaurant, store, upgraded cabins, proximity to the lake and boat launch, and the option to rent an RV space next to our cabin to keep our boat. This setup was highly recommended and seemed perfect for our anniversary getaway. When we arrived on Thursday, the managers had everything ready for us and were very pleasant and welcoming. Before I continue, I want to say that my husband and I are not overly picky travelers. We don't expect luxury accommodations. However, when we entered Cabin #10, it was nothing like the photos shown online. We had paid for one of the upgraded cabins and were shocked by its condition. The cabin was extremely dated and in significant disrepair. The ceiling was falling down and had a hole in it that appeared to be plugged with toilet paper. The floors were uneven throughout, with multiple flooring types connected by jagged transitions and no transition strips. The ceiling fan wobbled so severely that it looked as though it might fall. The pantry and stove shown in the online photos were not present. The walls and ceilings had patches of mismatched white paint throughout. The shower did not drain properly because the floor sloped away from the drain, and the water temperature fluctuated between scalding hot and ice cold. Most of the electrical outlets were unusable because they had been painted over. The bed sagged in the middle, and the breakfast bar felt unstable, as though it could collapse if leaned on. At that point, all we could do was laugh and decide to go to the restaurant while we figured out what we wanted to do. On the way there, we noticed signs posted on the pool fence stating that the pool was closed for repairs. Once inside the restaurant, the hostess immediately informed us that the grill was down and only cold food items were available. We were happy to see our favorite bartender, Royce from Basshole, behind the bar, which ended up being the highlight of our trip. We enjoyed some cocktails and cold food, which was actually excellent. After dinner, we spoke with the manager and explained our concerns regarding the closed pool, the restaurant limitations, and the condition of the cabin. She was very apologetic and accommodating. She mentioned that she had not been aware the grill was down. We understand that these issues were largely beyond the control of the on-site management and appeared to be the result of decisions made by the new ownership. She immediately refunded the RV space we had rented for our boat. We decided to give the resort another chance and stay one night. We were told the grill would likely be operational the following day and that the pool might be repaired. With temperatures forecast to reach 102 degrees, both amenities were important factors in our decision to stay. Unfortunately, we got very little sleep. The ceiling fan wobbled and rattled throughout the night, and the wall-mounted air conditioner was extremely loud and had a musty odor. The cabin wasn't necessarily dirty--it was simply very old, stale, and poorly maintained. The overall condition made us uncomfortable. The next morning, we packed our belongings, returned to the office, checked out early, and requested a refund. Once again, the management team was professional, understanding, and accommodating, and they refunded our stay without issue. I want to emphasize that the managers handled the situation as well as they possibly could. Our disappointment lies with the condition of the property and the apparent lack of investment by the new ownership. We work hard for our money and simply could not justify spending approximately $200 per night for accommodations in that condition, especially for a special occasion like our 24th wedding anniversary. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend staying at Lakeshore Resort in its current state. Until significant improvements are made to the cabins and advertised amenities are restored and operational, prospective guests should carefully consider whether the resort offers the value they expect for the price. Just to be clear, we were not refunded for our entire stay. We were charged for one night in a run-down, dilapidated cabin that looked nothing like what was depicted on the website. Your statement that we were "fully refunded" is simply not accurate. Additionally, we were never given a discounted rate, despite your claim that we received one. We paid the full advertised price when we booked our stay.

The host was friendly and there was great outdoor space. There is a nice pool, a rec room and a trail. My family and I stayed in a cabin for the night and it was very run down. The first thing that's hits you when you open the door is a terrible sweet and bitter aroma. The sheets and blankets on the lower bunk had multiple stains and the broken bed frame was supported from the bottom with a thick piece of wooden dowel. The blanket on the upper bunk was decaying and ripped in several places. The pillow was stained and there were a few hairs under the covers. We ended up pulling out our sleeping bags and sleeping on the cabin floor.Overall, we had a very disappointing stay.

We stayed at site 11, and we loved it! Sites are spacious and clean. We had a wonderful time. The camp host, Dale was incredible. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was a comfortable one. They even have little shows for the kids at the amphitheater! We saw some local animals and learned about them. Lots of posters on here complained about the train that goes though, and honestly it's not that bad at all. It would be if you stayed on that side of the campground, but it only went through once or twice a day. Not a big deal at all. Pros: Huge spacious sites Plenty of restrooms (1 with flushing toilets all others are non flushing) Clean facility Family friendly Great camp host Pet friendly! Cons- Lots of poison oak around the sites. You need to be VERY careful where you and your doggies go. Half of the sites back up to the lake (not accessible to the water. Huge cliff) and across there's a shoreline where lots of trailers park and love to Party till the wee hours of the night. And boy does that sound travel. We heard their music till about 4 am. Although that wasn't our campsites fault. They did call the sheriff for us. I would absolutely stay here agin!

My family always got the same site (A-51) so for nostalgia I had to book that site as well. I could have sworn when I was a kid there were wooden bear boxes, but they no longer exist (odd because I remember seeing a bear as a kid, and the grounds crew guy also mentioned bears coming through the camp ground) but that was no problem for us since we have a truck camper and keep all items locked inside. Our fire pit was a little run down, it was an old square brick type, and the bricks were crumbling off.. a little bit of mortar and a few replacement bricks and it would be perfect though. The pool area was just as I remembered from being a kid. The snack bar was great (yay for huge ice creams). The bathroom on the tent side of the grounds could definitely use some attention, one stall door has issues closing, the shower leaks into the toilet area during high usage, and one of the toilet paper dispensers won't remain secured on the wall. We had a good over all experience. The kids (6&9) loved playing in the pool and at the playground all day. We definitely plan to come back. Hopefully a few maintenance fixes for the bathroom areas happen, but all in all it was awesome to relive some of my childhood with my own kids.

Fire pits were good too. The tent sites were SPACIOUS too I mean for my party of 6, we had 3 large tents with space & 2 trucks parked out of the way. Our site even had 2 benches. The shade provided by the trees was great, because as hot as it was, when we were present at our site we enjoyed relaxing underneath the shade. Front office staff were all very nice Saydra, Ricky & Whitney. All friendly, helpful & knowledgeable. There's also a campground store & grill. Grill food was fresh & bomb. Store part was great they carried a variety of things; ice, sunblock, water toys, camp lights, wagon, & so much more. They even have cute souvenir clothing, shirts, tanks, long sleeves, sweaters, hoodies, sun hats, sunglasses. The deck has great benches with umbrellas for shade with a great view of the lake. There's corn hole just have to ask for the bean bags. Mondays there's bingo. There's a pool 5ft. deep you have to leave a $20 deposit for the key at the front desk. Wood is cheaper here than at the Chevron. Campgrounds FAVE was the frosty (ice cream) Every morning when I went to use the bathroom, I witnessed staff cleaning the restrooms. So HUGE thank you to them for that. They even empty the trash bins throughout the day, through out the day you can catch someone on the golf cart roaming the campgrounds to make sure everything & everyone is good. There was always hot water, & cold water when needed. In the middle of the campgrounds there's a FUN playground with swings for the kids. There's even a basketball court & volleyball court too. This campgrounds is located in a great area too. Walking distance to the Antlers Marina(dock), short drive to a bunch of great swimming spots. A bit pricier than a few spots that we've stayed at but this campgrounds is WORTH IT! Definitely going to return, alsooooo upon checking out when I was at the office to double check if I needed to do anything else there was a long line in front of me of campers planning on returning too, booking their dates for 2024!!

What Went Well: * Booking and Check-In: The resort staff were organized, clear, and responsive. From initial inquiries to payment reminders, everything was handled efficiently. Check-in took just a few minutes, and they helped us transport luggage and spent 30-60 minutes giving us a personal walkthrough of the boat, which we appreciated. * Boat Quality: We were pleasantly surprised to receive a free upgrade to a nicer boat. The vessel was well-equipped, featuring a hot tub, water slide, full kitchen (oven, microwave, running water)--everything was in great condition and very enjoyable. * Support and Communication: Throughout the trip, the staff were easily reachable by phone and did wellness check-ins, which made us feel supported. When we had issues, they were quick to advise and assist. * Departure and Return: Staff helped guide us out of the harbor with hand signals and came out to help dock the boat at the end of the trip, which we really appreciated. What Could Be Improved: * Instruction at Check-In: The person assigned to instruct us was clearly more mechanically inclined and admitted it was their first time training guests. The walkthrough was overly technical, hard to absorb, and not well suited for first-timers--especially with 11 people depending on us. We wish we had received the manual in advance, or even better, a simple infographic showing common procedures (e.g., starting the boat, docking, using the generator). * Safety & Docking Design Flaws: A major issue occurred when another group walking across the rocks used our mooring ropes as support, dislodging the stake and causing our boat to drift. The bridge (gangway) detached and fell underwater, and due to its weight (~50-100 lbs), we struggled to lift it back. This wasn't addressed in the manual, and the design--where the bridge is easily detached and only secured by ropes underneath the boat--feels flawed. While staff were helpful over the phone and eventually explained how to fix it free of charge, we were initially told it would cost $150, which was frustrating. This kind of issue could be much harder for smaller groups or families to handle safely. Final Thoughts: Despite a few technical and structural frustrations, Antlers Resort staff showed professionalism, courtesy, and willingness to help throughout the weekend. The boat itself was excellent, and the free upgrade and strong support helped offset the downsides. However, we recommend that they improve onboarding materials and bridge design for a smoother and safer guest experience. We'd still consider returning, but would come better prepared--and would strongly suggest that future guests request the manual early and ask about bridge/docking procedures in advance.

Expect to take an hour to rent anything, and another hour to return and process paperwork. It's the only game in town, on the north end of the Sacramento arm, of Shasta Lake. Overall, the marina and docks were in good condition. They have gas too.
