It's so great to finally have a whiskey bar in West Seattle! We came into this bar to end our bar hopping evening. Next door to Zeek's Pizza, parking, like every other Seattle establishment is horrible. Fortunately for us, we Lyft all over the city! We got there about 8ish and were seated by the open window walls located at the front of the bar. The bar is new, so really neat and clean. You can take your pick of seating, up at the bar, back of the house, booths, or tables near the front. Being near the open windows was great and we were able to enjoy a nice cool breeze on an otherwise warm evening. We were promptly greeted by our server with water and the menus were already on the table. The menu for drinks is rather large but the food menu is limited. We chose the classic sazerac and I had the fish and chips, he had the wings. The sazeracs were okay. Very strong and not the best, but not the worst. The wings were delicious! The citrus sauce was sticky, sweet and perfect with the overly strong sazerac. The fish was crispy on the outside and flaky in the inside. The tartar sauce to accompany it was made with a sweet pickle base and not to my liking, but he loved it. Not bad, just a personal preference. Chips were of the shoestring sort. Hot, crispy, salty and came with ketchup. All in all, a good experience and we cannot wait to return with a group of friends. read more

Daily happy hour from 3-7pm!! We came in on a Wednesday afternoon. We had the whole place to ourselves for a while. Very trendy atmosphere with a large tv projector in the back along with a stage for live music! The bar area was very stylish and the bartender was very attentive. He let us try the rum slushees and some of the beers on tap. We settled with the watermelon cider and a Manhattan. Both were so good!! Unfortunately, they didn't seem to have a specialty cocktail menu. But they're great at making the classics! As for the food, we tried the happy hour Brussels sprouts, The Crown Royal BBQ wings, and the Beechers cheese curds. The portions were HUGE, considering they were happy hour prices! The cheese curds were my favorite out of the three. The Brussels sprouts were good, but lacked a little in flavor for me personally. Another bonus was the free WiFi! We wanted to kill some time while traffic back to the city died down, so my bf was able to do some work on his laptop very easily! This place seems great in pictures and concept but completely falls flat and fails at customer experience/service. Very awkward weird vibes. This place is the epitome of the Seattle Freeze. Awkward and confusing experience. I saw other yelp reviews that have expressed a similar experience and it is accurate. My friend and I have been wanting to go to a whiskey bar and for my birthday we finally went. We unfortunately picked whiskey west. When we arrived we were initially excited the place looks awesome! We were very briefly acknowledged to seat ourselves when we entered. It was a Saturday around 5 not busy, lots of seating choices. We find ourselves a seat at the front close to the bar area and then we wait....and wait. We definitely wanted food and drinks and figured maybe we had to go up to the bar to order. We approach the bar there happened to be server who seemed surprised to see us we approaching the bar but also agitated like we bothering her or interrupted her from her chatting. It felt like we weren't supposed to go to the bar or she was embarrassed she missed us or even knew we were there (maybe because of the self seating?). She said something to the effect of "sure I guess I can take your drink order now." She then tells the bartender that's standing there who heard it himself. Nothing about whiskey or recommendations etc. I mean... it's a whiskey bar with tons of whiskey and options lol it was so so odd, no communication was given at any point on how they operate or anything. We also wanted to order food but wasn't able to at that time because she immediately turned around and walked away from us. We returned to our seat bewildered. And my friend and I start talking but then we ended up waiting...and waiting. Then the guy who told us open seats dropped off our drinks. No idea what whiskey was used, but it surprisingly looked and tasted delightful. We were able to get our food order in after asking if we even could order food before we walked away. The response was "yeah you can order food." Food was honestly nothing special or amazing and Pricey for what we got. No one came to check with us, or ask us if we wanted another cocktail, since it was so awkward and established you can't order at the bar. We were pretty much over it and bummed out. We waited and waited and no one came by to ask us if our food was okay or if we wanted the check. We honestly could of walked out with out paying. We approached the bar to ask for the check and at least the bartender he seemed apologetic that we had to come up to the bar to get our check. Overall this place left us feeling bummed, awkward and confused. Unless they get their poop in a group and figure out their customer service wait staff issues I do not recommend Whiskey West. I recently checked out Whiskey West after living nearby for about 9 months now. I was hesitant after seeing their prices on their website and I really wanted to like this place as I am a big whiskey lover. The interior looks nice and they have a great whiskey collection. However, the ambiance was uneventful on a Saturday evening and the bartenders were unfriendly and awkward. The biggest kicker was the crazy expensive prices...over $50 for 2 old fashions with low end/mediocre whiskey. They added $12 to each drink just to make them OFs which I've never seen, as the cost is usually $3. I would much rather have bought a nice bottle to take home than waste my money at this place. read more

The manager Holly is absolutely rude and unprofessional. Every time I have come (hoping for a different experience) she is dismissive and nasty. She allows her friends to get annihilated drunk and bully the other clientele. When she is working it is not an experience you want. I would actually rate this 4 stars based on past experience - nice ambience, good selection of food, and decent drinks. However, yesterday I walked in to grab a table for lunch, and neither server behind the bar was wearing a mask. Unacceptable in this wave of Omicron (and I'm presuming illegal). Ironically I picked WW as a place I felt comfortable eating INdoors because it's spacious and airy and often uncrowded. We visited Whiskey West on November 22, 2023. The service, our waitress were great but the bill was SHOCKING! Not only did we get charged $13 for a Manhattan, but on top of that we got charged an extra $17 for Michter's Rye in that Manhattan! So we paid over $30 for a standard Manhattan. For reference, we paid $16 for that same Manhattan with Michter's Rye at Sailfish in Ballard the next night! Will definitely not return for $30 cocktails. Sad. read more

I live walking distance from Whisky West and I was so excited when they moved into the neighborhood..... But the food and service over the years has for sure been full of ups and downs, I've had bad service, but great food, great service, but bad food, and everything in between. I would have probably given up on this place if it wasn't walking distance, as they say "location is everything " so I keep going and keep being disappointed. During Covid their take out service and food was spot on and we tried to support all our local spots as much as possible. But the last two times I went into the restaurant and the last time I tried to order food to go were total shit shows. I understand Covid has hit restaurants hard, but this doesn't feel like that. Today I went into the restaurant make a to-go order, after I tried calling and was hung up on. I waited for 20 minutes just standing around like an idiot, the girl behind the bar said she'd get to me in a minute. But then she just went behind the bar and was leaning on the bar just hanging out and I was standing right there, there were only 3 other customers total, and at least one other employee and maybe the owner or manager as well. I stayed standing by the bar trying to understand what I was suppose to do to get help, but nobody ever asked me what I needed or wanted and I left. This is the third time in the last couple of months that I have left Whiskey West after being in the restaurant for 20-40 minutes without anybody acknowledging my existence and without getting food or even a glass of water. It's ridiculous frustrating to have a restaurant with such a great concept and potential and have it be consistently a bust. read more

This place has great food and drinks the service is spot on especially during these hard times you can't expect anything else I appreciate the hard work to keep doing. The menu keeps getting better and better did the food is not what you would expect for my food it's absolutely fantastic. I feel bad for everyone when they get dinged for things like not having happy hour or I heard someone asked one of the lady bartenders "Why don't you just hire more people?" You could tell she was frustrated and jokes thanks for that wonderful idea and laughed and said that's all we really want to happen. Very well made cocktails and good conversation but very expensive for it's location. I got 2 cocktails and a plate of food for $48 which I would expect in Belltown but not in the Morgan Junction. Cocktails were great! I got a Manhattan with their house bourbon (to be fair this did add to the charge) as well as a His Mistress. The Mistress cocktail was a bourbon based cocktail with Aperol which gave it some fun flavors. Food was really well made I got the chicken BLT burger and liked every bite of it as well as the crispness of the fries. we came here dead tired from a long train ride and this place was a pleasant surprise. The beer was delicious, and the food was solid. I want to especially note how attentive our server (it said Erik on the ticket) was for us. He actively made sure we were really happy with our food and offered to remake one of our items that did not meet his satisfaction. Very cool of him! Overall this place exceeded our expectations and we had a delicious meal with great drinks. Atmosphere is nice and relaxed too, even for a friday night. Whiskey West is the perfect place for any Whiskey Connoisseur. Located right in the Morgan Junction next to Zeek's Pizza it has a small parking lot in the rear and some street parking in front and on the side. Inside the building is beautifully decorated with hard wood and whiskey barrels throughout the lounge. As of right now there is a limited menu but what is available is delicious. My husband and I had the Reuben and Whisk(e)y Burger and both were hands down delicious. First of all the fries, there is so much to be said about the fries. Made in shoestring style they are freshly prepped everyday and it is completely obvious. Dressed with a hint of rosemary and lots of salt they are simply delicious. My husband finished a whole basket to himself! The Reuben is simply the best we've ever had and the burger has the best flavor. Now above all, the whiskey. They have an amazing selection with reasonable prices. And if you aren't the whiskey type they also have a cocktail list that includes more liquors. Finally they also have a great beer menu with 20 Beers on Tap. So if you are in the area looking for a great 21+ Lounge, Whiskey West is definitely the place! read more

Hooboy. I came here for my sister-in-law's birthday, and it was a great space - we were able to have the table in back with tons of room, AND it was near the live musician who came in about halfway through our time there. I don't particularly care for whisk(e)y, so I stuck with beer. They do have some fancy whisky drinks, though, for those who are into that. Our table ordered some fries to share (they were delicious) as well as some tater tot nachos (they were REALLY spicy, thanks to jalapenos). My entree was the mac & cheese, which was cheesy and melty and delicious. The sauce could have been a *little* thicker, but overall I really enjoyed it. They also graciously let us store a few cakes in the kitchen so we could celebrate. That said. The service was... not great. I know we were a larger group. I think our server was newer. But it was so hard to get ANYTHING, and we had to repeatedly ask. Water wasn't refilled unless we asked a few times. Drinks weren't offered unless we asked a few times. All of our food came out at random intervals as did the napkins and silverware. These things happen, but even a, "Sorry, it's really slammed tonight" (although it wasn't) would have sufficed; instead we felt super annoying that we had to keep asking for things. There is a strange smell coming from the middle of the room where the bathroom is. Not totally sure what that's about. BEWARE OF SNEAKY CHARGES!! Service was great, we just popped in for one drink and an app on our way to dinner. We have been here before. My husband always orders an old fashioned and he did so tonight, but requested eagle rare. I got their version of a French 75, and we split the tater tot nachos. Everything was delicious and their service was good. When we got the bill (see the image) we thought that there had to have been a mistake. They charged $11 for the old-fashioned, $18 separately for the liquor added to it, and included the Washington state liquor tax! We called our server over, and explain to him that and all of the bars we have been to in downtown Seattle, we have never seen an $18 charge for the type of liquor added to a drink. Generally they might be 5 to 9 dollars more, but never 18. It looked like there were three drinks charged on our bill rather than one. He got his manager to come over. She told us that since this is a whiskey bar, they give very generous servings of whiskey in their drinks, so it would be the equivalent of two shots in his drink. She also told us that Eagle rare is impossible to find these days, so that was another reason for the high charge. Fine, we will not be returning. On the way out the door, I called one of our favorite bars in downtown Seattle (shout out to Zig Zags!) and they confirmed that their old-fashioned made with eagle rare ends up being about $18 total, (12 plus 5 or 6 bucks for the specified booze) not $18 in addition to the $11 base drink. They also said that eagle rare is not so impossible to find that it would merit such a ridiculous upcharge. You would be better off going somewhere else. read more

It does come with cheese and I'm not sure if the bun is vegan, but I'm sure they can accommodate you for that. Their fries definitely taste homemade. Ordered take out to eat while we were next door. Wait time said 35-45 min. Called about 20 min in to see if there was a time estimate, they said they didn't have an order yet and hung up on us. We checked in in person about 35 min after placing the order because we got an alert that said the food was ready. Bartender said to come back because the "bell didn't ring yet." Went back 55 min later and finally got our food, completely cold. I'm disappointed with the lack of service or ownership in the 3 interactions with the bartender. No apology, no offer to check on the food, no care at all about our experience. Definitely won't be ordering from here again. read more

Their staff is very friendly (they always remember my drink order and my name!), and the house wings with their house made sauce are my absolute fav! There is street parking, they have a great happy hour menu more wonderful- $4 well drinks and a solid menu of discounted food (plus the portions are super generous). They also have live music quite often which makes for a great atmosphere. I do have to say the drinks are a bit expensive, but delicious every time! I love coming here! read more

I travel to West Seattle often. So, when Whisky West opened up near family, where we stay, I was very excited about having another establishment to frequent in the Junction. Initially, the place was friendly and courteous, although service was never really good. However, the convenience of being able to walk to a bar was always appreciated. In the last year, I've noticed fewer customers, so maybe that's catching up to them. The real problem I have with Whisky West, tho, is the way they mistreat their neighbors. Trash along the road outside the establishment where neighbors have full view. And, most recently, towing cars from their parking lot, rather than confronting neighbors who've had an oral agreement to park there when the lot isn't full. I find this to be a deplorable way to conduct business and a heartless way to treat neighbors. I will NOT be frequenting this business again!!! read more

NEEDED a burger & fries. It's a bit after 3 on a Tuesday, and I am strolling down California Ave with my two German Shepherd mixes. I pass Whiskey West and examine it's "best happy hour" sign. I check the menu. A classic burger & fries..for $8? AND I can bring my dogs on the patio? Yes, yes, yes! Waitstaff was beyond real and excellent and dog lovin'. Recommended a killer IPA ( dollar off happy hour pour). But this $8 burger, this supposedly less than regular menu burger, is the best I have had in Seattle! Cooked a PERFECT Medium rare (meaning lots of pink) on a buttery bakery bun, a thick grass fed beef patty, slimed with real cheddar cheese...JUICEY and perfect and oh so delicious. But, wait for it: the fries! These are the King and Queens of fries: thick cut real potatoes, cooked tight, taut and so crisp outside and leaving a soft creamy middle that only a true food genius can prepare. Come here! Bring your friends! Or not! Definitely bring your dogs! It is most wonderful! read more

Dang, these are the Best burgers in Seattle! And I have not found better fries! That is just the food . . . The drinks are a level above ordinary restaurants, more refined! Not sure, where to begin. This is our second visit to Whiskey West. First time, neither myself or my husband loved the food. We decided to give this place another chance, well my hubby's dish was ok, the seared tuna was good but the seaweed and spinach was just ok interesting LoL the chicken blt, was awful, only thing tasty was the bread, the bacon, over cooked, the chicken, extremely dry, the fries, barely touched them, over cooked and they looked like they sat out for hours. Not worth it at all, the bill was $50 plus, including tip. Their food, extremely disappointed, if we ever go back its for an appetizer and a drink that's it, don't bother with the rest if their menu, its a disappointment! read more
