I have drove by this place many times and never equated it to being a quaint tea room until it was introduced to me. From the outside, it looks like a red barn thrift store. But it's actually this cute, charming thrift shop in the front, garden space in the middle section, a store front in the back side and a tea room with inside and outside seating by the pond in the far back. I love the fact that the inside tea room is stocked with different eclectic tea cup sets and that each table is decorated with a matching set for the guests. I like that you are provided a menu of the teas of the day to choose from and there is one from black tea, green tea, herbal tea and a specialty flavor. It gives a nice variety for the table to enjoy. The finger sandwiches/pastries are just the right size and I absolutely love the balsamic dressing that goes with the salad. The cutest afternoon tea spot! Service is fast and friendly, everything was well timed. Will say the tea could have been warmer. Otherwise everything was delicious! It is a very cozy and eclectic vibe. Their are several other small local shops on site, including a small home goods store and antique and plant store as well! Reservations are tricky, definitely contact well in advance. Parking can be tight and mostly grass and gravel. But overall we all Loved the experience and great price at just $30! Visiting Whistle Stop Garden's Tea Room is a lovely experience all its own, but you can easily make an afternoon of it with tea plus shopping at the on-site general store, antique store filled with food from local makers and artists, and, of course, their garden shop (if your thumbs are more green than mine are). Starting with the tea room experience, they offer both a standard and vegetarian version of their Afternoon Tea. One person in our party was dairy and gluten free, and they wonderfully accommodated her needs, too. That was such a lovely surprise! When you order the Afternoon Tea, your table (ours was a table of five) gets to choose two tea pots filed with tea, and that includes refills. You start out with a fresh spring green salad and a scone - and the scone this time was a DELICIOUS blueberry and white chocolate scone served with the most incredible whipped butter cream imaginable. Then comes your beautiful tiered tray with three mini tea sandwiches, a mini quiche, and three delicious sweet treats per person. Everything we tried was so delicious! Aster sitting and sipping a while, we perused the grounds, checking out the general store and the cute and expansive antique shop. It just feels like that shop keeps going, and I loved looking through all of the treasures. I decided to buy some cute earrings, and I loved that the pricing throughout the shop felt very reasonable. One small callout is the parking. While I was able to park, parking can be a little challenging here. Expect to park in some cramped spaces or on the grass in most instances. I parked on the side of the building where they included some parking spots, but I had to back out through to the road to be able to get turned around to leave. We made reservations via text message a few weeks in advance and included our tea time, number of guests and what tea service we wanted; so, our reserved table was ready for us when we arrived. We got to select 2 types of tea for the table and then were served a salad, a selection of tea sandwiches, quiche and sweet treats on a tiered tray. I have driven by a thousand times and I had no idea what this place was. So happy we stopped today. This is a quaint shop with many vendors, crafters and antiques.Best of all the tea room in the back was amazing. I had the strawberry banana green tea. It was great! I went here a few months ago and i'm absolutely dying to go back! The place was adorable filled with antiques when we walked through. The seating outside is gorgeous as well. There's a lake filled with lily pads and an adorable little cat that greets you and loves to lay by your feet. There's service was amazing! Had a private event baby shower at the Whistle Stop Garden' Tea Room. From booking to communication to the actual event everything was great! Sarah was an amazing host! When it was obvious it was going to be cooler than expected ( Jan 11, 2025) I inquired about a patio heater because we had booked the entire property ( inside and outside). Sarah let me know they lost theirs in the recent hurricanes ( Helene and Milton) but they would have one available. When we showed up 30 minutes prior to the shower for set up, bless her heart, Sarah was trying to put the heater together herself! My son in law and his father jumped into action and within 40 minutes had the heater together and on the patio. Sarah was gracious enough to let us have additional time at the end of the shower for the inconvenience. Thank you! Appreciated that gesture. The food was delicious and the service was exceptional. It made the shower really special and an event above and beyond a regular shower- something my daughter really valued and enjoyed. I think I was a Londoner in a past life. I love a well done afternoon tea. After searching the Tampa Bay Area all advice pointed to Whistle Stop Garden's Tea Room. I was not disappointed. I found WSGTR in an internet search. Normally I would check them out on Yelp but in my excitement I did not. I strongly advise you to view all the pictures so that you are prepared for the unique aesthetic. I was not. You a need to walk along the side of the building to the back. Upon arriving I wasn't quite sure if this "tea" would meet my standards, because the grounds are VERY, VERY rustic. At first glance a little rustic? Upon further inspection I could see the careful charm with which the area was curated. We arrived on time for our 1:00 pm veranda (outdoor) reservation for afternoon tea. We were surprised that it appeared we had the veranda to ourselves. It had turned out to be a lovely day I thought everyone would be out there. Our server was a cordial young lady. I have an allergy and cannot eat any wheat. I called ahead to order a gluten free tea. After confirming our preorder, the server helped us pick out the best teas. The teas were fragrant and the tea was as luxurious as I'd expected. Please see the pictures. We had a lovely time. The experience had good service, a lovely atmosphere, delicious food and the tea of course was yummy. I had no idea what we were pulling into because the outside building is the general store so it didn't seem like a tea room upon arrival. However, we were directed around back by some lovely gents on the porch. As it turns out, there are a few different little buildings. We made our way into the tea room building and immediately greeted & seated. We selected our two teas for our meal and food was served quickly. A salad, the tea tray with sandwiches, quiche, and desserts. All delicious! And I left feeling quite full. The other building were a little shop with candles, soaps, & etc plus a general store. A hidden gem! Tucked away is this hidden garden and tea house. The best southern ambiance to drink tea and eat cucumber sandwiches with friends or family. The service is great, prices are reasonable. Today my friend and I went to the whistle spot tea shop in Lutz and I wanted to share our experience so that you mamas are aware before going I really really wanted to give this place five stars. It has all the bones and potential to be amazing. Ms. Laurie was delightful and friendly. The lady that brought our treats was sweet as well. It was Ms. Anna that soured our experience. And now I wish I could give negative stars. After initially being helpful in removing a wasp that was crawling on my toddler's head Ms. Anna was short tempered and yelled and hollered at our kids even though they were polite and kept their hands to themselves and were marveling at all the pretty flowers and trinkets in the outdoor space. She yelled at the girls when they were going to the bathroom together (they went together because the light in the bathroom was burnt and they were scared to go alone) so they were going to wait for each other at the bathroom. She yelled that she didn't want them walking around. We explained the situation so she snapped "fine two by two then" weird but we let it slide and told our girls to go in pairs. After we finished our brunch my friend took the girls to walk around and look at plants and flowers. Anna then yelled at the girls to not touch anything, In the presence of their mom. We began packing our leftovers and I was chatting with Ms. Laurie and then she said she had to talk to Anna because they're closing soon. Anna continued to be strange. While she thanked us for coming, a minute later as I was showing my friend the beautiful herb garden she yelled at me, A grown woman, At the top of her lungs to STOP TOUCHING, so I raised my voice so she could hear me over her own roaring and said I am demonstrating how basil and mint grows to my friend. I haven't touched nor damaged her plants. To that she rubbed her face and said oh or sorry. She then went around to where my friends' 4 year old was standing patiently waiting for her mama and screams GO TO YOUR MOTHER STOP TOUCHING like a madwoman. At that point I couldn't stay silent. I responded with apologizing to my friend's daughter loudly so that Anna could hear: "adults should NEVER yell at kids". And then I told Anna loudly "DO NOT YELL AT CHILDREN, she was waiting for her mama patiently and politely. You had no right to yell" as we were leaving. My friend also told Anna she shouldn't yell at her kids and that it wasn't okay. We didn't wait to hear what she had to say. She blabbed something back but we just walked away from Crazy old lady. But shame on Anna and shame on the lady in the hat that works there for not stopping the verbal abuse from happening. Only the veranda was available; however, we asked to be moved inside in the event of a cancellation, to which the owner fulfilled as soon as possible. Upon being seated, we were given tea option, two pots per table of 4. We chose the peach apricot tea and the blackberry sage tea. Both were very delicious! We were first served a salad with a fabulous dressing and feta cheese. The scone was moist. The finger sandwiches arrived shortly after. We were given egg salad, chicken salad, and a turkey and cheese sandwich, along with a mini quiche, a brownie, an apple dessert and a lemon cake. All had great flavor and we were sufficiently full by the end of our tea pots. The general store and the antique store both offer great shopping options! Pickled asparagus, jalapeño mustard, apple butter are just a few of the items. The antique store had so many fall decorations and an endless supply of books! We'll definitely be back. If there is one thing that I truly love, it is afternoon tea. In the past, there was a tea room in Lutz called Mrs Tea's Garden Tea room. I was saddened when I found out she closed in 2015. Fast forward, and I did a search on tea rooms again, and to my excitement, I find Whistle Stop Garden Tearoom in Lutz. I know exactly where this is, and I have been to Deb's Whistle Stop. I made a reservation as soon as I found them. There was no holding me back. Whistle Stop Garden Tearoom has a Shabby Chic and Garden theme, and it's absolutely gorgeous and inviting to say the least. This is not a huge big space by any means, so when I walked in, it was filled to the rim with customers on a Sunday. They have been open since December of 2016, but they are now picking up a lot, and I'm sure they will be quite busy because they are amazing. After settling in to our table, we tried their passion fruit tea. Since it is already summer in Florida we opted for the ice tea version. The passion fruit tea was our absolute favorite. They had three options and we tried two of the three. We also tried their hibiscus tea with raspberry, and the one we did not try was the vanilla green tea. These were lovely refreshing teas, along with the pink lemonade which you can have a pot of as well. We started with salad, a watermelon and feta cheese on top of greens and topped with vinaigrette dressing. This is a perfect summer salad and I am glad I had both salads being that my hubby doesn't like to eat salad. I was happy. Second came the scones with clotted cream and strawberry passion fruit homemade jam. Oh my. My hubby and I loved that strawberry passion fruit jam so much. If we could of taken it home with us, we would without a doubt. Third was our delightful two level afternoon tea collection of tea sandwiches and sweet treats. I can't even list them all, and tell you what was better than the other. They were all equally memorable. One will not go wrong at all. As we were there for about an hour, we were gradually able to meet all involved with putting this tearoom together. Our server was absolutely darling and helpful and she did a great job. I want to say her name is Haley or Hannah. I'm sorry if I did not mention it correctly but she did extraordinary especially because for a while it was quite busy in there. We met the Chef and Anna, and the owner of Deb's Whistle Stop. They are all so friendly and amazing. There's more here with it being on the grounds of Deb's Whistle Stop, the antique and furniture store, the General Store - with their being local honey's and soaps and stuff like that, and the garden, where they helped me put together my flower pot box. This is a perfect place and we will surely be back in the Fall with my little fur baby Mocha Coconut who will love sitting outside and seeing the pretty views of the garden. Instead of receiving a message (in less than 24 hours) that could have said "Are you still interested?" I received a message from Anna that only said "No reservation." Went for granddaughters 17th birthday. She had about seven of her girlfriends and her great- grandmother, both grandmothers and mother. Along with another of the mothers and grandmother. We were all there before the classmates arrived putting in the presents and the cake. The owner came in with the nastiest attitude just rude that she didn't like the way we had it set up with a table for the cake and we wanted all the girls to sit together. She just ruined it for us adults. Couldn't really respond because we didn't want to ruin the occasion for my granddaughter. It was a lot of money to be treated so badly. After she did that she never came back in to check on anything (which was probably a good thing because the other grandmother and I were beside ourself on this woman's attitude) I would not recommend. What a very quaint venue. Definitely a unique experience for girlfriends wanting to have a sophisticated tea. We made a reservation weeks in advance to utilize the tea room. Upon arrival, there was a bridal shower event set to begin the same time as our reservation. It was very awkward to be "crashing their party" but the bridal party did not seem to mind whatsoever. We felt as though we were impeding on such an intimate moment among friends, not to mention we wanted to do our own table of 3 girl talk. Our waitress was very accommodating and relocated us outside. After the waitress reset our table with the hot tea kettle and linen, one of my friends almost got stung by a bee. This poses a threat as she is allergic to them. Sadly, our outdoor time was extremely limited so we were relocated back indoors- with the bridal shower now in full swing of them playing games, etc. At that point I was so embarrassed for the bride but that party remained in good spirits and didn't mind us. So we ended up having our chit chat and laughs while eating good food consisting of a variety of sandwiches, quiche, tarts, and mini cupcakes. The tea selections were plentiful. You can choose up to 2 types of hot tea at a time. My favorite was the pomegranate grove tea. This is by no means a stop in because you're in the area type of place. I suggest making a reservation in advance, as your food is already prepared for you and your guests and brought out on a pretty platter. I got the raspberry rooibos tea which was delicious and very light. The first course was a salad with a very tasty dressing, but the cranberry scone and clotted cream stole the show for this course!
