    Southwest Chicken Salad
    Tracee P.

Whistle Stop Tavern is basically the old Pacers. Pacers is the restaurant that if you grew up in the area this was the place to eat. We even had a small baby shower here. It's big on the inside, we used the back area for the baby shower. I was sad when Pacers moved to off the Highway but so glad to try Whistle Stop. It was straight nostalgia for me. Like eating the food brought back so many great memories shared here. The food is the exact same, taste.. it's fantastic! My kids ordered the ribs with no sauce, my husband had the southwest chicken salad and I had the garlic Parmesan wings and fries. I enjoyed a nice cocktail while my food was cooking. Let's just say this will be my new place for drinks. I love it here at Whistle Stop.

Delicious!!! Got The conductor chicken sandwich and it was terrific! Plenty of bacon, mushrooms, onions, pepper jack cheese, wow. Soooooo Good!!!

Just stopped at the Whistle Stop for the first time for lunch. Used to come here for ribs when it was pacers. Decided to try their ribs for old time sake and they didn't disappoint. Service was great. Ribs were old school on the bone ribs with fries and garlic toast. Got a bonus salad with the meal. Walked out fat and happy. Life is good!

Definetly a great local spot! Whether you're getting off work at the Amazon center or you're looking for a Sunday funday Place this is it! Easy bar food menu, easy laid back atmosphere. They are enforcing social distancing and sanitizing accordingly, staff is easy going and super nice. Waited maybe 10 min for my wings and skins. Food was great! Price was good, they also apparently serve breakfast ? I'm In!!

Bartender Sarah created an excellent bloody mary in this clean, cozy atmosphere. Great meeting spot for friends, food and drink.

I have eaten many items off the menu, dining in and carry out. Never disappointed. The staff is friendly and the bar selection is plentiful.

The waitress is horrible, never checked in on us at once at all. Couldn't even get a refill. Pathetic in my eyes.

Right in the middle of dinner, every single phone in the room went off at the same time with a tornado warning. You could feel the shift for a second--everyone looking around, trying to figure out what was happening--and then shortly after, the lights went out. No candles, no backup lighting, just a room full of people sitting together in the dark, lit by phone screens, laughing and taking it all in. (Yes, we got a picture--because how could you not?) What stood out immediately was how calm everything remained. There was no chaos, no confusion, and no sense of panic. The staff handled it with a level of professionalism and composure that honestly impressed all of us. And that's where Noah deserves real recognition. Noah went above and beyond in a way that you just don't see every day. When we asked what the plan was if things escalated, he didn't brush it off--he made sure we knew exactly what would happen and reassured us that we would be taken care of and moved safely to the kitchen if needed. That level of awareness, communication, and care made a huge difference in the moment. Now let's talk about the food--because even without the storm story, this place stands on its own. Everything was excellent. The salads were fresh and well-prepared, the meals were flavorful and clearly made with care, and the overall quality across the table was consistent. You can tell this is a restaurant that has built its reputation over time and continues to deliver. The atmosphere also deserves a callout. There's something about this place that feels genuinely personal. The family photos throughout the restaurant--even in the bathrooms--gave it a warmth that's hard to describe but instantly recognizable. It reminded me of my Nana and Papa, that kind of nostalgic, comforting feeling that you don't often get in restaurants anymore. And somehow, even sitting in the dark during a tornado warning, that feeling didn't go away--it actually made it stronger. That says everything. End result: * Incredible, high-quality food * Exceptional, thoughtful service (huge shoutout to Noah and the team) * A warm, authentic, family-style atmosphere * A once-in-a-lifetime dinner experience we'll never forget Amazing experience--lights or not. If you're in the area, go. And if something unexpected happens while you're there, just know--you're in good hands. Would absolutely come back.

And Saturday night is date night so we were going out no matter what. Now, lest you think we are completely out of our minds, we had resigned ourselves to staying near home and for this evening, fine dining was out of the picture. So we chose an ever popular with the masses, little, community centered Italian restaurant close by. "Dino's Restaurant" is a mainstay local eatery that has been serving good Italian food to my community for ever. I really don't know how long they've been here but I've been here over 50 years and I'm sure they've been here before me. That alone speaks volumes to the quality of food and service you can expect there. Is the food the best I've ever had... probably not... my Nona's was the best. Is it as good as some of the extraordinary dishes I experienced at the high caliber establishments? That's not apples to apples. This is every night of the week, just got home from work, Italian family all sitting around the dinner table waiting for momma to bring out the evenings offerings, food. It's not fancy. It's not something you never heard of. It's simply good, wholesome, stick-to-your-ribs, eat till you can't eat anymore food. I enjoyed a fresh, crispy salad with vinegar & oil and dry blue cheese. Followed by 3 big pieces of "Chicken Piccata" in a nice sauce. With a side vegetable and a refreshing "Arnold Palmer" to wash it all down. Afterwards we enjoyed a good cup of coffee and a slice of "Mascarpone cake". When my wife and I were done I was presented a bill for $61.00. And I took home enough food for at least 1 more meal... maybe more Now you can't beat that. My recommendation... You should go.

If I am in the Willowick area I will usually try to stop by Sweetberry Fresh Market to see what I can find. Sweetberry is a medium sized market with a large selection of produce and fruits, a full deli counter, butcher counter, bakery, groceries and prepared foods. Once you have parked you get your first taste of what is best and freshest since they have a display of vegies on sale on the side and front porch; which is open in the summer and covered in the winter. Inside you find a tightly packed market which is usually packed with people. The staff does a nice job of keeping things moving, but it can get a bit overwhelming and slow at times. I usually concentrate on the fruits and vegetables; prices are moderate, although I can usually find good deals on the sale items. For me I can pass on most of the other food, while they have a freezer of frozen fish and seafood, there is no fresh seafood. Most times I visit Sweetberry while the selection is good between the crowds and the prices, I either leave with nothing or just a couple of items. If you are in the area Sweetberry is a good alternative to the grocery stores, but probably not worth a special trip.
